Yep the energy has to go somewhere. The job of the exoskeleton is redirect the energy so its not interfering with the sensitive internal electronics so the vehicle doesnt go out of control. Where Tesla redirects that energy to, idk, and is beyond my point. Redirecting the energy to the batteries could cause fires.
Thus the problem and hazard of its current iteration of vehicles and resulted in the death of the President of Citadels son; not to mention hundreds of others.
