Could Google Glass catch the Boston bomber?
It's coming folks...and APDN could be smack dab in the middle of it.

"There is little doubt that Google Glass will cause one of the most dramatic changes in the history of mankind over the next year or so."
I'm not sure what to think anymore.

APDN has been going after the Pharma Sector for at least 8 years? Hmmmm....I'm thinking they should have their first sale any time now!
C'mon you no tellin', fraud bustin' sons of guns...spill the beans already!!!
Applied DNA Sciences says revenues leap, launches into track-and-trace
http://www.securingindustry.com/pharmaceuticals/applied-dna-sciences-says-revenues-leap-launches-into-track-and-trace/s40/a1241/
This article from May of last year must have been why this past quarter was so disappointing.
"Brand protection specialist Advanced DNA Sciences reported a surge in revenues in the quarter ending March 31, driven by its activities in cash-in-transit, semiconductor and textile and apparel authentication."
"Our product shipments have expanded dramatically over the last twelve months [and] we expect production increases to continue," said the firm's president and chief executive Dr. James Hayward.
The one I thought was interesting was the NFC tags.
"NFC tags - VTT Technical Research Centre
NFC tags are added to any packaging so a consumer could touch the code on the packaging with their NFC-enabled mobile phone to download text, audio or web page product information , which can be played back on his handset. Provided spoken dosage instructions from pharmacy staff, to aid a visually impaired or blind person. Currently, the number of mobile phones with NFC technology is limited but VTT believes that it is a growing market."

Great post yip!
I think its definitely a sign that we're on the winning team. And what's cool is that with the government backing of APDN, they have the proper "resources" that if they can't beat another company in the anti-counterfeit competition, they can easily eliminate them. lol
Yahoo doesn't show DataDot Technology as a current competitor, but that's one down, and a few more to go before APDN has nothing but daylight between them and the finish line.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/co?s=APDN
I'll try to see if I can find some dots with data that connect APDN with one or more of the drug makers shown.
hey cooling tower...
I don't know how the technology works, but if an iPhone can read the dna taggant, then a pair of Google glasses can.
I also don't know if APDN will be much involved with this next level of technology that's coming on like a storm as the dna taggant could be botanical or synthetic, etc., but if they are, and they don't pull a reverse split, or sell out, or do anything that would affect any of the shares people now own, then this very well could be a "lottery" stock for us/them.
Again, the problem with APDN as I see it, is with the agenda of the people on the inside. Most of them own massive amounts of shares, so what do they care if the price rises much from where it is now, as long as they are able to sell their millions upon millions of shares when they want to.
I posted the question on this board before in regards to "How much is enough?", and now my good buddy Obama is asking the same thing...(Just kidding...he's not my good buddy...<grin>)
Obama wants to put a cap on how much money can be in an IRA account because "Obama is essentially asking people this: How much do you really need for retirement?"
http://money.msn.com/now/obama-says-no-to-fat-retirement-accounts
If Dr. Hayward has 135,000,000 shares. Would he be good with:
A.) Selling them at 20 cents a piece to get 27 million dollars out of the company in addition to his salary and bonuses? (I know I would be happy with that amount.)
Or B.) Is Dr. Hayward wanting to get the stock price up to 7.50 per share or higher so he can end up with over one BILLION dollars?
Or C.) Does Dr. Hayward not care about the money and just wants to have a legacy with helping to eradicate counterfeits with his botanical dna markers?
Hmmmm...that's a toughie.
But the question at those levels really isn't about how much someone needs (money wise), it's about how much they want.
Let's hope Dr. Hayward is one greedy son of a gun, because if he is, then chances are he will go with option B, and we will all stand to profit from it.
Go Dr. Hayward! Want, want, want!!!
Digital Evolution: DNA May Bring Computers to Life

Amazing, amazing, amazing...
