Gday Tackler. Can't tell you how demand from the Midwest will be affected short term by this but I would have thought and you'll likely agree that hyperinflation across most of the ag commodity complex would be very friendly to potash usage moreso in the developing world. That is where rationing was potentially possible. We need those poorer farmers to be very confident to fertilize properly and not skimp. High crop values give farmers confidence whether you are a 50 year old paddy farmer in Sichaun Province or a 30 year old corn grower in Iowa. But from the sounds of our mate ol Bill Doyle though it sounds as though rationing will likely come from the supply side before demand destruction occurs whatever the scenario.

No doubt you're enjoying this ride :) God bless Mr Don Coxe. Absolute investment guru. He simply turns the lights on for us mere punters?

It sounds as though the most likely option farmers may take is to simply not replant anything and take the insurance. I have posted a newspiece earlier which may help you understand how farmers are going to react. But there is also a lot of concern as to the solvency of these insurance companies as the likely mass number of claims hits their desks. Particularly given the liquidity issues in US credit markets ... its a debacle by the sounds of it.
