You must have missed this part of the CC. Cold Crucible Injection Molding of LM105 is Engel machines right? Last i checked Eontec's machines are Hot Crucible Die-Cast.
Our Lake Forest facility will support volume production of three distinct technologies. First, our flagship cold crucible injection molding systems are in active use. These systems provide exceptional control over oxygen and other impurities that affect the performance of amorphous metal parts.
Parts are produced in high volumes with remarkable dimensional precision within microns, with high strength in corrosion resistance that is unique to bulk metallic glasses. We have extensively characterized the properties of our primary alloy LM105 which is produced to meet strict material chemistry specification. Our simplified production process and rigorous quality controls make our cold crucible system attractive for the most demanding customers including medical device manufacturers.
I plan to focus on 3 point for the future, The first, Liquidmetal is an American company, it has American brand and thats very important, we will soon move to a bigger facility and increase our production here in California, we will hire more experts and continue to invest in American manufacturing. Second, we have many good partners, we have very good injection machine from Engel and excellent material from Materion. We have cooperate for so many year and we are maintaining theses relationships, at the same time we are developing large customer who are leaders of their exciting markets.
Li is not getting rid of Engel machines, They have been referenced twice in the CC's Li has presided over.
Until Haulk can identify any "significant" (most demanding customers including medical device manufacturers) to take on Engel/LM105 superior output..... "significant" means exceed RSM two Engel machines volume capacity, there is no good reason to move the two Engel machines to Lake Forest.
Until any new PR, Haulk is "ZERO for 20 millions opportunities". One thing is rather clear, Li has not been involved in Engel/LM105 sales/marketing.
In mid summer open house, I surely hope Li will demonstrate the wonder of BMG one step process (for both Engel and Eontec machines) as shown on this video.
Better yet, he can demonstrate how Eontec machine can cast the infamous "mirror finish" mold that MA knife demanded. From the "mirror finish" mold, he can demonstrate how both Eontec and Engel machines can produce (or not) the "mirror finish" ultra precision MA knife (as advertised) in ONE STEP.
Later on this year, I envision he will target to complete the "mini" Eontec West in Lake Forest. It will have the complete "end to end" setup to process from Raw Material to End Customer product as shown in his slide.
