The extra hundred is a steep jump.
If I had to pay that I'd probably be adjusting my monthly budget and looking at The Spruce for Meow Mix recipes.

Hi, Excel,
I should not have fallen for the battery deal on the Walmart site.
The ad offered two DeWalt 20V 6A batteries for less than I paid for the genuine DeWalt 5A batteries that I bought on Amazon.
I traced the company to a warehouse in the Midwest that is Chinese owned.
Knockoffs make great paperweights.
Trueheart
Hey, BnB,
I looked at that twine deal from Amazon. I feel wary about the quality of the string. The weave is loose and looks unfinished.
I'll probably step up to another that appears to be well made.
Trueheart
Batteries offer convenience and portability but they cost one hell of a lot of money.
I'm sticking with DeWalt battery-operated tools as my collection is DeWalt, except for a Porter Cable drill. I bought the 14" weed eater and will use it this week with the genuine 5A batteries.
Trueheart
Good morning BnB,
I will buy another one of the birds while they're on sale. The chicken was succulent.
There are four good-sized rosemary plants in my back yard. I will stuff the bird with sprigs and lemon and the poultry seasoning.
I had been thinking about getting the handy-dandy twine for some time but had never gotten around to buying it.
Trueheart
The DeWalt 20V 6A battery twofer offer on the Walmart site proved to be a bust. Instead of the two DeWalt batteries, I received one inferior weird-name battery made in China.
I complained to Walmart, telling them there were hosting a scam. They said they'd remove the offending ad and refund my money.
There is no free lunch.
Trueheart
Good morning K9narc and all,
One would think that chickens grown in such a nice environment would not be hobbled by the need for a truss.
I cooked the chicken without twine, the wings separated from the body. I basted the bird with butter and oil. The wing tips were crisp and I gnawed them to the denser bone. That may be a confession of my behavior as a man eating alone.
Thanks for the info regarding trussing and twine. I will truss the bird and forgo the crispy wings.

I found a great deal today at a local market. The offer was free-range roaster chickens for only a buck a pound.
The cooking instructions included trussing the chicken.
Well, I Googled it and to my dismay I couldn't find a chicken truss.
I roasted it anyway and it came out pretty well.

When I was a kid living in the projects I often wondered what I should do with my excess cash.
Decades later Fidelity is offering a way for children to invest in the market. The average American kid probably would sneer at the relatively low $30,000 cap.
Trueheart
Hey, BnB,
Your father was on to a good thing.
As you know, I was in the Marines. My first experience with green eggs was at breakfast on a Navy ship somewhere in the Pacific. I recall being in the chow line and seeing a big spoon filled with a green substance being emptied on my tray. I asked and was informed that it was scrambled eggs. Yeppers, ketchup!

One must remember that ancient recipes were created and developed under the influence of geography, climate and ingredient availability.
The introduction of refrigeration probably has had the most profound affect on old recipes as it has allowed cooks to either eliminate or modify recipes or to create new ones.
The salting of cod or meat for preservation is long gone.
Therefore, old and venerated Italian recipes were created given ingredient availability and local circumstances. More or less, it's like looking in the historical fridge, inspecting what's on the shelves, getting the brain and stomach going about possible combinations and then making din din.
Stories circulated about President Nixon liking catsup on his food. The red stuff on cottage cheese was supposedly one of his favorites.
Trueheart
Pardon me but I believe you are such a stickler. You have gone too far suggesting no cheese with fish.
Why, I'd bet you'd say the exact thing about slathering catsup on cottage cheese.
Humph indeed!
Trueheart
Ske, thanks for sharing the wisdom.
Unfortunately, the room I sat in had all the tiles missing.
Rombauer's win in The Preakness may not have proved that Baffert's ponies have been juiced but the race results hopefully may start a campaign to put an end to his questionable career as trainer of elite horses.
Trueheart
Hey, Ske,
Yeppers, there have been too many instances of his horses showing dope not to see that as a practice. He got called on that at Santa Anita several times.
His most ludicrous claim is that the horses got doped when they ate hay that was peed on by stable hands.
If that's what the great horses that he's been entrusted with are eating, the owners need to find a trainer who can give them a better diet.

The market is failing like Medina Spirit's drug tests.

