KiSS Nordic A/S (www.kissnordic.dk), a leading supplier of multimedia products
for personal computers in Europe, today announced it will incorporate USB Smart
Card Readers by Wave Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: WAVX) into its fall line of
products.
KiSS Nordic had previously announced that it will deploy EMBASSY enabled USB
devices. Today's announcement reflects KiSS Nordic's choice of EMBASSY deployed
in a USB smart card reader, with a bundling program. Wave's secure e-commerce
smart card reader will be bundled with KiSS Nordic's Multimedia PC products.
KiSS Nordic will also promote the WaveDirect service to its growing customer
base, offering a convenient, flexible way to buy digital content such as
software and music at the desktop. KiSS Nordic made the announcement at the
MediaCast 2000 tradeshow in London, where Wave Systems and Kiss Nordic are
demonstrating this secure e-commerce technology and service, from May 15th
through 17th.
Wave Systems is a provider of electronic commerce, content distribution and
security services. Under the agreement Wave Systems' USB smart card reader,
powered by EMBASSY secure e-commerce technology, will be bundled with KiSS
Nordic's wide array of PC products.
The device in combination with the WaveDirect service allows consumers to
acquire and try content before deciding to make a purchase. Consumers also gain
a variety of options for purchasing digital content right at their desktop,
including free preview, pay-per-play, rent-to-own, and outright purchase.
"We intend to bundle Wave's USB smart card reader and promote the WaveDirect
service with all of our multimedia products. We understand what the
revolutionary combination of EMBASSY's secure e-commerce capabilities and the
WaveDirect service can mean to our customers and to KiSS Nordic. Our customers
gain security at the desktop and an innovative way to access and purchase
content and KiSS Nordic gains a recurring revenue stream that extends beyond the
sale of our product," said Peter W. Christensen, Managing Director of KiSS
Nordic A/S.
"Through our agreement with KiSS Nordic we continue to expand our relationships
in Europe. We look forward to working with a strong partner who shares our
vision of a growing network of EMBASSY enabled devices as a platform for the
secure distribution and sale of digital products," said Steven Sprague,
President and CEO of Wave Systems. "Bundling our device with KiSS Nordic's
multimedia product line is important in our plans to speed deployment of our

EMBASSY Enabled Devices to Deploy This Year - Hitachi Europe and Wave Systems
Announce Alliance to Develop Secure Smart Commerce Solutions
LONDON and SAN JOSE, Calif., May 2, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
GlobalWave Limited Appoints Hitachi Europe to Manage
a Smart Centre for eCommerce Services Across Europe
Hitachi Europe Limited, Wave Systems Corp. (NASDAQ: WAVX) and GlobalWave PLC
today announced a multi-million dollar deal which will see the three companies
work together to further develop and manage e-commerce solutions.
Under the agreement, Hitachi Europe will establish the back office systems and
develop a range of consumer devices incorporating Wave System's EMBASSY(TM)
technology and metering chipset. The first 250,000 devices will be available in
Europe later this year.
Ian Tait, Executive General Manager, Information Systems Group, Hitachi Europe
Limited, says "With e -commerce continuing to experience exponential growth
across the globe, we see the market for EMBASSY(TM) enabled devices as
substantial. Within 3 years this will be a $1 Billion business and Hitachi
Europe intends to lead the deployment in Europe. EMBASSY(TM) enabled devices
will ship this year, and the EMBASSY(TM) powered Cyber-COMM compliant reader
will be available early next year."
The agreement with Hitachi Europe builds on Wave's momentum in Europe as
Cyber-COMM, a consortium including nine French banks, has recently certified
EMBASSY(TM) as the preferred method of implementation of its specifications for
secure internet transactions. The first generation of Hitachi devices
incorporating content metering will use the EMBASSY(TM) 1.0 chipset, which
delivers secure content over virtually any medium including CD and DVDs, CATV,
satellite, or multicast, as well as interactive data networks such as the
Internet.
Wave Systems, a provider of electronic commerce, content distribution and
security services will provide pay-per-use content metering to a number of
Hitachi Europe's Smart Commerce solutions. Content metering technology allows
for the secure distribution of new media content including pay-per-view movies,
pay-per-listen music and pay-per-play as well as business orientated
applications such as pay-per-page and pay-per-view document services.
Wave together with their European partner GlobalWave, have chosen Hitachi Europe
to develop an international version of the Wave transaction server (WaveNet).
GlobalWave has also selected Hitachi Europe to operate the WaveNet transaction
server as a Smart Centre. This server will handle multiple currencies and
languages and configure content metering services in different countries and
geographic regions. The WaveNet server will ensure a secure and reliable method
of payment for pay-on-demand services as well as access to call centre
operators.
Ian Tait added, "To be selected by Wave Systems and GlobalWave to be their
e-commerce supplier is a further acknowledgement of the success we are seeing
from our Smart Commerce strategy. We are particularly interested in
pay-per-session educational services such as video on demand, distance learning
initiatives, and providing Internet access to schools."
Steve Sprague, President and CEO of Wave Systems, said, "Hitachi's success and
leadership in Smart Commerce was an overriding factor in our selection of
Hitachi to develop the international version of our server. Hitachi Europe
shares our vision of a quickly growing network of EMBASSY(TM) enabled devices
and building an international server that enables content metering services
across different countries and regions. This alliance is an important step
towards deployment and first mover status in secure content metering across
Europe."
GlobalWave, a joint venture between Wave Systems Corp. and Red Wave Holdings,
has exclusive rights to WaveNet in Europe and has selected Hitachi to operate a
Smart Centre to manage the WaveNet European transaction service. Hitachi
Europe's Smart Centres provide the back office of an organization's e-commerce
activities.
Laurence Blackall, Chairman, of GlobalWave, stated, "We have chosen to work with
Hitachi Europe as they have substantial experience in running back office
systems. This experience, together with their deep understanding of smart card
technologies makes them ideal partners to help establish Wave technology as the
de facto standard for Internet pay-per-access services. This is more than an
agreement, this is an alliance that will lead the way in Europe."

