5 reasons Israel is dominating the cannabis industry

From research to agricultural and technical innovation and liberal government policies, Israel is a central hub for advancing medical cannabis.

By Viva Sarah Press | February 13, 2017, 7:00 am

Legal cannabis sales across the world totaled $150 billion last year, and sales in the United States alone are expected to reach $21.8 billion by 2020.

Israel is at the center of this huge growth because of its well-developed ecosystem of cannabis researchers, farmers, entrepreneurs, pharma and government policies.

“You can’t put cannabis into a category. It’s not just pharma and it’s not just agro-tech. It’s not just lifestyle or recreational,” Saul Kaye, a pharmacist and the chief executive of iCAN: Israel-Cannabis venture fund, tells ISRAEL21c.

Kaye says Israel is up to 10 years ahead of other countries in innovation in the cannabis industry.

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem has a multidisciplinary center on cannabinoid research and Ariel University offers a course on the use of medical cannabis. The Volcani Agricultural Research Organization is building a national institute for medical marijuana research.

Startup accelerator Cann10 hosts an annual International Medical Cannabis Conference and iCAN hosts the annual CannaTech cannabis innovation summit. The next summit is set for March 20-22 in Tel Aviv.

The Israeli government announced last year that it will expand the number of doctors trained and authorized to prescribe medical marijuana. In January, the government announced plans to decriminalize personal marijuana use, and in February a government committee approved cannabis export.

“This change will significantly increase entrepreneurship and investment into cannabis in Israel as the old stigma of criminal cannabis disappears,” says Kaye.

Since the government’s mid-2016 reforms to open up licensing for as many marijuana growers as the market will support, over 200 individuals and groups have applied to join Israel’s current eight cannabis farms.

ISRAEL21c presents five reasons Israel is dominating the cannabis industry:

RESEARCH

CNN medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta called Israel “the medical marijuana research capital” in 2015. This didn’t happen overnight; Israel’s government has encouraged cannabis research since the 1960s.

Hebrew University Prof. Raphael Mechoulam, an Israel Prize winner, is credited with pioneering medical cannabis research 50 years ago. He isolated the active compound from cannabis, THC, and inspired generations of researchers in several countries.

Cannabis has been used in research to treat conditions including diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, myeloma, psoriasis, fibromyalgia, PTSD, cancer, multiple sclerosis (MS), chronic pain, and broken bones.

Israel is one of the leading cannabinoid centers of research in the world. There are about two dozen groups working on it and people come from all around the world to see what we do,” Mechoulam told ISRAEL21c in 2012.

In January this year, the government announced it is investing $2.13 million in 13 research projects including the effect of cannabis on metabolic syndrome, MS, preventing transplanted organ rejection, and inhibiting the development of harmful bacteria.

GENETIC ENGINEERING

GMO may have a negative implication in food, but when it comes to medical marijuana, genetic engineering is deemed crucial for treating a range of diseases.

Israeli scientists are among the world leaders in modifying marijuana’s molecular structure to tailor cannabinoids to specific receptors for treating symptoms.

Hebrew University researchers synthesized 22 versions of the cannabinoid THC that have great potential for treating neurological and inflammatory diseases.

“The Hebrew University holds a rich IP bank of cannabis patents. It is easier to conduct cannabis research and clinical studies in Israel than in any other country in the world,” says Kaye.

AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGIES

Tikun Olam is the first and foremost supplier of medical cannabis in Israel, and one of the leading medical cannabis companies in the world. It has developed a range of proprietary varieties – perhaps up to 230 – used in clinical medical trials.

Existing growing technologies are being adapted to the marijuana crop, while new technologies are geared specifically to this healing plant.

Kaye points to drip irrigation as an example of old technology helping marijuana growers. “Companies like Netafim can adapt their technology to our needs,” he says. “For them, cannabis is just another crop.”

New entrepreneurs with agriculture technologies for the medical marijuana market include the Leaf home cultivation system and Flux’s IoT hydroponic gardening tool.

Using Flux’s smart device, Eddy, “you can dial in your favorite strain and Eddy will become your easy button, making that strain grow to perfection and according to your medical needs,” Flux founder and Marketing VP Karin Kloosterman tells ISRAEL21c.

PHARMA

In addition to decriminalizing personal marijuana use, the Israeli government is on a mission to regulate medical marijuana and make it more accessible and available by prescription at pharmacies.

“Cannabis should be considered, so far as possible, in the same manner as any other medicinal product, requiring supervision and regulation in order to protect public health and welfare, even when taking into account its special characteristics — being a plant rather than a product manufactured in a laboratory or factory,” according to the Health Ministry’s Medical Cannabis Unit.

OWC Pharmaceutical Research
, a developer of cannabinoid-based therapies targeting a variety of different indications, and Breath of Life Pharma, which provides cannabis-based medical products and cannabinoid APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients), are working with the Health Ministry, universities, medical institutions and researchers to develop cannabis-based pharmaceuticals and treatments.

International companies regularly join forces with Israeli academic and medical institutions to create new medications.

For example, Kalytera Therapeutics, a US company developing a new class of proprietary cannabidiol (CBD) therapeutics, recently licensed two synthetic cannabis derivatives from the Hebrew University’s technology transfer company Yissum, for eventual use in treating osteoporosis, bone fractures and other diseases.

