PegnVa and Tinner
Your replies are similar so I'll reply to both you.
To blame the republican funding cut (which was directly related to wasteful spending ) is beyond a weak argument.
Show me even one sentence in that republican measure that says to DENY ADDITIONAL SECURITY FOR LIBYA. You cant. Whether there are cuts or not, it is the State Dept. and this administrations duty to prioritise where the resources are best spent. They dont have to pick up the phone and ask the republicans whether they can add security in Libya or not. It is soley their call so the argument is pitiful and shows desperations on the part of the dems.
Nordstrom testified he asked multiple times for additional security. He further said he was critisized for the requests. Peg and Tinner , this is LIBYA. You know, the unstable country where regime change just took place and where al-quaeda elements were already known to be in the country?
Libya should have been priority wise at the top of the list along with Egypt and few other islamic nations where unrest has been taking place and where terrorism is based. The republican cut excuse is beyond sorry. This isnt exactly the consulate in Bermuda where the overstaffed office biggest decision each day is what course to play golf today. This is Libya. Its was the State Dept. and this Admin who bear reponsibilty and could have EASILY added security in LIBYA.
Enough said, the dems need to cut the BS and come clean.
Nordstrom said he sent two cables to State Department headquarters in March 2012 and July 2012 requesting additional diplomatic security agents for Benghazi, but he received no responses.
Not even a motherf----ing response. Disgraceful. Many should be fired including the guy at the top
Inexcusable failure of leadership by all in the Obama administration who failed to respond to the request for increased security in Libya
Sadly, that point was affirmed on Sept. 11, 2012, in Benghazi
Ex-head of military team in Libya: security weak
By BRADLEY KLAPPER and LARRY MARGASAK | Associated Press – 1 hr 21 mins ago.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The former head of a 16-member U.S. military team in Libya said Wednesday the consulate in Benghazi, where the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were killed, never had the forces it needed to protect itself.
Lt. Col, Andrew Wood told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that U.S. security was so weak that in April, only one U.S. diplomatic security agent was stationed in Benghazi.
The committee hearing followed assertions Tuesday night by the State Department that it never concluded that the Sept. 11 attack stemmed from protests over an American-made video ridiculing Islam. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans died in what the administration now says was a terrorist attack.
Asked about the administration's initial — and since retracted — explanation linking the violence to protests over the anti-Muslim video circulating on the Internet, one official said, "That was not our conclusion."
He called it a question for "others" to answer, without specifying. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to speak publicly on the matter, and provided no evidence that might suggest a case of spontaneous violence or angry protests that went too far.
It was a top administration diplomatic official — U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice — who gave a series of interviews five days after the attack that wrongly described the attack as spontaneous.
She said the administration believed the violence was unplanned and that extremists with heavier weapons "hijacked" the protest against the anti-Islamic video. She did qualify her remarks to say that was the best information she had at the time. Rice since has denied trying to mislead Congress.
Meantime, the White House said Wednesday that top counterterrorism adviser John Brennan has met in Tripoli with President Mohamed Magariaf and others and has discussed ways Libya can better help the United States track down those responsible for the deaths.
In statements immediately after the attack, neither President Barack Obama nor Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton mentioned terrorism. And both gave credence to the notion that the attack was related to protests about the anti-Islam video.
"Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet," Clinton said on the night of the attack. "The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. Our commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear: There is never any justification for violent acts of this kind."
Wood, who is a member of the Utah National Guard, said, "The security in Benghazi was a struggle and remained a struggle throughout my time there."
"The situation remained uncertain and reports from some Libyans indicated it was getting worse. Diplomatic security remained weak. In April there was only one U.S. diplomatic security agent stationed there," he said. "The RSO (regional security officer) struggled to obtain additional personnel there but was never able to attain the numbers he felt comfortable with," Wood added.
The committee's chairman, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., has alleged that the State Department turned aside pleas from its diplomats in Libya to increase security in the months and weeks before the attack in Benghazi. One scheduled witness Wednesday, Eric Nordstrom, is the former chief security officer for U.S. diplomats in Libya, who told the committee his pleas for more security were ignored.
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and GOP members of Congress have increasingly sharpened their criticism of the administration's initial explanation of the attack. They said they never accepted the original explanation.
Nordstrom addressed the diplomatic security issue in an Oct. 1 email to a congressional investigator. He said his requests for more security were blocked by a department policy to "normalize operations and reduce security resources."
A memo Tuesday by the Oversight Committee's Democratic staff provided details of Nordstrom's interview with the panel's investigators. In that interview, Nordstrom said he sent two cables to State Department headquarters in March 2012 and July 2012 requesting additional diplomatic security agents for Benghazi, but he received no responses.
He stated that Charlene Lamb, the deputy assistant secretary for international programs, wanted to keep the number of U.S. security personnel in Benghazi artificially low. He said Lamb believed the Benghazi facilities did not need any diplomatic security special agents because there was a residential safe haven to fall back to in an emergency.
