Very well said, and those low areas house the people who do the work. (They also house the crime element) But for whats its worth the condos will all meet hurricane wind problems and will be high rise to eliviate flood problems, insurance is an issue and I can personally attest to the rate increases, and the new hurricane deductable. Money is to be made here as this city will not be left to perish. Unless another major hurricane hits dead on real soon.

In my opinion NO could stand to do away with the slums...there were some seriously bad parts of town. Also Mayor idiot down there should quit with the "we'll be a chocolate city again" crap. IMO NO is likly to be a much better city now that the scum bags were forced to leave. Every city has a ghetto, but it was to the points that NO was the ghetto.

Can't wait to revisit the city. We used to go all the time in college. Great fun there...although 2-3 day's was about all I could take of the smell from puke and piss in the streets.

After seeing the huge estimates of rebuilding NO, the proximity of Pebbles to NO it is hard to not get excited at this little "potential" gem. I think that anyone who has custom built a house, a boat or restored an antique automobile knows the value of "estimates". After the estimate has doubled or tripled and you are still not finished........
When financials are made public this board should really heat up.
Speculation is nice but we need some meat.

off subject.... I do some diving in the San Juans and in Puget Sound. The water is cool but not really that big of a problem concerning hypothermia. The biggest problem is the currents with incoming and outgoing tides around the islands and the murky waters. Every summer divers disappear and many are not found. It is not unusual at all to be diving, lose your buddy and not find him until surfacing. Drift diving is popular as you just ride the current and try to stay together.