About Tommy Davidson
Perhaps best known as one of the original cast members of the hit television
show In Living Color, where he came to national prominence with his -on
impressions of Sammy Davis, Jr. and Michael Jackson, among others, Davidson soon
parlayed his success on television into a flourishing motion career. He
follows Booty Call with a starring role opposite Jada Pinkett in the forthcoming
romantic comedy, Woo, which opens this fall.
Raised in Washington DC, Davidson's appearances in local talent showcases
quickly led to his opening for such major music stars as Patti LaBelle, Kenny G
and Luther Vandross. After relocating to Los Angeles, Davidson performed at
local comedy venues, including the Comedy Act Theatre, where he met
writer/directors Robert Townsend and Keenan Ivory Wayans. These allegiances led
to the actor/comedian's first national television appearance, a starring role in
Townsend's Partners in Crime, and the opportunity to audition for In Living
Color.
Davidson subsequently starred in three Showtime specials, an impressive film
debut opposite Halle Berry in Strictly Business, a reunion with fellow In Living
Color alum Jim Carrey in Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, and stand-up
performances around the world.
He is a favorite guest-host of Later on NBC, and has a series in development

Trippi used to say...
Jan better than Dec, Feb better than Jan, Mar better than Feb, Apr better than Mar, etc…
Wave Systems the business is much much stronger in April 2000 than at any time in the past.
Consider the following achievements of the past few weeks:
1) We bagged AMD.
2) We completed the PP at dreamlike conditions.
3) WaveXpress has a CEO.
4) The WaveXpress technology has been demonstrated to many credible potential partners and has passed eminently.
5) We were the darling of NAB.
6) We own CyberComm.
7) There is a new sense of urgency for security in e-commerce. The hackers have been very active on our behalf. The e-commerce world is being delivered to us.
8) TCPA is around the corner and the only question is the degree of our prominence there.
The only question left to be answered, and I believe it will soon be, is whether E2 has absolutely passed all the tests. We can conclude that it probably has, but until we know we don’t know.
The Wave train is coming. Not much can stop it anymore.
I invested in Wave hoping that all of the above will happen. Now that all of the above has happened, would I consider selling it for a cheap short-term trade? No thanks. I am now holding more firmly than ever. I am looking to buy more as a matter of fact.
If Trippi were here he would tell you the same thing. He is actually telling us that in his own way. Many of us can’t hear him though, because we are too distracted by margins, by timing decisions, by trading considerations. All of these what ifs!!! They weigh on a person.
The simple way is the best way. Ubiquity here we come. Wave inside here we come. 20 and 30 point up days here we come. HUGE market cap here we come.
When Wave finally comes through and realizes much of its potential in 5 years, its old-time buy and hold investors whose basis will be pennies will be considered lucky by many. I will call us lucky, but also disciplined and true to our own vision and conviction. Easier said than done. And there will be lots of couda wouda shouda’s. To have had it in your hands and to have let it slip away when success is so much closer to a sure thing than it has ever been: Ouch, what a tragedy.
Do the original buy and hold investors in CSCO, in MSFT, in AOL, in DELL, in QCOM care much about the NAZ down periods they went through, about the many NAZ plunges they encountered, about the reported NAZ corrections, bear markets, bottom tests, and all the talking heads? Do they even remember these gyrations? Maybe, but only faintly. All they remember vividly is how they bought very very cheap and held under all circumstances, prevailed and came through beyond even their wildest dreams.
My friends, if you don’t have the conviction in the Wave vision, please trade it all you want. Without the conviction, though, this is a dangerous one to trade since it has no revenues and the bottom could fall out from under you in the middle of a trade.
But if you believe in the vision, if you believe in Wave Systems the business, if you believe that May will be better than April, and so forth, it would be a big mistake to trade it, in my opinion.
Trippi, what do you think?
Matt-is the categorizing mostly what you are going to be focusing on this extended weekend? Don't forget what I said that would happen if the site isn't up my April 30. So you guys better hurry. Just kidding. I still can't believe Carpenter said today. I got cracked on by a teacher. I'm feelin pretty stinkin low.
beigledog
Any idea when it will be available to edit the iBOX? It's not really a big deal but I would just like to know? And, what is the next thing you are working on? If you talk to Matt tell pimp daddy said hi

How do you edit the iBOX?
I forgot to put something in the UVEW iBOX.
Someone once said that if you own WAVX, you have nothing to worry about. If you're trading WAVX--well that could be a whole different situation. That is what I am trying to say this is not just a short-term play here. This is a chance to get into what will someday (IMHO) be a freakin huge company someday. When they start to have earnings then WAVX will get recognition and grow. Buy like 100 shares of WAVX now and see what will happen in 10 years from now. IMHO, you won't regret it.

I think it will open around 18 1/4 and close @21 7/8
It is still very fast. Man I wish I could have gotten into WAVX at 11 9/16 like we were talking about this morning.
Matt Here's a suggestion,
Whenever you click on a post in RB you can't type in a new board from there. You have to press back and then type in the board. So basically what I'm saying is make sure you have a "go to board" feature when you are in a post. This maybe kind of little but I want this thing to be big and kick RB's butt.
Beigledog

Whatever you say man. We'll see what happens this summer.
