"The scumbags have already front loaded."
Oh yeah, you just gotta ignore the pumps and focus on their overall market impressions. I do the same for Zack's (and a few other lesser known stock news blasts as well). What I look for is consistency in their consensus/projections of topics such as undervalued sectors, 1-3-6-9 month future market condition/directions, and etc.,
"I paid 1800 euros to order it special for you "
Worth every euro!
My only complaint was that I did not pack any shorts based on internet 10-day weather predictions. ( I did have ONE pair of cargo pants that I was able to unzip at both knees to remove the pant legs from effectively turning them into shorts) I really should've packed more shorts...
Did I ever drink wine... I'm not a connoisseur by any stretch but do enjoy a nice Pinot Grigio with most of my meal choices here in the states. however, I got really turned on to a Burgundy Rosé that floored me. Don't believe (or remember) having had any "bad" wine while we were in France that I did not like. But that Rosé was something else...
Funny, everyday I watched French TV news (in English) in the a.m. and again just before bed- anyway, the day we left Lyon for Paris (via charted bus as the rails were shut down due to the strikes grrrr) they claimed that there were no "open" petro stations along the route. However, I spotted at least two along the highway that were actively selling gas and the lines were only 2-3 deep at most- much unlike the city tours where the lines wrapped clear around the block. Saw one stretch of road where vehicles were just abandoned...
By the time we left Thursday a.m. I believe that most of the unions had settled?
Had a great time in France- the wait staff at every town/city (from Marseilles to Avignon to Viviers to Lyon to Paris) were very accommodating and we did not always go the traditional tourist routes while in the cities.
Very enjoyable time.

I know it'll be a "Buy a time-share" type of sales pitch for their products but I highlighted what interests me in RED. If you're interested- here's the link
I know right? Where has the time gone?
Our river boat is moored in Saint-Jean-de-Losone on La Saone. We bus to Paris tomorrow because we WERE supposed to take the high-speed train but now gas is getting scarce due to striking oil workers and everyone in France is going on strike tomorrow it seems or so the local media would lead us to believe... Oh well, cie la vie.
Have had a wonderful time, met many great people, much MUCH wine, food, cheese, wine, truffles, macaroons, wine,.. well you get the idea. Weather has been unbelievable.
Depresses me to read this. Like Steve, had many a convo with him at various times although I think the majority were on SI. Making me feel old as I see and hear about more and more of us old-timers passing away...
Just bought @ 8.75. I'm sitting in Minneapolis (airport) waiting for our flight to Paris and I hate trading on my phone lol. But, I couldn't pass this opportunity up. Still nibbling in 10- 25 share increments. After close today, I won't have the trading opportunity again until the 21st.
Wow! Well, OK then lol, I guess I will- got some at $8.75
Walked away after filling @ 9.70 then came back later and wailed on the 9.50s several times although admittedly, I could not get filled right @ 9.50..............bastages
Day's young ... currently bidding for 9.75
lol...$9.78 was my best today (so far) {$ATOM}
dipped for $9.88
Oh you didn't know? It's Happy Hallothanksmas season
"Only the victors of any conflict will decide what "facts" are true."
Lots 'o wisdom right there
After more thought (and Googling), not to mention the bullshit the U.S. gov't has pulled on its own people the past couple of years, I've come to the conclusion that it would NOT be out of the realm of possibility that the U.S. might've been involved. Snippet from an ABC News article yesterday:
"President Joe Biden promised on February 7 to prevent Nord Stream 2 from becoming operational if Russia invaded Ukraine. "If Russia invades,” said Biden, “then there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it."
Reporter: "But how will you do that, exactly, since...the project is in Germany's control?"
Biden: "I promise you, we will be able to do that."
Demented Joe saying more than he should or simply arrogant political hyperbole? Makes you go hmmmmmmmmmm...
"Every form of energy should be explored"
Precisely. Let the markets experiment and ultimately decide what's viable and not. The whole world was/is in an electric vehicle building mode and things were progressing fine. Hell, my own hobby (private pilot flying) has had battery powered electric aircraft being tested for years. But let some asshole(s) gain power and try to control the entire transformation based on their own timeline instead of the market, and it does nothing but clog up the system at the expense of everyone else.
"Why'd the US sabotage the Russian pipeline of natural gas?"