Nordstrom's Oct. 1 memo to the congressional investigator said, "You will note that there were a number of incidents that targeted diplomatic missions and underscored the GoL's (government of Libya) inability to secure and protect diplomatic missions.
"This was a significant part of (the diplomatic) post's and my argument for maintaining continued DS (diplomatic security) and DOD (Department of Defense) security assets into Sept/Oct. 2012; the GoL was overwhelmed and could not guarantee our protection.
"Sadly, that point was reaffirmed on Sept. 11, 2012, in Benghazi

Hookrider , thank you for the advice but I am already overflowingly proud of the USA. I suppose in your world, one cant be proud of multiple things.
That doesnt count posterny. It only counts when Bush does it
You dont need a link. Check their obituaries
I dont think whats in Ryan's or anyone elses congressional or senate proposals will bring the Ambassador or the Navy Seals back? Do you? Its what the current admin failed to do and then tried to cover up to the American people is whats important right now and what must be made to be accountable for.
Very simple, his administration and its leadership failed to provide adequate security for our people in Libya and it led to deaths on 9-11 no less
US Ambassador assasinated for first time in thirty years and on 9-11-2012 no less. This admin. failed miserably and did not learn any lessons from previous administration. Just because the previous admin were morons doesnt justify this ineptitude so your excuses are flawed
Yes sylvestor and a pitiful shame Obama didnt learn any lessons from it and allowed our Ambassador and other American heros to be assasinated on 9-11-2012 of all days. He learned nothing from it.
It was an inexcusable failure of leadership by all in the Obama administration who failed to respond to the request for increased security. And its more than fair for Romney or anyone else to take the Obama regime to task for that failure
Thanks for that post fuagf. Im very happy to see he did condemn it. I didnt think he would but am glad he did. Maybe there is hope for him yet.
Ok sox fair enough. But even if we dont demand it, I think it will speak volumes if he doesnt do it anyway on his own.
Hey Balls, long time no see. Hope all is well. Im afraid too many are going to vote the other way. Too many folks have been bought off by the dependency state. I think we are outnumbered unfortunately.
Got a good one for ya. To tell you how dumb I am I bought a stock over a year ago that invests in the Marcellus Shale region gas properties(symbol ECT). Pays a nice divvy and Im doing ok so far. But I didnt pay too close attention when I bought and lo and behold , it turns out Mr Ulrich is the trustee. Just my luck right? Hope it ends better there.
I highly doubt a President of a country condemning this type of action and calling for calm could possibly inflame anything further than it already is. It can only have the opposite effect if anything.
Im sorry you couldnt see for yourself that the Egyptian President should condemn it.
Yes, I have already done so. Thank you and have a nice day.
Your not telling me anything DesertDrifter. I know darn well they hate America, hate its freedom of speech, hate Gays, hate womens rights and hate pretty much all of our freedoms. The fact that you dont demand their leader, who benefits greatly from US aid, apologize or comdemn this action can only lead me to one conclusion about your own bias
In case you didnt know US citizens tax payer money helps to aid Egypt with major dollars. He better damm well condemn it and you better damm well expect him to comdemn it
No but you took the liberty to reply to a post where I asked for sox who said "EVERYONE Condemned it" to show me where Morsi did. And then you jump with your no, not until post. So I have to assume you are with him
Have it your way about how and why it played out. Thats not the issue. Where is the condemnation from Morsi???
Oh I see, you support Morsi and the protesters and dont think he should comdemn it
"Everyone comdemned these attacks"
Oh Really? Then please show me where Egyptian President Morsi did. I'll be patiently waiting
That protest was out of hatred for America. The film was barely a factor and only excuse to commit planned violence in concert with 9-11. Anybody can figure that out with little trouble.
The initial response from the US was pathetic. It then took 18 hours for the Obama team to come out with a little better but not much better reponse. And then Obama has the nerve to say Romney shoots before he aims? I think his peoples initial statement was the real shooting without aim. Thank God for Hillary Clinton and General Petraeus , because without Im convinced Obama would not know what to say.
Where is the apology or condemnation from Egyptian President Morsi??? Hmmm? Where is it? Nothing but silence. Time to silence the taxpayer money to Egypt.
Hookrider. I comdemn and have comdemned many of his actions towards his people but the current leadership is and will be no different towards to the political groups and minorities they oppose and every bit if not more brutal. I guarantee you if the they were in Moubarek's shoes when the revolution was taking place, the current leader would have brutally beaten down any resistance ala Iran and like Syria's Assad is doing now.
Now your question to me was what do I like about him? I liked one thing very very much. I liked that he was a very loyal American ally and was a great source of help to the USA in the war on terror, mediating other issues with other Arab neighbors and having a friendly relation with us. He stepped down when Obama and the world called for him to. Morsi will spit in our face if we ever ask him to step down. Morsi is not our friend and never will be. Morsi could have easily prevented what just happened at the Embassy if he really wanted to. I'll take Moubarek any day of the week over Morsi. The aid to the current Egyptian govt. needs to end. If you dont see it now, even you will be calling for it a year from now when you see the actions Morsi will take in the future.
