I've enjoyed everyone's comments/analysis with regard to the Olympics, NBC, MS, SilverLight & WXP. Good comments/questions all.

The one thing that I've kept in my mind with respect to the Beijing Olympics is that Beijing is 12 hours ahead of US East Coast, and 15 ahead of US West Coast. At best, a viewer in "prime time" will be able to see "tomorrow morning's" events live, and an early riser TV viewer will see "tonight's" events live. That leaves a huge chunk of events (content) that NBC paid a heck of a lot of money for being contested while most Americans are fast asleep. Couple that with the fact that the games only last for 17 days, means that there are only 408 potential hours of "live" competion (the number is even less since I assume that the games do not run 24 hours per day).

So how does NBC leverage all of this content? <wink>

I think that the WXP distribution model (caching content) is perfect for this dynamic. The quality of the video (near HD) will impress a lot of folks.
