One would hope. Apparently, the pilots and maintenance personnel passed on the blue book question about the MCAS system.

Too bad their negligence resulted in the death of the passengers and the destruction of the aircraft.

As you said, unfounded speculation about the cause of the accident ran rampant. However, cancellations didn't occur. No airline wanted to go to the back of the years-long purchasing line of this airworthy and money-making model.