“Medical cannabis is increasingly being used for a variety of indications, such as reducing nausea during chemotherapy and relieving pain and muscle spasticity in multiple sclerosis patients. Development of state-of-the art delivery systems for the active ingredients will undoubtedly pave the way for a wider variety of clinical indications for these types of drugs,” Yaacov Michlin, CEO of Yissum, told ISRAEL21c in 2015.

Kalytera also inked a multimillion-dollar deal to purchase Talent Biotech of Bnei Brak, a startup that won the pitch event at CannaTech 2016
.

MEDICAL DEVICES

Once the cannabis has been grown, extracted and formulated, it needs a delivery system for proper dosage — a tablet, a patch, a nasal spray or a cigarette, for example. And that’s where Israeli ingenuity comes in.

Late last year, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries agreed to market medical cannabis for pain management in Israel with a revolutionary selective-dose pharmaceutical-grade medicinal plants inhaler from Tel Aviv-based Syqe Medical.

Israeli-American company Cannabics Pharmaceuticals is working to put the medicinal compounds of cannabis into a sustained-release capsule in standardized doses.

And Australia-based PhytoTech Medical is developing an adhesive patch with medical cannabis, based on Hebrew University technologies.

Israel is way ahead in adaptable technologies for the industry in an industry that hasn’t yet created its own technologies,” says Kaye.

CannaTech 2017 - The Future of Medicine: Genetics Based Personalized Treatment - Dr. David Meiri

Published on Apr 19, 2017

Dr. David "Dedi" Meiri from the Cancer Research lab at the Technion in Israel (aka "Dedi's Lab") takes us through a fascinating presentation on the identification of the effects of different Cannabis extracts on the proliferation and cell death of various cancer cell lines (and classification) according to genetic profile.

1. I think this is a very interesting presentation that takes a few replays to understand because I am not a scientist or Doctor. However, notice Dr. Meiri is looking for a specific cannabinoid to combat the illness based on the research he started 2 years ago.

2. They are now able to take an extract and identify the cannabinoids and 20 different strains that can be prescribed to the patient. Dr. Mieri mentions that each strain is a different medicine. There is a specifity between what is in the cannabis and what is affecting the cells being treated.

3. 96 different treatments are being analyzed by Israeli researchers and it is very important that the right type of cannabis is used to combat different illnesses due to the different effectiveness of each strain of cannabinoids. There is at least 144 different cannabinoids.

4. They are noticing that there is variability in the effectiveness of different cannabis types grown in different greenhouses at different times.

Connections to BLDV

Notice at 5:50 in the June 1, 2017 interview how the BLDV CEO refers to grow operations being set up in Florida and how they are high tech. The CEO explains that in the MMJ industry they are more concerned with the exact complement of cannabinoids in the plant. Josh indicates it is more of a recipe relying on genetics and monitoring of controllable factors within controlled spaces.

BLDV's environmental control knowledge through their work with Zeno Controls and Verve Living Systems gave them the position to understand the total environment of the space. Josh indicates that in the MMJ industry, it is important to bring technology to different areas. Connect the dots!

I think as pharmaceutical companies introduce different cannabis extracts and doctors start prescribing different MMJ targeted to treat specific illnesses, they will require reliable cultivators that can control grow and environmental factors to ensure the right cannabinoids are provided in the right MMJ strain as part of a secure and safe MMJ supply on a consistent basis.

Hence, this is why I think BLDV's approach to partner with Israeli firms to secure multiple opportunities to bring Medical Cannabis products and technology to North America where AMS will implement the correct high tech cultivation methods as part of the integrated facility approach is timely and full of foresight of the future MMJ market. CannaTech 2017 - Yuval Landschaft, Director of Medical Cannabis Unit - Israel Ministry of Health

Published on Apr 19, 2017

Enjoy this inspiring address by the Director of the IMCA, the Israeli Medical Cannabis Agency, as he shares where Israel cannabis is headed (hint: it's all about medicalization).

1. See 4:36 for explanation of Cannacopia, 7:57 for GAP and GMP and 11:51 for contacts the Israeli Ministry of Health received from the UN and other nations wanting to see the GCP. To this end, notice how this aligns with what BLDV stated in the 6/28/17 PR that Medical cannabis standards are being implemented not only in the USA, but also in Europe, Canada and Mexico.

2. Note from the BLDV 6/28/17 PR, how BLDV is on the forefront of developments in technology and cannabis practices and standards to be able to state the following in the PR:

Blue Diamond Ventures Inc. (BLDV) and their wholly owned subsidiary Cannabis-Clean of Denver, will work with existing Israeli Cannabis Farms, Government Regulators, and third-party Certification Agencies to develop Sanitation and Anti-Bacterial protocols that will comply with the new GAP and GMP standards being developed in Israel.

Within the Health Ministry, Landschaft told participants how he spearheaded the creation of “the Torah of cannabis” regulation. Landschaft’s “Torah of cannabis,” which he also dubbed “Cannacopia,” contains five sections on Israel Medical Cannabis: IMC-GCP, IMC-GAP, IMC-GMP, IMCGDP and IMC-GSP (Good Clinical Practice, Good Agricultural Practice, Good Manufacturing Practice, Good Delivery Practice and Good Safety Practice).

