Indirectly related to Niocorp as relating to EXIM issuing Letters of Interest to REE projects:

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong (which is quite possible) but when EXIM first came into the picture I think it was stated that they have a formula (number of jobs created, etc. I don't remember the details) and EXIM determined that $800M (roughly) was the max they could lend to NB. Could inflation figure into that number? I would think so. Does anybody else remember this? I don't have time to look it up right now.

Yep. Same thing different day. I was curious so I took a look, and I currently have 15 users of this board on ignore. That's not necessarily 15 people because some have more than one username. Since I saw and am replying to your post, you can tell that you aren't one of them.

If you win a basketball game with a score of 90 to 89, does it matter if the 90 points was a result of 30 3-pointers, 45 regular shots made, or 90 free throws?

This pure speculation on my part. I really have no idea who the steelmaker is but there is a steel mill in Calvert Alabama built by ThyssenKrupp and purchased in 2014 by AM/NS. AM/NS Calvert is a 50/50 joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel Corp. (NSC). In August 2020 they announced they would be making their own slabs instead of importing from Brazil (See post 64287). Groundbreaking for the expansion was in February 2021 and was expected to take 24 months. Not sure if it has been completed, or the current status.

Interesting.
I just rolled through that intersection (Well, not rolled through. I stopped at the stop sign.) with my elderly father a few days ago and commented that there used to be a gas station on that corner of the intersection. His response was "it's been gone for a long time".
This project will certainly help the town regain what it once was and more.

You will have as much strength as before. 10 of a total of 1000 is 1%. 1 of a total of 100 is still 1%. Your share count may go down, but so does everyone else's. Your percentage of the company doesn't change. Therefore, your "strength" remains unchanged.

I agree that it isn't either company holding things up, it's the "gubmint" working at it's usual snail pace, and this is just precautionary in case the SEC's nap lasts longer than NCT's.

In my opinion, the problem isn't mathematical, it's psychological. If I have 100 shares at $100 and there is a 2:1 split, I now have 200 shares at $50. But the perception is "when I looked at this yesterday it was $100 and today it's $50. That's a deal and I better buy some more shares". Assuming there are more buyers than sellers, the price goes up.
In the case of reverse split it's the opposite. If I have 1000 shares at $1, and there is a 1:10 reverse split, I now have 100 shares at $10. The perception is "when I looked yesterday this was $1 and today it's $10. I better take some profit while I can and sell some". If there are more sellers than buyers, the price goes down, and potential buyers hold off to try to find the bottom, so the price keeps dropping.
Although we are all rational and logical and know the market cap has not changed in either of the cases, the psychology still plays a part in how it unfolds. This is why I generally don't like reverse splits, but if it understood that the reverse split will bring in more buyers, this should more than offset the psychology of the second scenario above, and let the price move as it should without the price drop often seen with reverse splits.
All in my opinion. Not giving financial advise or recommendations. Do your own DD.

I've been assuming it is a rotary kiln.

And this without REE's
With REE's....not a guess until we know more.
Keep in mind too, that potential buyers may also be watching this site, so don't guess too low or they may take that as a signal to offer something we really wouldn't be satisfied with.
All IMHO.

I believe this is analysis of the core samples from UNL referenced in the September 9, 2021 press release, and not the ones stored at the mine site.

An Excerpt from your 12/26/17 post #32008:
"There is one good piece of news: OPPD (the local power supplier) is on top of this. A year or two ago they issued a contract to an Engineering firm. They did the design of the power line to the plant. It will be a 171kv line and come from a 171 Kv substation near Auburn. The routing, the design of the line, and most of specs needed for purchasing should be complete. It will require 171 Kv breakers and a 171Kv/13.8 Kv transformer."

I'm not sure how they are related, but there is a radio station in Nebraska City that calls themselves "River Country". It is B-103, and they have an AM radio station KNCY.

Niocorp's scandium production is estimated at roughly 100 t/yr, not 10.

I don't disagree. I've read many things on there website also. I've been invested in Niocorp for many years, so no need to preach to me like a newcomer. Someone mentioned Rio Tinto so I was merely pointing out that there was an article where Rio Tinto was mentioned relative to Imperial.
Big Al
Here's a repost from July. I didn't go back to look if the dates have changed, they very well may have. I'm not trying to promote this company, only noting that Rio Tinto was mentioned in conjunction with them.

I had to look at that again, too. It is 250,000 tonnes of ORE. Once refined, it is projected to be around 100 tonnes per year of Sc2O3 at 99.5% purity. Keep in mind that they are projecting to have a complete PEA in the first quarter of 2021 and a complete FS in the third quarter of 2023.
Also, (and I'm going from memory from when I looked at it yesterday) the purity in the ground is around 300 to 500 PPM.
Big Al
It could be Niocorp, or it could be Imperial Mining, or both (or neither).

While we wait for good news on this Sunday afternoon I had to go listen to the Metallica song "My Friend of Misery".
I believe it was mentioned before that Niocorp appeared on Tesla's list of suppliers. Here's an article concerning Tesla and another Canadian miner:

We still don't know for sure about the remaining 25% of niobiom. Of the steel companies I had considered, this one didn't cross my mind. Not saying this is the company, but it would make sense if they make their own slabs instead of importing from Brazil, that the would also use domestic niobium, instead of niobium from Brazil.

Yep. That's the type of scheduling flexibility I was talking about the other day. No need to wait on "Month X" if it can be done sooner.
Big Al
Granted, I haven't had the time to read every detail as you have, but I would think that buying the land in month 5 was the plan at the time. Without looking at the detailed schedule, there aren't any predecessors that come to mind. In other words, they could purchase the land prior to month 5, maybe month 2 or 3, if needed? Schedules should have some flexibility to deal with changing conditions as things progress.
Big Al
Their PEA is expected first quarter of 2021, and FS third quarter of 2023 per a presentation on their web site.
Big Al
I know it's not that simple, hence my last statement. No lecture required.
Big Al
Speaking of selling things, it occurred to me the other day that Niocorp could sell their tailings to USA Rare Earth, which is associated with Texas Mineral Resource Corp. to extract the REE's from Round Top in Texas. They could extract Niocorp's REE's also.
No. That would be too simple.

He should spend more time preventing shareholders of Cleanteq and Excelsior from being "hoodwinked". How are those companies doing?
Big Al
The construction workers don't all show up on the first day, but more of a ramp up as workers are needed for different aspects of construction. Plotting the number of workers on site vs. time yields a curve which can be flattened to limit the number of people on site if needed, similar to "flattening the curve" to not overrun hospital capacity. While this could delay completion of construction, I'm sure it would be preferred to delaying start of construction for something which may or may not happen.
Big Al
A 3:1 reverse split would triple the price but would 1/3rd the number of shares, so that the total value stayed the same. Still can't lose more than 100% of the value.
Could also say that drop from 0.60 to 0.30 (50%) and a drop then from 0.30 to 0.15 (50%) followed by a drop from 0.15 to 0.075 (50%) would be a 150% drop, but the total is only 87.5%.
Also, an increase from 0.60 to 1.20 would be a 100% gain, but then a drop from 1.20 to 0.60 where it started would only be a 50% loss.
Percentages can be interesting things.
