You go to profile and see your password in plain view. This was done on purpose. The explanation to this and many other questions is on the Welcome to SI thread and the Interface discussion thread. It is temporary since many folks don't know their passwords....as I recall so they can log in to the new SI.. amazingly ....
sOb, my guess is that the two systems approach was hatched because Bob Z. had a little too much time on his hands and he also had some kind of fantasy or vision thing about what a board should look like. But, as the work progressed he realised that Matt had it right all along, but now he got too much time into this thing to give up just yet.
...funny what a large ego will do a man.
As for the font options? I wouldn't worry, iHub has all of these things. <vbg>