AMS is in the final stage to gain a full license to grow, market and sell medicinal cannabis products via Health Canada. BLDV has been working with AMS over the last year to finalize funding for its Fifty (50) thousand square foot cultivation facility.

"There has been recognition, by the Canadian Government, for the need to allow import and export in this industry," says Joshua B. Alper, CEO of BLDV. "This new effort will ensure that AMS, when licensed, will be a Global Project, with their products being available worldwide and with access to the ingredients and technology that will continue to make AMS a leader in the Canadian market." "We are excited to launch this effort with BLDV," said Joseph Groleau, VP Business Development for AMS.

"With the specialized products and technologies coming into Canada from Israel, and access to global markets with our finished products, we see this as a separate profit center that could even outgrow our efforts in cultivation." Canada will be the home to the new joint venture, and the first market focus will be to bring Israeli Cannabis products and technology to Canada. "AMS is the perfect partner for this project," said Joshua B. Alper, CEO of Blue Diamond Ventures, Inc. "They have a great team at AMS that has been challenged by the ever-shifting landscape of compliance and financial requirements, this project can create significant revenue even prior to AMS receiving the cultivation and manufacturing licenses from Health Canada."

BLDV + Israel + Eltron Research + Global Market for Cannabis: What we know so far

1. Facebook - 3/20/17: BLDV discloses that Joshua B. Alper, CEO of Blue Diamond Ventures, Inc. is attending the 2017 CannaTech event on March 20 - 22, 2017

CannaTech is an annual event hosted in Israel, the heartland of innovation. CannaTech is designed to bring together the world’s most dynamic cannabis professionals for a rare chance to network, kick around conventional thinking about medical cannabis.

CannaTech showcases the full spectrum of global industry leaders, spanning the fields of science, research, finance, medicine, government policy, tech innovation, agriculture & entrepreneurship, at one outstanding event with a singular focus on cannabis and all the opportunity that surrounds it.

- Note the key highlights and how they are trying to describe the caliber of this event and in turn BLDV's intentions of attending the event
Here are the highlights from Cannatech 2017:

2. 4/26/17 PR and 5/3/17 Facebook: BLDV discloses that Jonathan Alper, Manager of Blue Diamond Consulting LLC and Principle of Alper & Associates Consulting, is traveling to Israel on Thursday, May 5th as an official representative of BLDV.

Mr. Alper will be meeting with government officials, and current & prospective clients to fully understand the logistics of importing/exporting cannabis products to and from Israel.

“I have done business in Israel for over 40 years,” said Alper “Regulatory Compliance is key, we will now start to coordinate our efforts with Health Canada, and the Israeli Health Ministries, Cannabis Unit

- Notice how: i) There is explicit disclosure of the purpose of Jonathan's trip to Israel and how it relates to importing/exporting.

ii) The disclosure is not to discuss possibilities, but to discuss logistics and starting coordination thereby possibly indicating at how far they could be in the process

iii) There is explicit disclosure that Jonathan is travelling to Israel as an official representative. Official representatives are normally authorized to transact and engage in on behalf of who they represent, i.e. BLDV:

3. 4/26/17 PR and 5/3/17 Facebook: BLDV discloses that on May 28th, 2017, Joshua B. Alper CEO of Blue Diamond will be returning to Israel to conduct the next round of meetings on the Technology & Science side.

“We have the MJ Daily on May 16th, the LIFT Show in Toronto May 26th, and then back to Israel on May 28th, “says Josh “The timing could not be better

- Note the timing of the trips from #2 to #3 and then how it falls after the Lift Show. Also, the post explicitly states that it is the next round of meetings. I think this is another possible indication of how far they could possibly be in the process.

4. 4/20/17 PR: Key excerpts are: i) BLDV has entered into a Joint Development Agreement with Alternative Medical Solutions Inc., to import & export Targeted Medicinal Cannabis Products and Advanced Cannabis Technologies, to and from Canada.

- I do not think BLDV and AMS would enter into a JV if they were not possibly sure of the road they are taking with each and into other countries

ii) The recent CannaTech Conference in Israel provided the forum to secure the initial agreements required to pursue this effort

- Further to 4.i above, I think BLDV could be telling us that they have agreements in Israel to support/demand the other side of the JV with AMS

iii) This new effort will ensure that AMS, when licensed, will be a Global Project, with their products being available worldwide and with access to the ingredients and technology that will continue to make AMS a leader in the Canadian market."

- Further to 4.ii above, I think BLDV could be telling us that they will equip AMS with the necessary ingredients and technologies (hint: Israel) to become a player in the Global and Canadian market, thereby solidifying the need of both AMS and Israel Cannabis for each other

iv) "We are excited to launch this effort with BLDV," said Joseph Groleau, VP Business Development for AMS. "With the specialized products and technologies coming into Canada from Israel, and access to global markets with our finished products, we see this as a separate profit center that could even outgrow our efforts in cultivation."

- Further to 4.iii above, I think AMS could be trying to highlight the significance of the JV and how their ability to access and export global markets might be bigger than cultivation

v) Canada will be the home to the new joint venture, and the first market focus will be to bring Israeli Cannabis products and technology to Canada. "AMS is the perfect partner for this project," said Joshua B. Alper, CEO of Blue Diamond Ventures, Inc.