As much as they (MM's, etc.) play with the stock price, I don't think they will ever manipulate it down below 20 cents again or my name isn't 2020 Hindsight.
Oh....wait...my name isn't 2020.
Time for the daily drag down. IMO
Amazing is the right word. But I don't think most of the counterfeit notes, etc. will be detected with a smart phone in as little as a year from now.
They will be checked with Google Glasses (or some other company's similar type glasses).
http://www.google.com/glass/start/what-it-does/
Whether it's a dollar bill, a microchip, a prescription medicine, a designer anything, etc., we will only need to look at an item with our stylish eye-wear and say, "ok, glass. Verify origin.", and right before our right eye, is all the information on the item's history from date of origin to now, made possible because of a tiny little botanical dna marker made by a company we all know. If there was no marker, the response would be something like "Unable to verify origin", and then we would have to decide if we wanted to buy something that we didn't know where it had been, or when.
Anybody ever do a "Where's George" search on a dollar bill where you go to the Where's George Website and type in the serial number of a bill and you can see where it's been during it's "Where's George" history? You add the location and date where you got the bill, and it travels on from there.
It would be like that, only people wouldn't have to type in any info. And the information would be from the very start of its existence to the here and now and would show the date, time, and location of each and every time someone said, "ok, glass. Verify origin."
Amazing, indeed.
Personally, based on information that's out there, I think the Treaury Dept./Federal Reserve/Bank of England have been marking bills with botanical dna ink for some time, but as Mitch says, because APDN is a public company, and because they are constrained in the way they disclose information, they aren't allowed to tell, or won't.
You know...its the whole government thing with their war on drugs, war on terrorism, and war on counterfeits being like a football team and its playbook. Sure, the opposition is going to see what you are up to the more you run certain plays, but that book is well guarded because it contains surprise plays that haven't been made public yet so they can be most effective when they are most needed.
Once certain "teams" make it public its in their "playbook", APDN's technology is going to be a touchdown play, again and again.
My analogies aren't always the best, but hopefully I'm getting across that I think the information we have been given so far is only the tip of the iceberg. (Or dna strand in this case...)
yep.
good posts today yip. Lots of bueno info.
Here's another article on the Google Glasses...if APDN does start marking stuff that can be seen with those glasses, and it gets advertised properly, then the possibilities and dollars for APDN (and it's shareholders) expand exponentially. IMO of course.
http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/technolog/strip-clubs-theaters-google-glass-wont-be-welcome-everywhere-1B9231620?ocid=msnhp&pos=1
No idea other than it will be longer than we would like it to be.
APDN and the insiders involved with it have their own agenda, and my biggest gripe with the company is that they aren't as open about what is really going on as we would like them to be.
We would all be better off (mentally) if we just let APDN do their thing and only looked at our stock accounts and this board once every few months, but that ain't gonna happen! lol
howdy silly...
I'm not an industry professional, but I'll throw my 2 cents out there just because...
It is kind of comparing apples to oranges IMO, but I would say the DLA contract will have more of a long term impact because of the validation aspect of the deal, not because of the actual sales dollars directly associated with marking military microchips.
When companies are approached by APDN sales people (assuming APDN has any <grin>), I'm sure one of the first questions they get is, "Who else currently uses your technology besides a guitar maker.", and when the answer is, "Well, the United States Government for one.", that would speak volumes for their product's legitimacy.
I see Markem-Imaje as being the yellow brick road to the Emerald City for APDN. If they travel that path, there may be a few flying monkeys and evil forests along the way, but in the end, everybody gets what they were wishing for.
good find wishful...
interesting timing of this program with the Markem-Imaje announcement.
There was definitely a lot of nano stuff on the agenda...
...and nice to see that APDN is the last presentation of the day.
(Hopefully they will stick in people's minds the most.)
Bodes well me thinks...
Happy Monday mcsharkey and all..
