I just recently upgraded my 4 year old Dell 3000. Went from 512 to 2GB. I updated the bios first from Dell website. Everything works fine.
You might try updating your bios before installing new memory. The update can be found at Dell site. Hope this helps.
Is the rescue disk that comes with the drive the same thing as a recovery disk? I'm a novice when it comes to computers. I didn't understand what you meant about it not booting without locating NT first.
Thanks for your help.
Before I buy back up drives, I'd like to get your opinion on this unit: http://www.cmsproducts.com/detail.aspx?ID=841
It costs a little more than the drive and enclosure you recommended. I think it doesn't require ghost software. It says you can boot it up externally or remove it from the case and swap it in the event of drive failure.
It looks to be easier and since it's retail, it comes with software, etc. Do you think it would work for me?
That's good. I'm getting ready to order the 160 GB drive and enclosure. I still haven't fully configured the new Dell. Not sure whether to stick with dual core or move up to quad core. I'm going to get at least 6GB memory for sure. It looks like it will cost about $1000 without a monitor either way.
Thank you for your help. I do have one question. Is the external power supply something I will need to purchase if I go with an internal hard drive and an enclosure?
Thanks. I didn't realize I would need to install the external drive in the event of failure. I'm a bit computer challenged, but I think I could install a hard drive if necessary. I just recently installed new memory and it was a lot easier than I expected.
I get it now. If the hard drive fails, I can remove the new cloned hard drive from the enclosure and install it internally.
Thanks Bruce.
Is there anything available that's already in an enclosure? Something I can just plug into a USB port? Thanks again.
Can you recommend an external hard drive that would be compatible with my Dell 3000? I'm looking for something simple to use, install, and understand. I need one with about 160 Gb for the old machine and one with 250 Gb for the new Dell I'll be getting. I assume I would have to purchase the Casper xp disc for both machines also.
Thanks again for all your help Bruce.
I think it was a ribbon cable but I'm not sure. I'll have to open it up later today to check.
I've read about some external hard drives that connect using USB but I don't know if they will work.
Are there any external hard drives on the market that will copy everything on my internal hard drive and automatically backup anything new. Before I give my old Dell to my sister, I'd like to make sure it will keep working if the internal hard drive should fail. It's about 4 years old.
By the way, the memory upgrade to 2GB is working excellent.
They just filed unaudited financials a couple of days ago. It appears that the name change won't be happening. Company claims to have passed Medicare licensing inspection.
I installed the 2GB memory last night. I am amazed at how fast my computer runs now. I can run the Norton 360 scan, CCleaner, and Smart Defrag at the same time with memory to spare. Everything is lightening fast.
The installation was simple using the link you provided. When I popped open the cover, I discovered four years worth of dust bunnies, spider webs, and mummified insects. I blew all the crud out before I installed the memory.
Thanks again for your help Bruce.
You probably need to address your question to the mod here (Bruce A Thompson). I am but a novice, at best, in these matters.
That's quite a deal you got there. I only need 4 GB memory and a 500 GB hard drive. I did several configurations at Dell and nothing in my specified range was below $900 including tax, etc. To get something equivalent to your system, I'd be paying $1500 and up.
I've had my current computer for four years. I use it daily and have had zero problems, so I'm probably going to stay with Dell even though it's more expensive.
Thanks again Bruce. By the way, this is a great board for anyone who is computer challenged. I've learned a lot here.
I'm just going to put in the memory and give it to my sister. I looked at the new Dells. Some have 6GB memory. I thought I had something special four years ago when I got the 512MB. LOL. Time to upgrade.
Thank you Bruce. That makes things a lot easier. Just one question. The speed says 333 on the link you gave me. My system information for the memory reads 400 Mhz. Is that something different?
Thanks tc. I'm going to Dell to download the manual now. I'll probably upgrade to 2GB as I'm planning on getting a new Dell soon. This computer will go to my sister who is using a ancient E-Machine.
Thanks Ruellit. I did a search and found the memory at Dell. Apparently I need two seperate 1GB units.
I have a Dell computer that I purchased in 2005. I haven't had any problems with it at all. I just switched from AOL dial-up to cable and I am amazed at the difference.
I'm thinking of bumping the memory up to two gigabytes ( current memory is 512MB). I'd also like to clean out the dust while I have it open.
I am not real computer savvy, so I don't know how to open the computer up to install the memory and blow out the dust.
The computer is a Dell 3000, Intel(R)Pentium (R),4 CPU, 3.00GHz. The memory is 512MB, 400MHz, 64 bit SDRAM.
I also need to find a place to purchase the best possible memory. TIA.
It sure looks like a typo. When I finally got it downloaded, I didn't notice that the dates were wrong.
Item #3 shows the correct dates. The date at the top of the document appears to be incorrect also.
The quarterly report for Q1 is finally in. I'm having trouble downloading it at Pink Sheets. I'll keep trying.
I think a reverse split is more probable than bankruptcy. I don't give a whole lot of weight to the OTC market tier ratings. Current Information or not, it's still a high risk pinksheet stock.
Quarterly report for RBRM late. Pinksheets status now reads Limited Information.
A filing would bring it back to Current Information status.
I agree with you rileylan. For one thing, there is no significant short interest in RBRM. There were only 58,414 shares short on 15APR09 and zero shares short on 31MAR09.
The stock was advertized on a couple of tout sheet companies the day after the "swine flu" PR. One such company, Penny Performers, is owned by New Media Advisors who was paid $5000 by RBRM. Less than a week later, the FDA gave RBRM two days to remove the swine flu claims.
According to the Nevada SOS, RBRM has been listed as American Med Tech since FEB09. However, Pinksheets and the OTC site still list the company as RBRM. What's up with that?
It will be interesting to see the financials which should be out by the middle of this month. I agree with you in that there needs to be more transparency and an honest explanation of what's really going on.
Hopefully they won't be doing a reverse split. That would be very bad news. I keep an eye on the OTC/Other Daily List. Nothing new there for RBRM.
There was a small article about RBRM in the business section of my local newspaper yesterday. Apparently the company was contacted by the Fraud Unit of the FDA on Monday. They were given 48 hours to remove the ads for swine flu prevention products.
Been watching the Daily List. No name change yet. Neveda SOS has been showing the new name (American Med Tech) for quite some time.
The company needs to PR some information to let everyone know what is going on. Financials for Q4 should be out in a month.
I'm a neophyte at bashing. I'm in the process of honing my skills, LOL.
Have you seen TCLL's status at the Neveda SOS site? Revoked???
I should have waited. LOL. My $125 lottery ticket is now worth about $25 and I think it will be down to $3 soon.
I think audited financials and a move to the BB would be the best answer to making the stock more attractive.
The worst thing would be a R/S. Hopefully that won't happen.
I sold all my shares some time ago. If the company would get serious about an audit and a move to the BB, I would jump back in.
Evidence overwhelmingly points to the fact that Garwood was a traitor.
He had many privileges while in captivity. He broadcast anti-American messages on Radio Hanoi. There were numerous witnesses to his misdeeds. I think he even stayed in Viet Nam until 1979.
He's lucky he didn't face a firing squad.
Just my opinion.
Not much going on here. No news for quite awhile. PR would be nice.
I don't remember that one. I just looked it up. Interesting.
My small GTC buy @.004 finally went through yesterday. I forgot to make it an AON buy. Got charged twice. Expensive lottery ticket.
I've been sitting on the bid at .004 for almost 2 weeks. I'm about to give up.