- Notice how the CEO BLDV is re-emphasizing the importance of the JV to bring Israeli products and technology to Canada but also indicating it will be the first market focus. It is possible that BLDV is planning to export to other markets after they succeed in the Israeli and Canadian markets in order to possibly become a Global Exporter.

5. 5/10/17 Facebook: BLDV confirms that Jonathan Alper, Blue Diamond Director has been in Israel for the past few days conducting meetings on behalf of BLDV.

- Good to the see follow through on #2 that the trip took place in the same capacity BLDV indicated Jonathan would.

Check out this CNN documentary on Israel's Cannabis Research and the science behind the research:

Israel : World capital of Cannabis Research

6. 5/26/17 PR: Blue Diamond Ventures Inc. announces a strategic partnership with Eltron Research & Development of Boulder Colorado, the creators of the ImPAAct™ Peracetic Acid Generator : Eltron R&D specializes in Material Sciences and adds considerable strength to BLDV on multiple levels.

- The key disclosures in this PR are that:

i) BLDV has been named the Representative of Eltron for Israel and Canada and will be facilitating the licensing of the PAA technology in those countries.

ii) Blue Diamond Ventures will also use the expertise of Eltron to help achieve the goal of bringing Targeted Cannabis Therapies from Israel to the USA and to Canada as part of the previously announced venture with AMS of Hanover, Canada.

http://www.eltronresearch.com

- Eltron's technology includes: IMPAACT™ Generator

The ImPAAct reactor from Eltron Water Systems is a patent-pending product to meet your disinfection, bleaching, or chemical oxidation needs. ImPAAct is an onsite reactor that quickly generates peracetic acid (PAA) at concentrations up to 3.5% from concentrated feedstock chemicals. The ImPAAct reactor also has the ability to blend hydrogen peroxide, sulfuric acid, and acetic acid to match the chemistry of equilibrium PAA and the ability for pH adjustment. The ImPAAct works with process streams that have a broad pH range and at temperatures less than 55°C.

7. 6/12/17 PR: Blue Diamond Ventures Inc, Restructures around Israeli Cannabis Opportunities - Key highlights:

i) Blue Diamond has secured multiple opportunities to bring Medical Cannabis products and technology to North America.

- I think this part of the PR is trying to tell us that BLDV has set the stage and has the mechanisms in place to be able to sell products and technology to North America.

ii) Israel has a Startup mentality and companies there understand the need to move quickly said Josh Alper CEO of BLDV, but realistically it is not simple to do business there, we have 40+ years experience with the politics and the culture of the area, combined with the scientific knowledge that is required

- The four bolded words in blue are key in this part, the first three are Josh and Jonathan the fourth is Eltron Research. I think this part of the PR is trying to emphasize the challenges of operating in Israel, yet in #1 they mention that they have secured multiple opportunities, so I think they are trying to tell us they succeeded despite the challenges; i.e. they have the key success factors. Time will tell.

iii) The tradition pharma industry hopes to change the approach to the medical cannabis industry by leveraging clinical trails preformed in Israel, but at the same time the Cannabis plant is changing the industry by achieving real success with less than pharmaceutical grade products.

- I find this part interesting in terms of how often they are mentioning the pharmaceutical industry. Also, notice how the effects of the Cannabis plant on the traditional industry is highlighted. I wonder if they are trying to tell us something about the caliber or size of partnerships they have secured that want in due to the fact that cannabis is changing the industry. Time will tell.

- Finally, remember that Josh told us in the last interview that Israel is the only country in the world that has clinical trials on humans for cannabis. I find it interesting that this is mentioned again in the PR.

iv) Blue Diamond will create a wholly owned subsidiary Blue Diamond Technologies LLC to focus on these opportunities, this unit will be based in Toronto, details of the new structure and specifics on the agreements from Israel will be released during the conference call.

- Key word here is technologies. I think this part is telling us that the technologies they now have access to are significant enough to require a subsidiary on their own. Also, the Toronto headquarters is interestingly close to AMS in Hannover, Ontario. Equally important is that the details on the Israeli agreements will be announced in the Conference call.

10 key reasons why I own BLDV:

I am okay to step back and give BLDV MGMT time to organically build a solid corporation that will have long-term sustainable and stable value because:

1. I like their management style of no promotions and no-hype, no-fluff PRs

https://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/BLDV/news

2. MGMT is spending a lot of time, effort and travel expenses to build international partnerships in Israel, in the U.S. with Eltron Research and a JV in Canada to build value into BLDV

Key highlights from BLDV 6/12/17 PR:

Blue Diamond Ventures Inc, Restructures around Israeli Cannabis Opportunities

1. Blue Diamond has secured multiple opportunities to bring Medical Cannabis products and technology to North America.

- I think this part of the PR is trying to tell us that BLDV has set the stage and has the mechanisms in place to be able to sell products and technology to North America.

2. Israel has a Startup mentality and companies there understand the need to move quickly said Josh Alper CEO of BLDV, but realistically it is not simple to do business there, we have 40+ years experience with the politics and the culture of the area, combined with the scientific knowledge that is required

- The four bolded words in blue are key in this part. The first three are Josh and Jonathan and the fourth is Eltron Research. I think this part of the PR is trying to emphasize the challenges of operating in Israel, yet in #1 they mention that they have secured multiple opportunities, so I think they are trying to tell us they succeeded despite the challenges; i.e. they have the key success factors. Time will tell.