Don't know what caused the price to drop down so much at the end of the day on Friday, as everything APDN is doing right now bodes well (with the exception of their lack of info for those of us who have a vested interest in the company).
The rapid personnel expansion expansion is a huge deal.
APDN's link with the US government is a huge deal.
Their latest link up with Markem-Imaje is a potentially huge, HUGE deal. It could be the start to not just worldwide acceptance of APDN's technology, but worldwide demand for it. IMO
http://www.securingindustry.com/electronics-and-industrial/applied-dna-sciences-teams-up-on-ink-supply/s105/a1689/
"The two companies are also considering developing inks for use on a wide range of substrates. Development of these inks would give APDN clients access to a broader range of products and printing technologies from Markem-Imaje."
http://www.markem-imaje.com/file.cfm/Markem_Imaje_9000_Series_Printing_Capabilities_DS_HQ_A3_S1.pdf?contentID=2873
The applications were mentioned before, but take a look at the last page of that link above. If APDN gets involved with even a few companies that get their printing equipment and ink from M-I, or rather, if M-I starts introducing a botanical dna laced ink as an added security feature, I can not imagine it would be long before companies start asking for the ink that has the plant dna in it.
In my dreams anyway...
Holy Moly!
Arizona doesn't have any Forensic Alarms Installers.
Hmmmm...could be a good career switch for me.
Start my own business....set up a subsidiary company in the British Virgin Islands where I can tax shelter my profits...get people to work for me so all I have to do is count and launder the money that comes rolling in...
Hmmm....hmmm...
Well APDN better step up their US sales force because we're being invaded!
http://www.strandna.us/index.html
http://uk.linkedin.com/pub/robert-simpson/13/b97/148
Although it does look like they manufacture the device only, and can use any type of dna marker. So maybe they buy from whoever is cheaper at the moment?
http://www.strandna.us/how-it-works.html
"Any property will be definitively stained and will work the same way as any asset marking technology marketed today in commercial environments by such organizations as Smartwater, REDWEB and SelectaDNA."
Sorry APDN, but I'm getting me one of these since you have nothing for me. If you do, you aren't doing a good job of letting me know about it, as I would love to support you instead of Robert Sampson's company.
and of course, these folks are here too...
http://smartwatercsi.com/
SmartWater CSI, LLC™, a cutting edge, high technology company with a track record of crime deterrence and theft reduction in the UK, has established its North American corporate headquarters in Fort Lauderdale.
I don't know if the spray system is Smartwater's or not. All I was pointing out is that there is a Smartwater label on the door as well. They may not be related as the store may have more than one system in place.
If APDN doesn't have a system like that yet, they should make one with police grade pepper spray in it also. Now THAT would be a deterrent to forced entry!
I noticed the Smartwater sign also. "The Solution to Theft"
it also says, "Property protected by forensic science"
Forensic and science would scare me off if I was a burglar.
"Hey! Hold on there Chuckie! Wait a minute before you smash in that window. "Protected by science"? What the fudge does that mean!?"
"I don't know Jack. Never understood science meself, and I hated it. Thankfully I dropped out of school after my third go around with the 9th grade so I didn't have to deal with it no more. Whatever it means, it can't be good. I say we move on to a different place that doesn't have it."
"Good idea mate. You must be drinkin' that Smartwater stuff!"
"Heh"
"Heh Heh"
"Heh Heh Heh"
Seems like Inventionland would have something like this out with APDN's technology by now. I'd buy it if they did.
Great find ms. johnsyn!
Will be interesting to see if any US politico's names surface as a result of that.
"As well as Britons hiding wealth offshore, an extraordinary array of government officials and rich families across the world are identified, from Canada, the US, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Iran, China, Thailand and former communist states."
One thing is for sure...its obvious that greed has no political, geographical, or racial boundaries whatsoever. It's the glue that holds the rich together.
I totally agree with wishful.
Thanks yip!
Pats on the backs all around for all the great info.
