They are good for us, the consumer, only in the short term. In the small town I grew up in, Main Street is dead.....JUST outside the city limits, to save on taxes, is a discount store. LOW prices, but few jobs for locals......
When the locals are FULL of electronics, cheap jeans and "decorative" crap, will THIS ONE file for B/K and leave a dead town behind?..................like the last semi-big box store did? Got a dollar to bet? Wal-Mart does not rape and leave, they stay and keep sucking the local teet....... and let local Gov't. pay forhealth care for the workers they have given NO employment options to because they killed local business. I LOVE my big gallon jug of olive oil... cheap... from Costco........and I DO shop there, but at what cost?.......
When we shop ONLY based upon price......(the immediate price) we cost ourselves so much in the long run. SURELY we must see that we are fed the homogenous corporate pablum that is cost efficient....
You want roses? we have red.....You like yellow?...we have red..........down the street? they have red also.
OK, now we know I had some burbon tonight after dinner....... but still......drive thru one of those "once charming" towns and you can see death..on Main Street.
Live in a city??????? there's an "In-And-Out" (yummy) just down the hall, at my mall, from my local Nordstrom........
You do NOT have to be gay to know that THAT is JUST WRONG!!!
As Miss Fran Fine would have said, "Its a world gone madd".
Oh crap, I should have a close for my rant........uh, say no to crack..........or as Nancy Regan SHOULD have said, "Just Say No THANK You to Drugs"
homogenous

Don't bait the bear........
