Greetings all, been about 8 months since I've checked in. Been incredibly busy, but glad to see the same old faces here. Hope everyone has been well despite the, um, share price. Still long and about to add some more.
P.S. - Dr. Mike, thanks again for the Strategic Investing reco, kept my investing accounts on the plus side even with NEOM in the mix!
That's been on Drudge's site since Monday as posted.
Mobile groups study barcode plan

Article pulled off of the Drudge Report. Don't know if posted here already, but read towards the bottom, quote from Chas and says HP using NEOM technology.
Leading mobile communications companies are due to meet in London on Tuesday to consider a plan that would help turn handsets into personal barcode readers – a move that could stimulate the first big mobile-driven advertising market.
By pointing their camera phones at special 2D barcodes printed on advertisements or product packaging, users would be able to find out more information or instantly download coupons or other marketing offers, supporters of the plan say.
Though already common in Japan and South Korea, the use of mobile phones to read 2D barcodes remains rare elsewhere.
Progress has been held back by the lack of common technology that would let any phone read any barcode, and then complete the routing needed to link back to the relevant information on the web, according to backers of the London initiative.
Tuesday’s meeting, prompted by an alliance between the technology and marketing giants Hewlett-Packard and Publicis, has been called to try to promote standards in this area. Companies due to attend include Nokia, Ericsson, Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom, said Tim Kindberg, an HP researcher.
However, other companies involved in the field say signs of strong consumer adoption of the technology in recent months in Japan and South Korea has stimulated a rash of experiments elsewhere in the world that is likely to make the technology widespread, regardless of the standards push.
In one of the widest-ranging initiatives to date, DuPont last week said it would make 2D codes available on the cans, bottles and many other types of packaging that it supplies to consumer product companies around the world.
Thanks to early work by carriers such as DoCoMo in Japan and China Mobile, “there are already some pretty basic standards that everyone can live by”, said Jonathan Bulkeley of Scanbuy, whose technology is being used by DuPont.
However, Mr Kindberg said the more competitive mobile communications markets that exist in other countries make it harder for agreement on technology to emerge in these places. “It’s been on the verge of happening for some time now – the technology is there, but the problem is the fragmentation in the market.”
The HP/Publicis group, known as the Mobile Codes Consortium, hoped to reach basic agreements on technology within a year, he added.
The widespread use of 2D barcodes to make many objects “internet-enabled” would have applications far beyond advertising, said Charles Fritz, chairman of NeoMedia, whose technology is being used by HP and Publicis.
By making it easy to find information on any object, it would create an “internet of things” that would create extensive links between the physical and electronic worlds, he added.
Sorry Jonsie, it bounced back, my fat finger mistake for the day. I sent you the email again, can't get the picture to post, but it appears they are offering the MicroPaint system for $9995 now plus $1000 for training. This seems to be a pretty good sized discount from original pricing if I remember correctly.
Thank Jonsie, on the way.
I just received an email on my phone from Eric with paint, subject line Micropaint Sale but i can't open the attachment. if someone will post their public email I'll forward to them. Not sure if this is an announcement or news regarding the business unit or not.
Edited: Actually, it's "Micropaint System Sale" so it may just be a sale on the supplies, etc.
Thanks for the reply brew. I hope you can understand my asking, i like to look at situations from as many sides as possible.
Ditto, that's why i'm here as well. Didn't mean to imply you were the you I was opinionating on.
Didn't mean to imply that it was, only that it was their opinion, thus another negative to the stock and for a reason to own it.
OT: Like my dad always said when asked about a car problem, "Sounds like a short between the seat and the steering wheel".
I believe Brew stated that as opinion a couple months ago.
"It's hard to believe that we bought money losing companies and expected them to support us and we guaranteed the share price while having no net income."
Doc, I have often wondered what they expected to prop up the PPS over the timline of the guarantee. Makes you wonder if they had a biggie that got out of the bag deal wise that was going to propel the PPS higher. Otherwise, why not just pay them in cash at closing, or be allowed to issue the equivalent in shares in the future to equal the compensation? Really makes you wonder.
If that's what you believe in the short term, what are the ingrediants in your decision making process that make NEOM a hold or buy at this point? If you've stated them, I honestly have not seen them, and am very interested in why. NOT to disprove, attack, or for gotcha points, I genuinely want to understand why you think NEOM is worth owning at this point.
All that I can recall is that you didn't want to sell for a loss, and that you felt that way a long time ago at a much higher pps. If that is still the case, then what would make you sell?
Others share their reasons for owning in various ways, I'd really like to understand why you think it's worth it to hold onto NEOM at this point in time based on all the negatives you see in the stock.
Granted, but when statements get made IMO that we are finally fairly valued at 7 cents, and that all is bleak and there is no revenue or other event that will drive the pps higher expected for at least 6 months to a year, that there is no insider ownership, that the BOD is a joke, that others will work around NEOM's IP and that it really holds no immediate value, that QR codes WILL BE the standard, that ALL the catalysts mentioned, hypothesized, dots connected, are all blantant pumping with no substantiation, all stated while the pps was several multiples higher, why would you hold? How do those two positions reconcile with each other?