3. The tradition pharma industry hopes to change the approach to the medical cannabis industry by leveraging clinical trials preformed in Israel, but at the same time the Cannabis plant is changing the industry by achieving real success with less than pharmaceutical grade products.

4. We now have access to a range of genetics, protocols, devices, and technologies that can be licensed now to operators in Canada in partnership with AMS, and offered to Best in Breed operators in all 50 states continued Alper, in addition we have started talks with a group in Mexico City to leverage the new laws there.

- I think this part is loaded:

i) I think they are setting the stage to let us know the types of products and technologies they now have access to license to Canadian customers in partnership with AMS. Key here is the AMS JV; it's as if AMS is more significant than it seems. Remember that Josh mentioned in the last interview that building revenues is their goal, i.e. licensing revenues.

ii) Plus they mention that they can offer these products and technologies to operators in the U.S., notice how they mention states. I am guessing here that they are trying to indicate that regardless of state laws, the operators will/can need/buy these valuable products and technologies.

iii) Mexico City is something we have not heard about yet and I think it speaks strongly to the worldwide appeal and international growth of cannabis that we have been reading about in the DD. BLDV is going more international and it begs the question as to what BLDV has that would interest potential customers/partners even in Mexico. Also, I find it impressive as to how they stay on top of the changing legislative environment for cannabis in North America.

5. Blue Diamond will create a wholly owned subsidiary Blue Diamond Technologies LLC to focus on these opportunities, this unit will be based in Toronto, details of the new structure and specifics on the agreements from Israel will be released during the conference call.

- Key word here is technologies. I think this part is telling us that the technologies they now have access to are significant enough to require a subsidiary on their own. Also, the Toronto headquarters is interestingly close to AMS in Hannover, Ontario. Equally important and significant is that the details on the Israeli agreements will be released during the Conference Call.

Overall: I think this PR is following through in general on BLDV's efforts in Israel and sets the stage for future updates in regards to BLDV's integrated approach to cannabis. Notice how the parts above all fit together. To this end, remember the entire facility approach that Josh mentioned in the last interview.

I think people will realize that BLDV is not your traditional hyped up ticker with significant PRs that cause pps spikes. From the last interview, we know that Josh has a long-term view to build a solid corporation with long-term pps value growth. Therefore, I think this PR is setting the stage to continue to build the integrated approach to cannabis and to build value into BLDV with the pps eventually reflecting this value, not the other way around.

Go BLDV!

Key highlights from BLDV 6/21/17 PR:

Blue Diamond Ventures, Inc. Provides Updates on Michigan Growth Fund

Joshua Alper CEO of BLDV outlines plans for the Michigan Growth Fund

June 21, 2017 Blue Diamond Ventures Inc. (OTC PK: BLDV) – Denver Colorado:

Blue Diamond Ventures Inc. (BLDV) has announced the launch of Michigan Growth LLC.

Michigan Growth LLC will fund the construction of multiple cannabis real estate properties, then lease the buildings to licensed Commercial Cannabis Growers in South West Michigan.

Blue Diamond has adopted a unique approach to Cannabis Real Estate in Michigan using Triple Net Leases, Medical Focus, and Public Share involvement. The Fund is projected to raise approximately $10 Million USD. Blue Diamond shares issued to investors for this project will be issued with a SIX (6) YEAR RESTRICTION, the investment is in a limited partnership in the buildings themselves and the stock represents a parallel path for investors to benefit. The Plans include an estimated twelve projects, along the Route 12 corridor from New Buffalo to Niles MI. This project is expected to provide economic growth and much need jobs for this region.

“Over the past several months, I have attended municipal meetings, met with city managers and city planners from multiple towns and villages. As a result, we have been able to identify several locations suitable for medical cannabis facilities, and we are actively pursuing those opportunities. In addition, we have several leases lined up, ready to rent space once buildings are completed.” Said Josh Alper CEO of BLDV.

Jonathan Alper Board Member and Licensed Landscape Architect also commented: “I have reviewed the sites that Josh has designated as possible locations for the Michigan Growth to build medical cannabis real estate projects on, and there is a synergy between the towns involved in this effort. We hope to create sort of a “Emerald Rectangle” in Southwest Michigan. This type of project truly plays to our strengths as an organization”

Blue Diamond is working closely with Jillian Sidoti, of Trowbridge Sidoti LLP to develop the Michigan Growth investment package and we expect to launch the fund within the month of July. Additional updates will follow soon.

#68847 RE: stervc #66595

Key highlights from BLDV 7/31/17 PR:

Blue Diamond Ventures Inc. Adds Three to Advisory Board

- Below are my thoughts on what I think is another loaded PR from BLDV demonstrating how BLDV's developing advisory board requirements are relevant follow through's on previous PRs.

BLDV Prepares for September Projects with Strategic Additions

- I think this subtitle is a key indicator of upcoming projects in September which I am presuming will be announced. This is my favour part of the PR. Key word is September.

