I hate Costco, Wal-Mart, and all the giant discount stores. Good for the consumer, bad for small businesses and small town America. I understand how much money people save, but it's at the cost of guys like me getting screwed over because we can't compete against these giants.
Most of their products are on consignment and if they don't sell the product the manufacturer comes in and removes it.
In my business for example, they are buying flowers at cut rate prices with no loss to deal with because the grower takes back what they don't sell. So they can afford to make less money and sell at retail prices that are cheaper than what I can buy wholesale.
Years ago, Mom & Pop flower shops could send their kids to college on the cash business that they use to do on cut flowers. Today that market is totally gone and the only thing left is labor intensive work that costs big bucks with a smaller profit margin. Didn't mean to get on my soap box, but i get crazy when I see or hear about Costco! LOL
