Hi BioChica I originally started taking regular fish oil pills a few years ago because my doctor thought that it would help my HDL levels since they were constantly low even with moderate exercise. At the time I didn't put much thought into it and I just picked a generic cheap brand and ever since my HDL moved from 36 to 42 which is at least in the normal range but still somewhat low.
Last year my work sponsored some health classes were they had nutritionists come in and talk to us about our health and I figured why not if they are going to pay me to listen I would. One the classes was on went into Omega 3's 6's and 9's and it got me more interested. I did some more research online which eventually led me to Amarin and I have been reading JL posts about inflammation in the body from excess omega 6's.
I don't really need Vascepa now but I know that I am low on Omega 3's and I figured that a little bit of prevention could go a long way to keeping me healthy. Even if I just took a 2 gram dose instead of the 4 gram dose to help balance me out I figured it might be worth it in the long run. I am always interested in medicine and I am just trying to be proactive.
