Is it possible that SKS was floating a trial ballon to ascertain what would fly with the shareholders? Politicians do this quite frequently & then come back with a more reasonble proposal. I know that he started out as an engineer, but over the past few years he has had to amp-up his business savvy skills to keep this venture going. Just a thought. GKC

Hi Whitewash!

You have a point about ideals...money is unimportant. I have known folks like that, and they are inclined to be more of the academically oriented.

It's fuuny though, I believe options have been granted in 2007, and Hardjono was the first name that popped into my mind.

i don't know what his motivations were, but i am willing to bet that the level of salary and bonuses was the factor that swung the deal, if he had any inhibitions about leaving his previous job.

your observations about the motivations of brilliant people, in a way, substantiates my point. If a person is motivated by the opportunity to do interesting and brilliant work, and the environment at company A and company B each afford such an environment, a person will be indifferent as to which he would prefer to work in. there is career change inertia in such situations. recruiters have to mitigate such enertia. while the availability of other factors may be determinative, MONEY is the most efficient lubricant to overcome job satisfaction enertia.