Yes, pooch loves you at power on or off but can get annoyed when the food dish fill-up is late. However, once the bowl is licked clean all is forgiven.
I'm well and grateful for being on the green side of the grass.
Hope all is well with you and yours.
Trueheart
I should move to your Denver neighborhood. But, I'd probably gain 20 pounds.
Enjoy your weekend. I know the guys will.
Trueheart
Hey, POSH,
Yeppers, the pooch is lovable and loyal and will lick your face, unlike the cold, efficient Roomba. On the Roomba's side it doesn't have accidents.
Trueheart
Flo, you are hereby on notice that you are spoiling the heck out of the guys!
The recipe looks tasty.
Trueheart
Hey, Flo,
Isn't it amazing how fast a pooch reacts to dropped food? I think they're all like that, waiting and hoping their humans will drop a morsel for them.
Trueheart
BnB, thanks for posting the baked potato recipe. It's so simple that even I can follow it (I think).
I bought the 15 pound Costco Bag O' Spuds and made a big pot of mashed potatoes. I will bake the rest and freeze them for later eating.
Trueheart
Hey, Excel,
Yeah, the Carhartt is a great deal.
I like that kitchen Roomba. I understand this particular model works faster than a man's 5 second rule for food dropped on the kitchen floor.
And it doesn't need batteries.
Trueheart
Yesterday I got an email from the VA regarding discounts for veterans. Carhartt offers 25% off their merchandise. The discount was last verified 4/24.
If you buy Carhartt gear ask for the deal on your next purchase.

Yeppers, batteries ultimately lead the buying parade for buying battery-operated tools. Generally speaking, I think DeWalt, Makita and Milwaukee make great tools. I'm pleased with my Bosch corded routers.
It's great to hear from you posters who use tools daily.
Trueheart
Great score on the Makita batteries, Excel.
I bought the DeWalt 20V 5A batteries yesterday at Amazon for $147. I have to cancel that order for the Walmart 6A half price deal.
I got the runaround yesterday at HD on the DeWalt 5A batteries. They only had single batteries at $135. I told them the store had the batteries on the internet for Amazon's price. He checked it and the price came up $169. I walked out and bought the batteries on Amazon. Then I checked the HD price on the internet and it came up $147. I have no idea what the store clerk was looking at.
I have a few corded Makita tools including the multi tool and a 4-1/2" angle grinder.
Trueheart
Walmart has the DeWalt 20V 6A XR battery duo for sale at only $85. Everyone else has the batteries at $199.
I have the DeWalt impact driver and drill and recently purchased the 14" battery-operated trimmer.
Buy, buy, buy if you have 20V DeWalt tools!

In Ex-Microsoft news, $70 billion-worth Melinda Gates is now available.
I wonder if she will hold a lottery.

Thanks for posting the video of the joinery on that old Japanese house. The craftsmanship is amazingly intricate and beautiful.
I've admired old American post and beam construction but this house beats them all.
The joints were all done using hand tools and I didn't notice one mark left by a saw or other tools.

The boring share price and lack of response from investors reminds me of the saying, "You saved my life once but what have you done for me lately?"
Trueheart
Okay, MG.
My barber said the silver prospecting company had a special status. I think it had to do with a color, pink or something like that.
Trueheart
It's always great to see you, Carp.
I'm glad I eased your day.
Trueheart
You have the wrong man, FWF.
Trueheart
The mine was closed years ago for lack of pay ore and yet there's hope on this board.
Remember the lie that the gold vein was only 60 feet away?
Trueheart
Yeah, I sold my hundred shares of Berkshire Hathaway for $410,000 per share and used the proceeds to buy an up and coming silver prospecting company that my barber recommended.
Trueheart
Hey Sorta,
NY Bob abandoned Frankie moons ago but he's still posting doomsday, fiat currencies and gold, gold, gold.
Incidentally, I investigated the company's gold dredger claims, which I think was their last exaggeration. I called the company in Texas they got the small devices from and discovered they had made a trade for future FMNJ profits.
I'm rooting for Mart!
Trueheart
I don't think so. Apple makes phones and computers and it makes money (I own Apple shares and I applaud their move).
Incidentally, blacks be, like, beating up on Asians. You don't see the general news saying that.
Trueheart
Hey, Slo,
It's great to hear from you and I'm glad that you made good money here.
As I recall, years ago I lost on my investment around the time the share price was around $1.70 or so.
Take care,
Trueheart
Yeah, I sure miss the mama llamas and the emaciated boy miners and the coochi-coochi girls.
I hope the share price continues to go up so that Mart can make some money.
Take care.
Trueheart
Hey Trinity,
Luckily, there will be other candidates who won't have to be addressed Mr./Mrs. Caitlyn.
As I said, only in California.
Incidentally, Apple is building a new campus in North Carolina to the tune of a billion dollars. The company already has a new campus in Austin. I think it's part and parcel of their drive to get the hell out of California. It costs too damn much to live here. To a great extent that's why we have more people living in poverty than any other state! My home in the boondocks is less than 1,300 square feet. It appraises at $410,000, and my sister's home that is close to Los Angeles is valued at $605,000 for 1,400 square feet. It's nuts!
