I hate to be pessimistic, but I can’t imagine how there would be money left over with all these claims being settled and so many still outstanding. Legal fees have to come out of all of this too. Of course no one would be happier to be wrong than me.
The shares are repurchased on either the open market or from private placements, at the corporations discretion. Not from the reserve fund.
Per the bankruptcy filing, the reserve fund is set aside for the settlement of outstanding lawsuits resulting from the BK, and any remnants will be distributed in a pecking order which is laid out in the filings. The shares to be re-purchased are from the open market, but can also be purchased from private placements and arrangements such as a large investment firm. That’s up to American.
So the earnings call transcript says that they did not re-purchase any shares last quarter. And they still have 1.65 billion in reserve. Just an FYI.
There will be other chances, this may bounce along a bottom.
These idiots in Puerto Rico are never going to get around to actually presenting their case. Totally corrupt. Totally extortionists. Just treading water and stalling to avoid being found out.
Wow. People sure don’t seem to want to hang on to this stock anymore. I wonder why..
Yeah, it’s just like the market to have advance notice and screw us little guys, and gals...
100% correct.
It’s just going to be a little nauseating until then.
At some point this is going to be a rocket ship. Don’t forget they approved another 2 billion in share buybacks through 2019. When that kicks in.... boom. To the moon..
I’m loading up at 28, Even if it’s not bottom,it’s close enough for me
OMG this stock is killing me.
Can I get an Amen!
Well at least they only extended Puerto Rico by two weeks this time....
Intrigue. I love it.
I guess we’ll know if NRDC launches a big new flashy expensive campaign after the EIS.
He was clearly a brilliant and driven man. Anything is possible. He was a formidable obstacle to our investment.
Agreed. Hopefully his heirs and successors will focus on their own wealth and success and abandon his vein pursuit.
While I’m sorry for his family, I’m curious if he willed a war chest to the NRDC. Hopefully not.
This could be very good for us, or very bad.
Holy crap.
Reminded again what a turkey this stock has become.
Thank you so very much for providing these concise, and insightful updates. Very accurate and very helpful. Thank you from all of us who are anxiously paying attention really appreciate it.
Berkshire Hathaway trimmed 1.3 million shares. From a holding of 46 million they now have 44 .7. A small percentage of sell-off, but definitely a downsizing. I saw that too, thanks for the heads up.
Got a link? I'm not finding any news.
Did buffet dump all of his stock or something? What happened?
Pretty cool that he actually sites us by name in the letter.
I heard that mentioned in the NAK presentation. It appears there is a Wall Street Journal article talking about abolishing the 404C and Preemptive vetoes.
IMHO I’ll bet that would help us with re-partnering.
Oh how I’d take $41 again..
Love to see some proof of that. Anything?
I just want to scream.
This absolutely BS.
unbelievable.
Somebody please sticky this post, and remind me of this when it gets over $45 again. I have only myself to blame for not having sold it four times over.
some progress out of EPA. clarification of guidelines allowing some "wiggle room" on CWA 404 permitting regrading Alaskan wetlands. Could bode well.
https://www.epa.gov/newsreleases/epa-and-army-announce-updated-guidance-alaskas-wetlands
Love the part about "less rigorous permit review" and "avoiding wetlands may not be practicable due to their abundance in Alaska"
yeah, agreed. I'm joking a little. He's not incompetent, Im just sore about my losses.
I do find it curious there's no info, comment or PR from either party officially acknowledging why the FQ deal dissolved. My guess is either Africa dilemna or terms disagreement. Would be nice to get clarity and closure though.
Well I hope NAK is not corrupt. Incompetent maybe. Underfunded surely. Hopefully not corrupt.
I question how ethical any speculative junior mining company is anyway. Dangerous waters to be sure.
Hopefully it's positive. If it is it will begin the dominoes falling of obstructions. BTW did you read the stuff about the NRDC having to register as for agents? Very interesting.
There is probably going to be plenty of time to pick up shares in this price range. The odds of a large partner coming on until the EIS is cleared, are pretty low.
JMHO GLTA
And yes it's a shame to see what the shorts have done to this board. But admittedly they have been right up until now. It hurts to say that though.
I'm long and I'm sticking it out, but I must be honest about the trepidation and reality here. Bob Gillam is a very formidable foe,, as is the Bristol Bay native corporation, and the NRDC , even though they are Chinese agents.
Just be cautious and don't over extend yourselves. Its at least a two year battle to stay afloat until the EIS comes out.
Can't believe the largest airline in the world, and we're sitting parked at $41 a share. Don't want to see it, just can't believe it
They’re clearly taking some massive steps forward by putting a lot of claims to bed. That certainly seems to be progress.
Maybe there’s a “Hail Mary” in this baby yet. I’m not going to count on it by any means, but there’s possibly a very dim light at the end of a very long tunnel... maybe...?
That is an awesome post, and great DD. Thanks for digging that up and making sure we heard about it! Good job.
