If the gulf coast is any indication of the possibillities in NO, the prices did not drop. It still goes back to supply and demand. The demand is still there but the weak homes were wiped away (gulf coast). Everyone knows that the only way to survive is the big bucks concrete condos. NO is no exception. Evidently the Quarter in NO was built in the old days on the high ground. It will survive. If the levies are rebuilt better and reconstuction is concentrated in the high ground, then it only makes sense that supply and demand will dictate that the big bucks will come quick in the high ground. I have no solution for the vast low ground other than the canon fodder for the city. There is an unnatural demand to restore the city because of history. There is not necessarily a demand to rebuild the slums or low lands. What a quandry.
