God made all the heavenly bodies to be for signs and dating purposes

Is this scripture? Or do you presume to know the mind of God?

ML.....hope you had a great weekend also.

I'm aware of the strength of your beliefs and yet we talk. I'm not going to second guess that.

I didn't know that you subscribe to "Earth Centrism".....good to know. It helps explain why you might be resistant to the idea of the existence of "aliens". With the trillions of stars and the planets that surround them, it would be illogical to assume that there is intelligent life only on Earth, but I understand that from your point of view, "God" could have seen to that. It would be easy for "Him" to create the light coming to us from an exploding star, that in effect never exploded. That pesky question of "Why" comes up again. Would not having done that, lessen your awe when you look at Hubble photos? The interesting thing is that we are getting a peek at the universe before it supposedly existed.

Yes......the Universe is majestic, is is not?

I greatly simplified the measuring of ice core data. Much more than snowfall layers are involved. Some very good reading here:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=safari&rls=en-us&q=ice+core+layers+dating&btnG=Search

Again....it would be illogical to assume that one event like the flood could have caused the layering, with different isotopes in the layers but, as you say, with magic, nothing is impossible. The question of the "apparent" age still nags however. I could agree that an animal might have to be created fully grown, but I fail to understand how that would apply to ice.....or rocks, for that matter. Why would anyone question it if the data showed the Earth to be only 6K years old, if indeed, that were the case. But it isn't and questions arise.

Having been a Christian once upon a time, I understand your trepidation in these matters. To even entertain the idea that the Bible might not be correct is inviting eternal damnation. They really get ya with that one.

Why can't there be a God without the earth and humans being at the center of everything? It just strikes me as so incredibly arrogant to think that we humans are the pinnacle of God's creation.

There is most definitely an organizing principle to our tangible universe that pervades higher and lower dimensions of space/time/whatever.

However, to simply imagine the lower human mind can imagine, depict, comprehend, or even grant or give realistic meaning to such a "thing" is arrogant and canniving.

No single group has any corner on the "god" market.

I am quite certain some superior extraterrestrial species would consider doing their very best to convince a more primative form of self - recognizant life of it's "superiority" via miraculous events; i.e. lighting a fire with a burst of highly intense energy would be pretty damn impressive to feller that used flint rocks.
Heck, even a Bic lighter would do the trick so long as everyone couldn't do it.
Therein lies the awe and "belief". That's the nature of "magic".

StarGate SG-1 did a pretty credible job of showing us just what such a technological "dominance" would look like and for anyone reading between the lines a glimpse of possibilities this side of the human imagination.

The most ancient of stories, once united, tell a distinct tale. One not so different than the other aside from culturally accreted "gobble de gook".

Every group wants to credit it's superiority to being "closer to the gods" than any other.
