While you have a valid point, the best solution would be for both leagues to play with the same rules. I prefer the DH, there is more excitement seeing David Ortiz come to the plate than to see Denny Neagle come into a game to relieve and wonder where he will be batting in the lineup thanks to a double switch.
At least in my opinion.
As to other posters, I have already repeatedly stated that Ortiz does not play first base bescause of defense, but to preserve his body. He never played more than 125 games with Minnesota because his knees gave out playing.
Youk has over a .400 OBP and is young and can cover a lot of ground, it makes sense to have Ortiz on the bench to DH and Youk to be on the field.
Ortiz does quite well when placed in the field, and two of the errors last year came when the webbing in his glove broke. That is strange but it is true, I saw the games.