July 31, 2017 Blue Diamond Ventures Inc. (OTC PK: BLDV) – Denver Colorado:

Blue Diamond Ventures Inc. (BLDV) adds depth to each of their major efforts in the Cannabis Industry by building out the Advisory Board.

- This is the first time I hear of a BLDV advisory board. Many times I see other companies issuing advisory board PRs that I would glance over only to see their pps start rising a while after the PR announcing an advisory board.

- I do not think a public company would add an advisory board unless they require subject matter experts, hence the word depth in the PR, on some significant/important projects. Members of the advisory board are not cheap to hire and I am presuming BLDV needs their expertise to satisfy some project and/or client service needs.

- Note the use of the word major efforts; BLDV MGMT is not the type to put such words in a PR unless they have something significant they are working on such as the Israeli projects, the Michigan Real Estate fund and AMS mentioned in this PR.

Medical Focus
– Israeli Technologies, Targeted Therapies

Dr. Michele Ross joins as an important advisor to BLDV concerning current clinical trials, medical breakthroughs and synergies between researchers, patients and available therapies.

Dr. Michele Ross is Founder, Executive Director, and President of the Denver-based 501c3 nonprofit IMPACT Network. As a neuroscientist, she was frustrated by the lack of education on the endocannabinoid system both doctors and scientists received, despite medical cannabis being used by millions of patients nationwide. In 2013, she founded the “Endocannabinoid Deficiency Foundation,” now known as IMPACT Network, with the mission to make medical cannabis treatment a first-line therapy for patients by educating patients, healthcare professionals and policy makers and driving clinical cannabis research

- Notice how before introducing Dr. Ross, the PR mentions Medical Focus + Israeli Technologies + Targeted Therapies = I read this as saying BLDV has some major projects going on IMO.

- The PR further states that Dr. Ross will be an important advisor to BLDV concerning:

1. Current clinical trials

- Remember from the 6/12/17 PR when BLDV mentioned how the pharmaceutical industry is leveraging clinical trials performed in Israel. Key word is pharmaceutical industry and now BLDV has a doctor to advise them. I think this is major.

http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=132355563&txt2find=trials

- Remember the Interview: CEO Joshua Alper of Blue Diamond Ventures, Inc. published on June 1, 2017 where BLDV CEO indicates that Israel is the only country in the world that is conducting cannabis clinical trials on humans - see 1:33:

2. Medical breakthroughs

- I am thinking this could possibly be the benefit of the Israeli technologies that BLDV will have access to.

3. Synergies between researchers, patients and available therapies

- This could be the value prospect that BLDV will be generating for its clients

AMS Farms Canada – Future home of Licensed Technology

- I do not think it gets clearer than this hint on the future of AMS with BLDV and how AMS will house the licensed technologies as part of their JV with AMS that was mentioned in the 4/20/17 PR:

http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=133175091&txt2find=ams

Joseph Groleau is Business Development Director and a Principle of Alternative Medical Solutions and joins as an advisor to BLDV for Canadian Business Ventures and Grow Operations.

- Another big hint on the future of BLDV in regards to Mr. Groleau advising BLDV on Canadian business ventures and grow operations. However, my question is why would they need Mr. Groleau as an advisor when he is already part of AMS. I am wondering if there is more than meets the eye to his advisory role in terms of what BLDV has going on.

Cannabis Real Estate & Technology Fund – Buildings, Licensed Brands and Specialized IP

Richard Paniagua joins the Advisory Board of BLDV with diverse Venture Capital, Investment, and Operational Management Experience including real estate, import/export, software development and agriculture.

- I think the investment, operational management, real estate and agriculture experience that Mr. Paniagua is bringing are relevant and indicative of the size of BLDV's efforts and requirements for the Michigan Growth Fund that were updated in the 6/21/17 PR:

http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=132362093

In other News: Kenneth Teknus will be stepping down as a Consultant to BLDV, and will no longer be associated with the company. We thank Ken for his time with Blue Diamond Ventures and wish him the best in any future endeavors.

- I think this announcement demonstrates how BLDV is graduating to the next level by brining on new advisory board members to replace old consultants.

Key highlights and breakdown of BLDV 7/31/17 PR:

Blue Diamond Ventures Inc. launches Israeli Operation to Develop Standards

New office for BLDV in Israel will manage the development of Sanitation & Cleaning Protocols for Cannabis-Clean

September 26, 2017 Blue Diamond Ventures Inc. (OTC PK: BLDV) Denver, Colorado / Tel-Aviv, Israel

Blue Diamond Ventures Inc. (BLDV) will open an Israeli office next month to manage the development of new Cleaning and Sanitation Protocols. The work product produced will become the core of Cannabis-Clean’s comprehensive offering directed at Cannabis Growers, Processors and Dispensaries. The new total facility approach will focus on a combination of procedures, equipment, supplies and training to build good sanitation practice into the design of new facilities, and retrofit when possible into existing cannabis facilities.

Cannabis-Clean has provided BLDV with a solid base in the Cannabis market in Colorado for over two years. Steve McMorrow, the President of Cannabis-Clean and a Director for BLDV says “We believe that the work being done in Israel will represent the state-of-the-art for sanitation in Cannabis Growing and Processing Facilities” McMorrow continued “It’s all about compliance, by adopting proven methods, growers can ensure that their products will pass the stricter testing being employed.”