I had no idea that anyone had mentioned the U.S. as a possible saboteur of the pipeline??
"was a little late $9.94"
It's hard- I've missed most of the intra-day lows (although I have BEEN the low a couple of times lol, still trying to figure that out). Anyway, that's why I've been preaching "nibbling"- and only just a few trades a day- in case they drive it down further the next day. I buy in 10 and 25 share lots only. Once in a great while I'll try to stink-bid for a 100-share lot and,as luck would have it, I have been hit twice.
As long as this market continues to reel from drunken gov't spending and the computer traders reign, there will be opportunities.
...some more @ $9.80
...and $9.80 (Long term it's a gift- I'm tellin ya)
From Breitbart News:
It is especially disturbing that we are witnessing these events even while Europe is plunging into a deep recession largely because it did not invest enough in fossil fuel infrastructure, allowing itself to become dependent on Russian natural gas. We're only a couple of months away from the ESG-caused spike to a record high in gasoline prices here in the U.S. The last thing the global economy or the U.S. economy needs now is less investment in oil and natural gas. Yet that's what each of these events is trying to bring about. If anything, the real transition risk has turned out to be the fact that the U.S. and European economies tried too early to transition away from fossil fuel investment.
What conservatives have been saying for years- let markets handle the transition- not the farkin liberal bullshitters.
"...Google already has it."
I would agree... and wiling to bet Apple does as well regardless of their denials.
...and 10.34
just putting in very small cap orders (10-25 share blocks).
Nibbling ($ATOM) again ...filled @ 10.55 and @ 10.45
Sure and even business knows how (or at least takes advantage of):
“You can go from a Whole Foods to a Walmart, from a Walmart to a Dollar General,” Feler said. “Once you’re a low income consumer, you are already at the cheapest place that you can possibly buy food. And that just means that these stores have more pricing power.”
Interesting Breitbart News piece (You can see why manipulation is so easy to cook) :
"One of the things that went largely unnoticed about yesterday's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is how little consensus there is about the median term future."
...
It's no wonder Fed Chair Jerome Powell continuously emphasized just how uncertain the future is. As he put it on Wednesday, "These projections do not represent a Committee decision or plan, and no one knows with any certainty where the economy will be a year or more from now."
I found that book in PDF format : The Physics of Wall Street
"It probably means we're close to a market bottom"
I gotta agree- ever since the June lows there's been chatter that those lows will (should) be tested again because we never got capitulation.
None (into my actual account). I haven't tried ThinkorSwim tho....
$ATOM Really nibbling here at $10.86 (and filled)
Gonna wait for EOD and see what they do- (quad-witching today) so might get some more even lower.
Sometimes I have to pinch my nose but you're right
Tx!
Bought some more just a few minutes ago @ $11.10
This is identical to what I did earlier this year/summer. Keep nibbling everyday the program traders are in control and volume is light- don't get greedy and think you found the low...just nibble daily.
"Can I please have another?"
#msg-169577618 That's EXACTLY what I did back in the first of August
When ATOM (or any stock) gets throttled on market sympathy/algos especially when there is no conviction (i.e., very low volume), I buy for nothing else than to flip later when the chuckle-head computers go the other direction. So far I've brought my cost average down on ATOM by almost 6 bucks. Given the volume of shares I own, that's no mean feat
Buying (bought) $ATOM here @ $11.23
I love this response to Burry's tweet:

They’ll create the regulations after the crash, just like the Volcker rule.
This bad boy made an unscheduled stop just outside our backyard this weekend... Just to the left is where our lake is and also a stand of trees along the entire shore- of which he clipped the tallest tree coming down.
Tall tree on the left in the background is what he clipped
That clump of trees on the right is where that taller tree is and the balloon is off to the right (can't be seen in this pic as it's just a shot of my wife in her kayak)
" I was diagnosed with CHF and my focus was on recovery,..."
I feel for you. Working with CHF patients was my bread & butter for most of my career. Lots of causes but the symptoms always the same- miserable short of breath. Non-stop peeing once the diuretics kicked in...
"It's all crap, why not just use good old US$ to buy shit? "
My sentiments exactly! I've never bought OR understood crypto. I've been waiting for somebody like Steve or Jobynimble to 'splain it to the point that even I would dabble in it... not yet