IF you thought, believed and stated the above, does it make sense to hold? What possible reason would an investor who honestly thought the above so passionately that they pound and pound on anyone who thinks the opposite, or states positive opinions are just manipulative people trying to sucker in innocent investors in the the stock, have for owning such a worthless POS? I mean really, does it make sense to say for over a year, this stock, managment and anyone who thinks it has a near term future are wrong, all the while holding long and honestly expecting someone to believe you are? Would Tounge hair have more credibility to his negative opinion if he held stock? Would it surprise anyone if he or soxfan owned NEOM shares? Sorry, but if it looks like a duck........
UNLESS you are using it to offset other gains. The $3000 comes into plag against ordinary income.
Time for a number SIX!!!
Ummm, if i'm not mistaken, a judge decides patent and trademark cases, not a jury.
Edited to add: I think it's just patent cases, not trademark.
It WILL cause him problems if NEOM wants to use it or protect it. You can't simply register www.myfedex.com and simply say you're not using it or going to us it for profit and get to keep it.
Brew, basic explanation is that if it causes a "reasonable" amount of confusion, or if a "reasonable" person would be led to be confused, it's a violation of their mark. No different than someone trying to get away with "myfedex.com" or "myups.com". It doesn't matter if its a household name, you still can't "profit" from the use of someone else's mark or utilize it in almost any way without their permission. myqode.com, registered the day after qode is announced will cause him problems imo. Qode is not a common word, is protected under the law, and simply cannot be used.
For someone who claims to know everything about internet advertising.......Did you happen to notice the ADVERTISEMENTS on his site? THink he can't just link myqode to his web site?

I think you should clarify your comment so he can answer properly. You made the statement, but it's confusing. "Off the consumer clicking", does you mean the consumer doesn't pay but the newspaper pays? Or do you mean it's a completely free event?
So brew, it is your opinion that NEOM will not get revenue from people using qode? That implies that there are no revenue streams for any activity does it not? So.....
Given your tendancy to nit pick everyone (thing) to death, can you clarify something? When you say "they don't make revenue off consumers clicking on the code" do you mean they make NO revenue from the event, or simply that they make no revenue from the consumer doing the clicking, instead the revenue comes from the newspaper?
What you ask to imagine is not in neom's product offering. What would you have them do for revenues today?
Besides American Idol and Trading Spaces, which ones didn't start here first?
ABOUT US
The News of the World is Britain's biggest and brightest newspaper - reaching nine million readers every week.
And we’re not just a hit with our readers – expert pundits have named us the best paper in Britain.
We've got a trophy cabinet groaning with gongs, and have been named Sunday Newspaper of the Year by the London Press Club – for the third year in a row. Earlier this year we scooped the prestigious Cudlipp Award for our What About The Victims? campaign.
Speculation is that he brought NEOM and MOBOT together and was allegedly promised or expected $300k for doing so and NEOM didn't pay him.
Exactly, so I wonder what Newscorp thinks about a "connection" company that can't get their "connection" done properly. Really really sad.
While they would have approved the pr prior to release, I think they would assume that NEOM would have their own url correct.
And don't forget that it's published 52 times a year, not just 12 as most magazines are. Just can't believe that a Newscorp endorsement (billion $ multinational company), into one of the top TWO english speaking newspapers in the world, with the readership EQUAL to the circulation of the TOP 5 of largest newpapers in the US, is labeled as "limited". That's absolulely incredible, even for some.
Let's not confuse anyone with the facts, lol.
OT: Beating the dead horse.
No, why don't we just say what was said. Not imply that a specific date was given in a specific post. If nothing happens "around the weekend of Dec 9th", then you can gleefully add it to your list quicker then you think.
I'm specifically replying to a post linked in reply to my comment that JP supposedly said on the 9th. Around means around, nothing more nothing less. Not just in front of, not just behind, and not on. Around, as in a circle, meaning surronding. It didn't mean the other posts, it didn't mean anything other than what it was replying to, AROUND the weekend of the 9th. So yes, it does leave room, unless one thinks that around means 5 minutes before Midnight on Friday, and 12:05AM on Monday.
I don't think that was the Wii deal, I think he was talking in generalties, I don't want to put words in his mouth. I think it was others discussing Wii specifically. I know I even linked an article about Nintendo re-doing their campaign, don't remember JP on that thread, just that there was news coming "around" the 9th like he said. In my book, "around" the weekend means give or take a few days on either side. The Wii was tied to a specific date.
PeeVeeCee,
Nice to see your enthusiasm. A sale of MP in that range would be nice and surely get NEOM farther down the road. One fact for sure, managment said they would reduce burn and dilution, and they're doing just that. At the least, the next 6 months should be very exciting.
Brew, they are private, why would they register with the SEC? Or am i missing something here.
I think there was a pending or filed suit with a former shareholder.
Brew, i'm not sure on this but if the license agreement involved their patents or applied patents, they can't license them in areas where Mobot may have existing license agreements or where patents may not apply. It sounds like there are existing deals in place with the "restricted" areas that they had to work around, but w/o seeing the license, well, no one knows. Interesting point though.
They'll satisfy them one way or the other if they want to keep them.