Odd reply since I never mentioned a film. Maybe your watching too much FOX News and its clouding your replies. I think you need to grow up. Your explanation of why they acted disgraceful is likely right. That is exactly why I call for our leader to comdemn the actions strongly and cut off aid to Egypt. I know its difficult for you to comprehend but those actions should be condemned no matter what the reason. Your not debating rooster now. Your understanding of the Middle East is at about a kindergarten level. If you were really grown up as you asked me to be, you would already have the intelligence to know that the Egyptian govt. easily has the capability to prevent such attacks on Embassies if they really want to.
That disgraceful fiasco at our Embassy in Egypt would have NEVER occurred had our true ally Hosni Moubarek still been in charge. Time to stop all aid to that country immediately. They no longer deserve it. That could have been prevented if the new radical leader really wanted it prevented.
Egpyt should be forcefully critisized by Obama publicly for allowing this to happen. Stop all aide to Egypt unitl the new leader proves himself a true ally. That money could be better sent inside the USA anyway helping to create jobs.
Communist Party Endorses Obama

They can also very easily ammend the agreement to be extended another 6 months to a year if their are loose ends that need to be yet tied up. Happens all the time with business agreements.
Another thing we can also speculate is that their agreement can always be ammended. Parties love to ammend agreements and maybe Seymour may decide to partially compensate Big George by giving Big George the shell and some shares or money. Then big George would be free to roll a company into this shell. Many different scenarios can possibly unfold here.
None of us know the current relationship between Seymour and George because the company doesnt put out much news. But if the two parties have problems, Seymour may also have calculated to let the deal expire and payoff George. Then Seymour would be free to roll out a new company into the shell (such as Homeclick or something else) without Big George. Maybe he thinks that would mean more money in his own pockets down the road with George out of the picture?? I dont know as its all speculation at this time. Thats all we can do is speculate being there is no news. But I do not think 9 months guarantees "doom" by any stretch.
Well Rooster , with current two candidates heading the tickets, I hope this poll is eventually correct however dont get too excited as most of the polls show Obama slightly ahead.
The Romney campaign and the republican party however I believe have been making some shrewd moves lately calling for auditing the fed and today calling for a return to the gold standard. This kind of talk appeals broadly to Ron Paul supporters, tea party and many fiscal minded democrats as well. They are smart to unite with these independent minded swing groups that could tilt this close election.
So one proves you wrong about your silly contention that Ryan has only ever debated local yocals from Wisconsin and am met with reply about dildos. Cased closed.
Your posts have no real substance other than being able to link to others. You obviously have no original thoughts of your own and only speak by link-speak. I see with my own eyes and hear with my own ears , form my own opinions and put things in my own words. Something you are incapable of doing. I hope President Obama wises up and starts to lead for a change and at least has the courage of his convictions to order Harry Reid and the senate to vote for a budget plan they all are proud of and willing to sign their name to it via a real vote. In spite of your silly little links and excuses , their is nothing that prevents them from doing this.
Forget about talk of Biden stepping down, Obama should step down and let Hillary head the ticket. She would have had three passed budgets by now just like her husband did. She would have been a good enough leader and made just enough concessions to be able to corrall just enough republicans in the congress to do it for the good of the country. Our great country is in dire need of a real leader and this guy isnt it. This country is in for far more of a downgrade(downfall) than the credit downgrade that occurred on his watch.
Best of luck to all of you including those of you I have bickered with. You are all ok and I wish you nothing but good health and success. Maybe I'll chime in a few thoughts when we get near election eve in November although I'm sure most of you could care less or prefer not.
PS, pro-life Akin doesnt speak for the many pro-lifers out there when he foolishly speaks about legit rape. All rape is unacceptable. There are many pro-life republicans and just as many pro-life democrats (im in the latter category) who strongly believe in no abortion but who do think its permissable in cases of rape, incest or the life of the mother. Your lumping everyone into the Akin pot isnt flying with Americans as they know Akin is an extremist and doesnt represent mainstream pro-lifers of both parties. I hope Obama & Co. keep talking about Akin until November because the more he talks about this and other issues nobody cares about , the more infuriated people are getting as he fails to address and lead on the critical economic issues of the day. Become a leader and uniter Obama or drop out.
...and pray for a miracle in the Middle East. Disaster seems inevitable
poster44ny , dont go underestimating scrappy Joe Biden. I hear he is very "clean and articulate". Just like the way he described his running mate, the Prez
Paul Ryan takes Chris Matthews to school.
Nope , knew exactly who I was talking to. I was talking to poster pointing out to him the mistakes in your post.
He is wrong as usual poster44ny. Actually Ryan has debated countless of the liberal elites so called best and brightest on national TV programs time and time again including recently with dem campaign chairman Debbie Blabbermouth Shultz who Ryan had foaming at the mouth by the time he was done with her.
Yeah you are right, I dont understand why a democrat shill CNN reporter is so fascinated with it. Are they trying to say its incredible that a conservative dated an African American???? I dont get it
