AURORA, Colo. -- A little-known syndrome connected to heavy marijuana use is on the rise in Colorado, according to doctors.
Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, or CHS, was first described a decade ago, but researchers in Colorado said they are seeing double the number of cases since marijuana was legalized.
"The science behind it is not clear. We’re just starting to recognize that it even exists," said Dr. Kennon Heard, an emergency physician at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora. "The most likely cause is people using marijuana frequently and in high doses have changes in the receptors in their body, and those receptors become dysregulated in some way, and it starts causing pain."

Matt,
Have we ever thought about make a posting category?
I'd love to see posts that have the poster check one of the following flags:
This post is a:
>opinion
>News
>DD Alert
>Chart
It may have been thought of already, so I apologize if it's a repeat.
Is this the thread where one would post iHub business plan ideas?
Here are a few:
make the home page a real portfolio tool. seize the day while yahoo is screwing up their web site
paid memberships for members who moderate more than 5 threads -- being a solution to you all spending hours worrying about multiple aliases and deleted posts... and you can spend more time on donuts and tax loss trading
solve the multiple alias issue by making the information you all use to check for multiple aliases publicly available. How? I don't know. I've seen "IP address logged" on some off the shelf message board software... so there is a way, I imagine.
Really annoying when trying to layout a nice board header and the space to the right is blank anyway.
I am on a roll...
If this box I am typing in right now was the size of the box the text will get put into when i submit post it sure would be easier to line up the sentences neatly.
I know its anal but couldnt the TOU Refresher which no one ever reads, especially TOU violators, be put below the box?
There ya go I had to come back and edit this to put a carrage return after my first sentence. But doesnt it look better?
Over and out.
Has the new programmer been hired yet?
anyway it would be nice to have the timestamps as a preference so each user can see everything in thier own time not just people in the eastern time zone
I wouldnt mind being able to change the postion of boards in my favorites, alpha is good as a default, but with a long list of fav. on needs to scroll down a lot, i'd like to be able to move some less popular ones to the bottom, vice versa...thanks
Matt can u help old Taki if u like this one maybe u'ill understand why such Due Dilly is always great the way TAKI use to tell us info OK? So if u smile will u let him out of Jail if i promises to calm down and due good. Due Dilly is what we are all here for and a laugh:

Texas Chili Contest -----------------------------
If you can read this whole story without laughing then there's no hope
for you. I was crying by the end. Note: Please take time to read this
slowly. If you pay attention to the first two judges, the reaction of
the third judge is even better.
For those of you who have lived in Texas, you know how true this is. They actually have a Chili Cook-off
about the time Halloween comes around. It takes up a major portion of a
parking lot at the San Antonio City Park. Judge ..3 was an inexperienced
Chili taster named Frank, who was visiting from Springfield, IL.
Frank: "Recently, I was honored to be selected as a judge at a chili
cook-off. The original person called in sick at the last moment and I
happened to be standing there at the judge's table asking for
directions to the Coors Light truck, when the call came in. I was
assured by the other two judges (Native Texans) that the chili wouldn't
be all that spicy and, besides, they told me I could have free beer
during the tasting, so I accepted".
Here are the scorecard notes from the event:
CHILI .. 1 - MIKE'S MANIAC MONSTER CHILI...
Judge .. 1 -- A little too heavy on the tomato. Amusing kick.
Judge .. 2 -- Nice, smooth tomato flavor. Very mild.
Judge .. 3 (Frank) -- Holy shit, what the hell is this stuff? You could
remove dried paint from your driveway. Took me two beers to put the
flames out. I hope that's the worst one. These Texans are crazy.
CHILI .. 2 - AUSTIN'S AFTERBURNER CHILI...
Judge .. 1 -- Smoky, with a hint of pork. Slight jalapeno tang.
Judge .. 2 -- Exciting BBQ flavor, needs more peppers to be taken
seriously.
Judge .. 3 -- Keep this out of the reach of children. I'm not sure what
I'm supposed to taste besides pain. I had to wave off two people who
wanted to give me the Heimlich maneuver. ! They had to rush in more beer
when they saw the look on my face.
CHILI .. 3 - FRED'S FAMOUS BURN DOWN THE BARN CHILI...
Judge .. 1 -- Excellent firehouse chili. Great kick.
Judge .. 2 -- A bit salty, good use of peppers.
Judge .. 3 -- Call the EPA. I've located a uranium spill. My nose feels
like I have been snorting Drano. Everyone knows the routine by now. Get
me more beer before I ignite. Barmaid pounded me on the back, now my
backbone is in the front part of my chest. I'm getting shit-faced from
all of the beer.
CHILI .. 4 - BUBBA'S BLACK MAGIC...
Judge .. 1 -- Black bean chili with almost no spice. Disappointing.
Judge .. 2 -- Hint of lime in the black beans. Good side dish for fish or
other mild foods, not much of a chili.
Judge .. 3 -- I felt something scraping across my tongue, but was unable
to taste it. Is it possible to burn out taste buds? Sally, the beermaid,
was standing behind me with fresh refills. That 300-LB woman is starting
to look HOT...just like this nuclear waste I'm eating! Is chili an
aphrodisiac?