Cannabis-Clean is transitioning from a janitorial type contractor to a “parts and smarts” approach to Sanitation and Cleaning. Leveraging the experience of Blue Diamond Consulting in building and construction, the new approach will produce a customized set of procedures for each facility. “We are using the same principles employed by the energy services sector” said Josh Alper CEO of BLDV, “Capture the data with a comprehensive building inspection, or review a set of plans, and then apply the proven solutions.”

Jonathan Alper will be back in Israel next week to finalize the new company. The office in Israel will initially be focused on the scope for Cannabis-Clean, and will then serve as a base to expand the goals of BLDV in Israel and pursue projects with local partners.

About BLDV:
Blue Diamond Ventures, Inc. is a diversified customer centric Management / Holding Company; Blue Diamond Ventures, Inc. seeks opportunities in various markets and is driven by critical thinking, the scientific method and compassionate ways to deliver sustainable results.

About Cannabis-Clean:

Blue Diamond Ventures Inc., Funding & Project Update

BLDV Secures Funding for Core Projects

October 23, 2017 Blue Diamond Ventures Inc. (OTC PK: BLDV)
Denver Colorado:

CEO Josh Alper of Blue Diamond Ventures Inc. (BLDV) provides answers to funding and revenue questions posed by the market.

What’s happening with AMS Farms Canada?

BLDV and AMS have a strategic partnership, we are less concerned with final debt structures and financing details, as these are defined by the PPM, and more interested in ensuring that AMS moves forward with a competitive advantage. This will be achieved by leveraging technologies, and assisting each other in meeting goals. Joseph Groleau from AMS joined our advisory board back in July and has already made an impact with the introduction to Quality Green Inc, our most recent Build to Lease client in Ontario. AMS and BLDV are moving forward with the joint venture effort of Blue Diamond Technologies, Canada, which will be the sister company of Blue Diamond Technologies, Israel. The two companies will provide a technology exchange mechanism between Canada and Israel for the Cannabis industry.

It is true that the 12 Million USD in funding for 50,000-sq. ft. AMS farm is taking longer than expected, but the landscape has changed as well. A recent decision was made by the province of Ontario to operate all the dispensaries. This decision makes growing licenses in Ontario more valuable and Health Canada is committed to help existing applicants to insure adequate supply. AMS is positioned well in this process, and may look to develop multiple locations simultaneously much like Quality Green Inc. BLDV is not prohibited from owning a Cannabis Farm in Canada.

How will BLDV fund its core projects?

BLDV received $100K in non-dilutive funding, from private investors, in October to fund operations. BLDV paid back $40K in short term loans, and retired 130 Million Shares back to the treasury. Revenues for group for the Quarter were up to $250K including Blue Diamond Consulting billing $50K for land development consulting fees in the 3rd Quarter of 2017, and increased revenues from MPT and the bettyBOT Shop.

BLDV in addition received $35K in deposits for build-to-lease projects in September & October of 2017.

Additional funding is always required, however the core Real Estate, Sanitation and Technology tracks in the Cannabis Sector can be safely secured and sustained until the projected revenues are attained.

BLDV is seeking to sell the existing 40% stake in Now Brands LLC, the maker of Olde Imperial

Mystic Vodka, the sale is related to the complications of being in both the Cannabis & Alcohol business. Federal compliance, state licenses, certifications, taxes, etc. The recent rebranding of the product has been warmly received by the market and I am still a believer in the product. Funds from the sale of Now Brands LLC will be used to finance a full audit of BLDV to reach the goal of SEC Reporting by June of next year.

How will the Cann10 North America Project be funded?

Cann10 North America is the single largest project that BLDV has taken on since I came on as CEO in March of 2016. Cann10 Israel is the leading Cannabis Group in the Israel, and focuses on Education, Conferences, Research and Technology, the new joint venture will be in Canada and will be responsible for driving a professional cannabis education effort, while planning a world class conference for late 2018. Cann10 North America will secure investment in the Cann10 Israel Technology Accelerator that will be the future of the cannabis Industry. The strict Bio-Tech approach to the Cannabis Space in the Cann10 Model is not the fastest path to revenue, but will create lasting significant profits and a sustainable competitive advantage.

Cann10 North America will sell equity to fund the startup of the Professional Education Programs in the USA and Canada, and enable the first Cann10 Medical Cannabis Conference in the USA in 2018.

How will the Cannabis Real Estate Projects be funded?

BLDV is the process of preparing a Private Placement Memorandum (PPM) for a 506(c) that will be used to raise the funds required to build, renovate, and/or acquire the facilities to lease to licensed cannabis operators. Documents have been contracted for the Michigan Properties and we are now working on the investment documents for the Canadian properties. Investors are limited partners in a real estate project. Multiple buildings are anticipated, each as a separate project.

How will Clean 1st, Cannabis Clean & Cannabis Clean Supply be funded?

BLDV is turning Cannabis Clean into a Technology Company combined with a Supply Division, having been in the Cannabis space for almost 4 years, Steve McMorrow has successfully managed to bring many collaborative partners to the table. Steve and I will be in Vegas together for the MJ Biz Conference in mid-November to describe the new format to the market in conjunction with a new web-site and e-store. BLDV is raising $150K for Cannabis Clean in a combination equity and debt format that will fund the transition.

