"Exactly Mlsoft......."Why bother to make the rest of the Universe??" What do we need stars for?"

God made all the heavenly bodies to be for signs and dating purposes, but mainly to give man a sense of the awesome majesty and power of the One Who created it all. Unfortunately, as Romans 1 predicts, man no longer gives Him credit for creation or for being God, thereby heaping wrath on themselves.

The fact that the Universe is far larger than man first thought does nothing to take away from what you call "earth centrism". It merely underscores the foreknowledge of God, Who knew we would eventually be able to see that far into the Universe and wanted there to be something out there, again so that we might wonder at His majesty and awesome power. The earth, and man in particular, are presented in Scripture as being the center of God's attention. The earth itself was the first of all material creations, with only the angels having been created before it.

"it snows...there's a layer......nothing complicated. Count the layers and you've got a couple hundred thousand years."

Back to the ice cores. How many snows do you assume to be in a year. How do you know that that number is even close to being a constant or always accurate? There are a lot of assumptions in your argument.

You conveniently ignored the basic thrust of my entire argument, but focused on one small piece. Other possible explanations (I am not a scientist) might be that they were deposited shortly after the flood. I would suggest that you visit a scientific creation board for more science based explanations. The main thrust of my suggestion to you was that each part of creation, from man to the Universe itself, was created in a fully mature form, as logic would dictate.

You ask "what am I missing here??" I think what you are missing is that you will not even entertain the idea that creation and Scripture as a whole might be true or that the God of Scripture not only exists, but is in control of all things.

I am equally close minded to your explanations, by the way, and neither of us will ever convince the other -- only God can do that.

Hope you had a great weekend.