CHILI .. 5 LISA'S LEGAL LIP REMOVER...
Judge .. 1 -- Meaty, strong chili. Cayenne peppers freshly ground, adding
considerable kick. Very impressive.
Judge .. 2 -- Chili using shredded beef, could use more tomato. Must
admit the cayenne peppers make a strong statement.
Judge .. 3 -- My ears are ringing, sweat is pouring off my forehead and I
can no longer focus my eyes. I farted and four people behind me needed
paramedics. The contestant seemed offended when I told her that her
chili had given me brain damage. Sally saved my tongue from bleeding by
pouring beer directly on it from the pitcher. I wonder if I'm burning my
lips off. It really pisses me off that the other judges asked me to stop
screaming. Screw those rednecks.
CHILI .. 6 - VERA'S VERY VEGETARIAN VARIETY...
Judge .. 1 -- Thin yet bold veg! etarian variety chili. Good balance of
spices and peppers.
Judge .. 2 -- The best yet. Aggressive use of peppers, onions, and
garlic. Superb.
Judge .. 3 -- My intestines are now a straight pipe filled with gaseous,
sulfuric flames. I shit on myself when I farted and I'm worried it will
eat through the chair. No one seems inclined to stand behind me except
that Sally. Can't feel my lips anymore. I need to wipe my ass with a
snow cone.
CHILI .. 7 - SUSAN'S SCREAMING SENSATION CHILI...
Judge .. 1 -- A mediocre chili with too much reliance on canned peppers.
Judge .. 2 -- Ho hum, tastes as if the chef literally threw in a can of
chili peppers at the last moment. **I should take note that I am worried
about Judge .. 3. He appears to be in a bit of distress as he is cursing
uncontrollably.
Judge .. 3 -- You could put a grenade in my mouth, pull the pin, and I
wouldn't feel a thing. I've lost sight in one eye, and the world sounds
like it is made of rushing water. My shirt is covered with chili, which
slid unnoticed out of my mouth. My pants are full of lava to match my
shirt. At least during the autopsy, they'll know what killed me. I've
decided to stop breathing it's too painful. Screw it; I'm not getting
any oxygen anyway. If I need air, I'll just suck it in through the
4-inch hole in my stomach.
CHILI .. 8 - BIG TOM'S TOENAIL CURLING CHILI...
Judge .. 1 -- The perfect ending, this is a nice blend chili. Not too
bold but spicy enough to declare its existence.
Judge .. 2 -- This final entry is a good, balanced chili. Neither mild
nor hot. Sorry to see that most of it was lost when Judge ..3 farted,
passed out, fell over and pulled the chili pot down on top of himself.
Not sure if he's going to make it. poor feller, wonder how he'd have
reacted to really hot chili?
Judge .. 3 - No Report
Wish you can put sentiment when posting
I wish I was taller...
I would like to recive a PM explaining what the reason was for one of my posts being deleted. Even if it's just a generic automatic one that everyone would get for each different reason.
Greg...I Concur! EOM
Feature request: On the board management screen, it would be nice to return to the message that was removed rather than returning to the board list and having "next" and "previous" buttons on that screen. This would speed up the management process when several posts in a row need to be removed (often happens).
When you create a new board, there's a pull-down menu to select the category for the stock to go in, and the field is already filled in with the top selection of the menu,
"Listed or Nasdaq - Banking and Finance"
And a lot of people fail to realize they're supposed to change it, so the B&F category becomes a garbage dump. It would be cool if the field instead said,
"[Please select one]"
...and maybe people will realize they're supposed to operate the pull-down menu. That'll help keep the B&F section from gettin' so big.
Edit: or, "[Please select one, dumbass]"
I just hope he moves them. I don't think it looks good to show something on the "Boards" tab like this:
Listed & Nasdaq
Automotive and Transportation (10)
>>>> Banking and Finance (116) <<<<
Basic Materials (7)
Biotechs (48)
Brokerages/Investment Banks (3)
Chemicals (3)
etc.
Because it makes the site look funny to a potential newbie. Or, when posting on Viva Airlines or Corning, Inc. and you see the stock listed in "Banking and Finance" you know something's wrong. ;)
Not to mention all the worthless penny stocks that are stuck in the Listed & Nasdaq category...
Think he'll move them?
Edit: Ultimately the "create a new board" form will need to be modified to prompt people better to put their boards in the right spot.
Edit #2: I'm not at all suggesting the entire list of boards needs to be worked on. Just that obvious glut in "Banking & Finance." (And, modify the "create a new board" form so it doesn't get clogged up again.)
Wow -- that was one heck of a project. You ought to hold out for a tee-shirt!
Mattu,
I hope you find this information useful...
As you know, a lot of people who make new boards leave them in the "Banking and Finance" section by default.
While watching the game, I thought what the heck, and copy/pasted the list into a text file, and used MSN and Yahoo Finance to figure out where the boards SHOULD go.
(I paid no attention the non-stock boards in the B&F section because I didn't want to upset anyone's crib.)
