C Fund in need of a correction
Reference the daily chart of the C Fund below.
C Fund has been on a steep incline since last Nov 12 and the intermediate term is solidly up. With today's close near record highs established this week, the S&P 500 Index is overbought. An overbought condition often results in a correction of the short-term trend. My best guess is pullback to at least the 8-day price MA next week. If the 8-day doesn't hold as support, I suspect the 18-day to hold as the big boys should pile in with new buying.
If you think this market has not been primed, check out the trend of the M2 @ http://research.stlouisfed.org/publications/usfd/page6.pdf

Got this from my commander today
AFLCMC Civilian Teammates,
As I'm sure you know, sequestration remains a possibility as our Nation faces its fiscal challenges. While government officials continue to try to reach agreements to avoid it, the trigger date for sequestration of 1 March 2013 is rapidly approaching. Because the impact of sequestration is so significant, we took steps to reduce spending to include implementing a hiring freeze, separation of many temporary employees, and severe curtailment of operational spending. Unfortunately, in a sequestration that will not be enough.
Today Congress was notified that furloughs could occur under sequestration. If furloughs must be implemented, all affected employees will be provided at least 30 days of notice prior to executing the furlough. Though there are a few employees who will not be furloughed-such as those in combat zones-nearly all AFLCMC civilian employees will be impacted. All furloughs will be conducted in a consistent and appropriate manner, and proper discussions with employee unions will be accomplished. You can get more information on furloughs, and how they impact pay and benefits, through the U.S. Office of Personnel Management guidance at:
https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/furlough-guidance/guidance-for-administrative-furloughs.pdf
At this point, it appears civilian employees could be furloughed for an average of one day per week for up to 22 weeks beginning Apr. 25, 2013. This equates to a 20% pay cut for most employees over that period. While I remain deeply concerned about this potential impact on you and your families, the flexibility within the law is extremely limited. Unlike military members, there is no legal method to exempt civilian personnel from funding reductions.
And beyond the personal impact to all of you, I recognize furloughs will harm our ability to provide the critical work you contribute to maintaining our national security. Our civilian work force is the backbone of our acquisition mission and installation support. AFLCMC relies on you along with our military members and contract work force to deliver the warfighters' edge. Clearly, our programs will be severely, adversely impacted by any furlough action.
Finally, even in the event of sequestration we will do everything we can to perform our core mission of providing for the security of the United States; however, there is little doubt that the automatic sequestration actions would result in a serious erosion of readiness.
We will work hard to keep you informed as more information becomes available. As we deal with these difficult issues, I want to thank you for your patience, your hard work, and your continued dedication to our mission.
VR,
C. D. Moore II
Lt Gen, USAF
Commander, AFLCMC
A one-two punch for furloughed feds. Not only would their take home pay be affected, but their retirement contributions could be reduced as well. According to TSP guidance, if you contribute a percentage of your salary to your retirement funds, the percentage invested will be the actual pay or pay after furloughs. This lower investment amount also ends up lowering employer contributions. National Treasury Employees Union president Colleen Kelley told The Washington Post if furloughs happen, feds living paycheck to paycheck may have to dip into their TSP just to make ends meet.
