Your question is something the market hasn't factored in to IDCC's share price. At some point a big fish (such as Apple) will make a play on IDCC. For strategic reasons, Nokia cannot afford to let a company like Apple acquire IDCC....lest they be completely locked out of the handset business in a few years. I have been thinking all along that Nokia will make a play on IDCC....because IMHO, IDCC is worth at least $100/share to Nokia. Stop and think about how much past damages Nokia owes IDCC, especially if they have to pay .75 to 1.00 per 3G phone that they have ever sold. Ironically, IDCC would probably have accepted a deal last fall for .50 per phone....but now that IDCC is in the driver's seat....Nokia should have to pay for dragging IDCC though the courts this long.

This also sends a sign to the LTE/4G marketplace....it's better to sign early and get a reasonable deal....than to challenge and pay top dollar in the end.