About BLDV: Blue Diamond Ventures, Inc. seeks to partner with individuals and companies that share a common synergy, mission and vision to enable products/services that are produced, delivered and consumed utilizing fewer natural resources, providing a sustainable alternative to traditional products on the market today. As a diversified customer, centric Management / Holding Company; Blue Diamond Ventures, Inc. seeks opportunities in various markets and is driven by critical thinking and the scientific
method.

At a Glance: Cannabis Taxation - Department of Finance of Canada

Date modified: 2017-11-10

The current approach to cannabis is not working, and the Government of Canada is committed to legalizing, regulating and restricting access to cannabis to keep it out of the hands of kids, and profits out of the hands of criminals. The Department of Finance Canada is consulting on a proposed new taxation regime on cannabis, which will help us achieve those goals, and is working with the provinces and territories to ensure a coordinated approach across the country.

Proposed Excise Duty Framework

The Government of Canada believes that the total of federal and provincial-territorial taxes on cannabis products should not exceed $1.00 per gram, or 10 per cent of the producer’s sale price of a product, and that this tax room should be shared equally between the two orders of government. The proposed federal excise duty rate would be 50 cents per gram of cannabis, or 5 per cent of the producer’s sale price of that product. An additional rate would apply for an agreeing province or territory.

The proposed duty would apply to all cannabis products available for legal sale, including fresh and dried cannabis, cannabis oils, as well as seeds and seedlings for home cultivation. The rate will also apply to the sale of medical cannabis.

It is important to note that excise duties are not paid directly by consumers. Rather, they are paid by manufacturers.

Application of Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax (GST/HST)

Cannabis product sales will be taxable under the Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax (GST/HST), as is currently the case for medical cannabis, for example.

Unlike the excise duty, GST/HST is paid directly by consumers at the point of sale.

The following example shows the final price paid by consumers at a combined rate of $1.00 per gram, or 10 per cent of the sale price:

One gram of dried cannabis

Pre-duty price: $8.00

Excise duty (per gram): $1.00

Subtotal: $9.00

GST/HST: $1.17

Total: $10.17

60 ml bottle of cannabis oil

Pre-duty price: $130.00

Excise duty (per cent): $13.00

Subtotal: $143.00

GST/HST: $18.59

Total: $161.59

Secondary link to Proposed Excise Duty Framework for Cannabis Products that the Government of Canada is seeking feedback on: https://www.fin.gc.ca/n17/data/17-114_1-eng.asp

- I understand that the $8.00 is presented for illustrative purposes only; however, the total of federal and provincial-territorial taxes of $1.00 per gram, or 10 per cent of the producer’s sale price of a product that the Government of Canada is proposing has what I think is an imputed $10.00 per gram ceiling price ($1.00/10%). I could be wrong, if anyone has any thoughts please share them.

- Stervc, your valuation in your post #66595 (link back) assumes 30 million grams per harvest for AMS only. Assuming they obtain the funding, I think your valuation would yield revenues that are almost 2.7 times higher if we use the illustrative $8/gram (30 million grams x $8/gram = $240 million revenue per harvest approximately) which we could assume is the price before excise duties and taxes using what I think is the imputed price presented above. Do you agree? If yes, whenever you could kindly post an updated valuation post that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Go BLDV!

4. BLDV CEO Interviews:

i) 10/2/17 BLDV CEO interview: BLDV CEO discusses a few core details about the Quality Green agreement and the 506C structure of funding that makes this agreement happen in the YT clip below.

Quality Green Inc. is mentioned at the following YouTube clip intervals:

4:45 – Deal signed with Quality Green

5:15 – Explanation of how controlled distribution system provides opportunity to Quality Green where BLDV provides growing facility without having to apply for funding because they have a provincial government customer. Quality Green signed the LOI.

6:06 – Notice how the interviewer asks if BLDV will own 100% of Quality Green; however, BLDV CEO clarifies that BLDV will build and only own the growing facility for Quality Green.

ii) 12/4/17 BLDV CEO interview: BLDV discusses the following important developments about Quality Green in the YT clip below:

5:04 – BLDV took a bet with them that Quality Green would get their license

5:08 – Already have approval for construction of a new 15,000 sq. ft. facility .

5:16 – BLDV will provide a 30,000 sq. ft. (originally scheduled to be 7,500 sq. ft.) facility on the build lease program

5:27 – I think the key idea here that Josh mentions is how approvals from Health Canada encourage cannabis growers to expand and thereby provide supply. Furthermore, I think the supply capacity factor will affect future industry dynamics in Canada and the value prospect/attractiveness of new Licensed Produces such as Quality Green, a client of BLDV.

5:48 – Quality green took a chance by going through a very expensive multi-year process to get a 2,000 sq. ft facility approved

6:00 – BLDV took a chance with Quality Green that their timing is right and CEO indicates they both hit it very well and then he goes on to explain positive investment environment and expansion implications of timing.

- Based on the information presented above, I think there is a strong relationship developing between BLDV and their client Quality Green Inc. who is already licensed and has plans to build up to a total of 47,000 sq. ft (2,000 sq. ft. + 15,000 sq. ft. + 30,000 sq. ft.) of growing space .