Doesn't look like that technology has the same type of track and trace capability APDN has though. It simply authenticates whether a part is "original" or not using a previous scan of the part itself.
The advantage APDN's technology has is that it can be loaded with terabytes and terabytes of information on top of authenticating the product is not counterfeit or has been tampered with.
Again...the new wave of technology is all about information and being connected with every person and with every thing through cloud computing.
For example:
https://jawbone.com/up
We want to see what our friends buy, what they eat, what they wear, what they are doing, what they aren't doing, where they are, etc., etc., etc. at any given date and time. And more importantly, big businesses and the government want to know all that too.
Verifying something is original and has not been tampered with is great, especially if you don't have to add anything to the part or mark it in any way, but it's nothing compared with not only being able to authenticate something, but also having the part tell you when it was manufactured and by which company, where it's been, who has inspected it, when it was checked, what original contract or buy order it is tied to, who bought it, where it is now, etc.
Any and every item in the world by itself, whether it be microchips, nuts, bolts, handbags, passports, pills, dollar bills, sweaters, suits, copper wire, etc., is just an inanimate object.

Not alive, esp. not in the manner of animals and humans.
Showing no sign of life; lifeless.

lifeless - dead - spiritless - insensate - dull
But add a dollop of botanical dna, and whatever it touches suddenly becomes alive with information accessible by anybody with the right hardware and software.
Back to the Future - here we come!
My bad. Delete "Everyone here knows" and change it to "Sometimes it appears APDN sales folks couldn't sell their way out of a wet paper bag"
I know...I'm just giving them a hard time because of last quarter's numbers. I'm sure the sales team at APDN is stellar. It can't be an easy thing selling a product like their's.
Apple is preparing to go where Samsung can’t follow
http://news.yahoo.com/apple-preparing-where-samsung-t-154012782.html
“Perhaps the most crucial element of wearable computers, in fact all mobile devices, is the cloud,” Varitimos wrote in a recent article. ”People are overlooking the incredible infrastructure that will be necessary to support true mobility. Apple has established a presence in the cloud, and it has the resources to dominate it, to an extent that Samsung can only watch. Samsung will remain a follower, and may even be forced to eat Apple’s breadcrumbs.”
If we see a PR about an LOI with Apple, those of you waiting for the share price to drop better buy shares at whatever the going rate is that day, or you will be crying in your beer for years to come. IMO of course. lol
Very nice pic johnsyn...
M-I could very well give APDN a much needed shot to the kisser and send them soaring.
Interesting on how with all the no news days we've had an average volume of 7.1 million, and now that a PR comes out that could have HUGE implications for APDN revenues, we'll be lucky to have over 2 million volume today.
Must be people are focusing on the "Authorized Reseller" part of the LOI "establishing Applied DNA Sciences as an authorized reseller of Markem-Imaje Fluid inks."
Everyone here knows APDN sales folks couldn't sell their way out of a wet paper bag, so today's news is the same thing as saying APDN now has more product that they won't be selling. (grin)
C'mon APDN Sales Goons - get your freakin' game on!!!
(I can't believe they made me say "freakin'"...I hate that word. lol)
Thanks for the concern yip.
APDN has definitely been an emotional roller coaster for me, and a bunch of other folks I'm sure.
I'll feel much better and be a ton calmer once the share price gets over a dollar.
And with APDN's new business friend, that may happen real soon IMO.
I may be a bit premature with this, but....
APDN...To da Moon! lol
If I remember right, Agora Financial mentioned something about a 33,333% gain for their undisclosed wonder stock.
Which, if the wonder stock is APDN, that would put their share price in the 20 something dollar range, which is about where I see it easily getting to if they were to become a worldwide household name.
Ooohhh...my neck and back tingles are moving downwards. lol
However it works out best - contract or no contract - it doesn't matter, as long as something happens with the relationship to expand botanical dna usage across the globe.
