Saturn SL 1 not bullit proof

I boutght a new 1996 SL1..Sometime in the "early years" I recieved an extended warranty on the head. Seems that they had a flaw that could result in a cracked head..

Time went on and I had forgotten about that..in 2006..long after the extended warranty expired..I started seeing peanut butter in the radiator and at the same time engine oil was disapearing a quart in a couple hundred miles..The head did crack..and Saturn would not do anything about it..other than say bring it in (65 miles) and if it is the crack..we will help you..but no indication as to how much..I had quotes of $2,000 to fix it..The car had 61k at that time..

A couple months before I spent $405 on towing and replacing the linkage of the manual transmission. I know of another instance where the linkage failed at 135k on one that did a lot of highway driving..

So, for years I thought the car was reliable..after that I rank it as unreliable..

The SL 2's have a diferent head so are probably not prone to that defect..
