I had a 95 and the exact same thing happened. It had 53K on it at the time sometime around the year 2000. I brought it in and the guy said "Good news and bad news. The good news is it isn't going to cost you anything." I interrupted "Then there IS no bad news.". He went on to say... "The bad news is it will take a several days." Big deal.
As it turns out they replaced the entire engine and many of the other parts for free and paid for a rental car AND it only took one day. I had no special warranty with them.
Yes, the flaw was Saturn's fault, but they made it right by me.
