I'm not an industry professional, but I'll throw my 2 cents out there just because...
It is kind of comparing apples to oranges IMO, but I would say the DLA contract will have more of a long term impact because of the validation aspect of the deal, not because of the actual sales dollars directly associated with marking military microchips.
When companies are approached by APDN sales people (assuming APDN has any <grin>), I'm sure one of the first questions they get is, "Who else currently uses your technology besides a guitar maker.", and when the answer is, "Well, the United States Government for one.", that would speak volumes for their product's legitimacy.
I see Markem-Imaje as being the yellow brick road to the Emerald City for APDN. If they travel that path, there may be a few flying monkeys and evil forests along the way, but in the end, everybody gets what they were wishing for.