Most of this was done by simply bringing up the MSN quote, checking the exchange, and reading the last press release for company description. Sometimes I also looked at the iHub board or company website.
Some of these could be quibbled with, but I was pretty careful to put them in the right slot and they're definitely better off in these slots than in B&F anyway.
If you ever get time on your hands on a rainy day to shuffle these around, it'll blow that logjam out of the B&F area and make the rest of the groups look bigger.

I agree and I and others have mentioned it before. Bob has explained that messing with the preview screen is a real can of worms, i.e., more trouble than it is worth. If you search this thread and-or Q&A for submit/arc will will find my suggestion and Bobs full response.
Edit: try these posts.

Matt, another feature I would find helpful is if the "in reply to" information was present on the post in the manage mode.
When I delete a post I usually delete the responses too as they are meaningless without the original.
Matt, when composing a reply to a PM it would be helpful to have buttons for Submit/Arc and Submit/Keep on the preview screen. These buttons are now on the initial compose screen but not on the preview/spellcheck screen.
As a moderator I wish that I could tell who deleted a post. Now that I have assistants it would be helpful for me for training to know that a post was deleted by one of them rather than you.
I heard that! eom
RB? Wassat?
Edit: Oh, the iHub wannabe site.
Sorry if this has been posted, and perhaps I should read through to see if it has (but I didn't)...
ONLY annoyance with iHub is the fact that when I am reading the messages I have to go back to the message list to post a new message. A link from the message to post a new one (opposed to a reply) would be nice.
Thanks!
Oh, codemonkey. I know you'll be back to do some iHub programming soon. So, one more idea to throw out there.
RB has a great concept with marking the OT posts as OT. But it doesn't do much else.
What would be great (and something to add to the premium feature set) would be to allow for filtering of posts marked as OT. Then, when you post, just have a radio button to check (default: OnTopic) to make your post offtopic.
Really, there shouldn't be too much offtopic, but it does happen. Even under Matt's censorship. :)
Comments on those suggestions:
1. Board-Level Lockouts -- excellent idea. If it's not possible from a technical standpoint, you could even enforce it from a verbal standpoint. For example, "Okay, PainInTheButt47, you are hereby banned from the EDIG board for two weeks. If anyone reports a post by you on that board in that time, you'll be tossed in the slammer for two weeks." You can even declare the lockouts on the board in question, for maximum embarrassment and also to ensure the person's enemies will tattle if he tries to post.
2. Profile Page Photo -- if possible, make it a "paid" feature (just one more enticement for people to pony up the $$).
3. PM Capability for Moderators -- sounds like a cheapskate trying to get a free ride! Screw him!
4. Comment Field during Post Removal -- also, it could be good to force the moderator to enter his/her name during post removal in case you need to follow-up.
Request/suggestiosn from another member:
Hi Matt. Here are some feature ideas that crossed my mind. You've probably already thought of these, but I thought I'd pass them to you anyway, just in case.
Board-Level Lockouts -- I don't know if this is technically possible, but consider enabling a board-level lockout penalty. In other words, if you have a poster who tends to commit his abuses on one particular board only, but is a valid poster elsewhere, consider locking him out of only the one board instead of sending him to Jail. You could call it a "restraining order" perhaps (keeping with your law enforcement theme). That way, you could take action more quickly on somebody without waiting for their offenses to mount up to the point where you have to dump them in the slammer.
Profile Page Photo -- like on Yahoo, a lot of people like to put a pic on their profile page. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way to put a pic on an iHub profile page is to put it in the "signature," but that makes it appear on every post. A field for a pic on the profile page could be a nice touch.
PM Capability for Moderators -- consider upgrading any unpaid moderators to PM capability so they can communicate with unruly members.
Comment Field during Post Removal -- consider a comment box so a moderator can explain in more detail to you why a post is being removed, since the moderator is on top of the context of the thread which may or may not be easily apparent to you.
That's it. Keep up the good work. Well my pitcher just arrived, back to Happy Hour.
Matt...Ahhhh... The Good Life! EOM
No, Gary was THE original code maestro. Circa 1999-2001. He's now retired and living in the Caribbean from selling off his iHub stock.
Matt...Cool! BTW...Whose Gary? Is he our new code man? If so, could you pester him for a [center tool]???
I'll be awaiting the change.
I definitely agree with this. I don't think that logic has been tinkered with since Gary was doing the code-jockeying.
Kirby..You do not get red message. Currently after you have hit the "Submit Post" on the PM you are 'returned' to your favorites page, not where you started.
A solution until then is to right click the reply to and open in a new window. Since the post is below the compose window, you can refer to it while writing your reply. After you receive the red message, just close the window and you will be back at your place.
Matt...I wish for… and would like to suggest that when a person writes a PM in response to a public post, that they should be returned to the message that they were responding to.
As it is, when you are done it returns you to your favorites page, this IMO is a hassle. IMO you should be returned to the post they were replying with a red message stating “Your PM Has Been Sent”.
Just A Wish.
This is correct.
When the iBox is updated, it becomes unhidden until you hide it again.