Looking at Markem-Imaje's markets they service, they all fall right in line with the markets APDN has been going after.
http://www.markem-imaje.com/markets-solutions/markets

It sure would be nice to see botanical dna taggants under the "Solutions" category someday.
You are most welcome apdn1.
If APDN does in fact partner up with Markem-Imaje in some way, the good Dr's opinion about reaching equilibrium on revenues and expenses this year will end up being a very conservative statement.
I have no idea what kind of numbers we would be talking about, but if Markem's 30,000 customers each got a dna marker for $50,000.00, that would be 1.5 BILLION dollars for APDN not counting authentication services, etc.
Not that all of them (customers), or even most of them would buy a dna taggant, or that APDN would charge that much for each one with that kind of volume, but my neck and back are tingling with the news today, and I have the utmost respect for my tingles!!! lol
APDN...please, please, please sign a contract with Markem-Imaje!
About Markem-Imaje
Markem-Imaje, a wholly owned subsidiary of the New York-based Dover Group is a trusted world manufacturer of product identification and traceability solutions, offering a full line of reliable and innovative inkjet, thermal transfer, laser, and print and apply label systems.
With more than 95 years of experience, Markem-Imaje delivers fully integrated solutions that enable product quality and safety, regulatory and retailer compliance, better product recalls and improved manufacturing processes.
Headquartered in Bourg-lès-Valence, France, Markem-Imaje provides more than 30,000 customers with optimal product marking and coding solutions. Additionally, Markem-Imaje customers are supported by more than 30 subsidiaries, 6 R&D centers, several equipment repair centers and manufacturing plants strategically located around the globe.
We have always said we believed APDN could become a household name, but I think we were always thinking United States wise. A partnership with Markem-Imaje (Dover) could make them a household name worldwide in no time! IMO
I didn't care for the fact that it is a letter of intent either. Typical noncommittal penny stock lingo, but, the connection to a Dover Corporation subsidiary is potentially HUGE for APDN (and US!) should they actually put botanical dna laced ink to a contract.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letter_of_intent
"A letter of intent (LOI or LoI, and sometimes capitalized as Letter of Intent in legal writing, but only when referring to a specific document under discussion) is a document outlining an agreement between two or more parties before the agreement is finalized. The concept is similar to a heads of agreement. Such agreements may be Asset Purchase Agreements, Share Purchase Agreements, Joint-Venture Agreements and overall all Agreements which aim at closing a financially large deal."
"The most common purposes of an LOI are:
To clarify the key points of a complex transaction for the convenience of the parties
To declare officially that the parties are currently negotiating, as in a merger or joint venture proposal
To provide safeguards in case a deal collapses during negotiation.
To verify certain issues regarding payments done for someone else e.g. credit card payments"
They would...I'm just stirrin' the pot.
But I could see them cashing out most of what they own when the price was a few pennies up (giving them hundreds of thousands of dollars of profit), and keeping a few million shares in reserve in case the price does pop someday.
They could remove just enough shares to get their initial investment back to eliminate the risk, and let the rest ride.
I don't know how the big boys play with their (and our) money, I'm just throwing out speculations to keep my mind active. lol
I wonder if Crede is behind the action the last couple of weeks..
maybe they told APDN to keep their yaps shut until they (and their MM's) worked their magic and were able to dump the majority of their shares.
50,000,000 shares at a couple of cents profit per share would be close to a million bucks. Not a bad return on 7.5 million for loaning it out for a few months.
Money for a finance company is like inventory for a parts dealer. You don't make any profit if the stuff is sitting on the shelf. You have to have good turnover.
Sure...Crede could wait for the stock price to skyrocket like the rest of us are, but is that going to be tomorrow. Next week? Next year? Or perhaps they already know it's a fixed game and the price has already hit it's highest point ever.
Dum dum dum dumb......
Time will tell. I just hope I have enough time left on this Earth to see what does happen.
