Stock related suicides are real.
"Avoid Greek shippers." Or (any) shippers. I rigidly adhere to about 15 rules like that. Both my kids have a copy of my investing rules.
The overarching idea: Buy Quality and Diversify.
DRYS. Forgot that bowser. Lord! DRYS and those big failing Irish banks. In my case, I only buy jumbo American blue chips.
"Buy quality and diversify."
"I buy couple hundred $s when I can. Adding shares weekly from my paycheck annualized adds up.
I am the dumb money. I am 30k down/loss this year in my portfolio holding shares. Waiting for take offs."
"1k shares here and there on other hot stocks
I think 10k shares under a .25 @ 10.00 is a $100k
Imagine 10 hot stocks with 10k shares going to $50, it is the American dream. It's been a nightmare"

LOLOL!
How about a current honest value on The liabilities? The Debt? $Thousands? $Millions ???????? More?
Without an audit, I'd assume the numbers are really ugly
Why no recent audits??? How hard would it be to put a current honest value on almonds, buckwheat and tapioca?
"When was the last time BABYF released audited numbers?"
Even I got tons of PMs from him at one time, and over a year or two.
Yep, most of the cold deli meat I buy is their brand. Get it from our nearby upscale (I thought) market which stocked plenty of it as of a day or two ago.
"Boar’s Head plant tied to deadly listeria outbreak to close indefinitely"
"Boar’s Head Provisions announced Friday it would indefinitely close its southern Virginia plant at the epicenter of a listeria outbreak that killed nine people and hospitalized at least 57 in 18 states, a move that would cost hundreds of employees their jobs.
The facility in Jarratt, Va., which has been shuttered since late July, had been cited repeatedly by U.S. Department of Agriculture inspectors for health and safety violations over the past year. Federal inspectors notified managers at the plant of one or more “noncompliances” on 57 separate days between Aug. 1, 2023, and July 27, 2024. Among the issues cited were “dirty” machinery, flies in pickle containers, “heavy meat buildup” on walls, blood in puddles on the floor, and multiple instances of leaking pipes, clogged drains and heavy dust buildup in certain areas.{
“We understand the gravity of this situation and the profound impact it has had on affected families. Comprehensive measures are being implemented to prevent such an incident from ever happening again,” the company said in a statement posted to its website Friday.
The company also said that its investigation pointed to the production process used to make liverwurst as the culprit for contaminating the meat product and as a result the company will no longer produce liverwurst at its facilities."

"IBM shares hit an all-time high. The company grew 28% this year, with a 20.75% rise this month, outperforming giants like Apple and Microsoft. This surge is attributed to its renewed focus on software and AI, coupled with a low-interest-rate environment making its dividend shares more attractive. IBM is also well-positioned with a lower valuation compared to pricier competitors. Shares fell 0.1% in pre-market trading after rising 2.2% on Wednesday."

Still Terrifying.

Again, I don't own this obvious piece of junk. Never did. And pennyland patents never have real value.
Gee, a mix of almonds, buckwheat, and tapioca.
Nothing's dumber than averaging down on a failing (failed) penny stock.
Not a foodie here. By coincidence I had spent a good part of that day cleaning our musty Whirlpool icebox. Oldest find was a frozen item with a Jan 2021 expiration.

"Mining isn’t particularly lucrative," It's about the worst way to make money ever. I don't get the attraction for some investors.
Read an article about my only mining stock. About 40 years ago. They couldn't hire workers, and they often quit on their first day. Plus the dangers.
You understand it.
"Bernie Madoff's victims were led to believe they were special and not just anyone would be accepted as an investment client. To be accepted was considered an honor."
Bernie often at first rejected accepting money from some investors which made him appear to be honest. And victims would boast to their friend about being accepted as a Madoff investor. Like being accepted at a prestigious country club.
Mostly I park my cash in bank CDs, muni bonds, bond funds, and T securities.
As long as I've been here IHUBbers have been cleaned out in gimmicky "can't lose" "high yield" investments. Most of the local MLP and REIT boards are now moribund. "The best dividend stock is a large cap growth stock." Also consider S&P 500 index funds for their dividends... SPY or VOO for instance,
Note that I don't own any WBA. Thank goodness! My two kids both have owned some for years. Once a pretty good holding and dividend grower. Originally bought it for them because it was son's first job, during college. Pharmacy tech.
Had forgotten WB has a masters:
"Buffett holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska, where he transferred after spending two years at The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He then went to Columbia University and got a master's degree in economics."

i'd never heard of SMCI until recently. But I usually root for smart, hard working analysts like Hindenburg. Their batting average is way over .500. More like .900 from what I've seen.
Investing, as spectator sport....
Damn, Hindenburg is good. Again.
Super Micro Computer (SMCI) stock plunged as much as 26% on Wednesday after the company said it would delay the filing of its annual report for its fiscal year that ended June 30.
The announcement comes a day after short seller Hindenburg Research claimed, among other things, "accounting manipulation" at the artificial intelligence highflyer.
"SMCI is unable to file its Annual Report within the prescribed time period without unreasonable effort or expense," the company said in a statement. "Additional time is needed for SMCI’s management to complete its assessment of the design and operating effectiveness of its internal controls over financial reporting as of June 30, 2024."
Super Micro shares soared from $290 in early January to about $1,200 by March. The stock was added to the S&P 500 (^GSPC) in March. The ticker also joined the Nasdaq 100 index (^NDX) in July.
Super Micro stock is now off more than 60% from its March peak but is still up 50% year to date. The company recently announced a 10-for-1 stock split effective Oct. 1."
Best gift however was the knowledge I gave them of how to thrive with Buffett-type blue chips and Bogle-type index funds.
My kids are mad that I bought myself BRK years ago and none for them. They do own SPY, DIA and even the wonderful-performing QQQ

Exceptional time for BRK
Funny. I was just looking at BRK's numbers a day or two ago and noticed they were just about to the $ Trillion mark.
