Gander hired away an installer not an engineer.
The academies still exist. Future purchases and support are a different issue.
It is general knowledge that the Gander Mountain relationship went up in flames years ago.
In addition to salary, it is believed the CEO and COO take commission on gross sales.
One might ask the question of a company in regards to quarterly awarded bonus options?
...pie.
Where is the LIKE button?
It would appear that the GSA number for one of the simulators has somehow been improperly linked to a garbage can.
Here is your menu of VirTra GSA prices:

The old hardware may be VirTra but that's where it ends. Them ain't VirTra on screen shooting videos. Looks like the guy who quit VirTra to work for Gander is doing well...for Gander.
...it used to.
Not for a company that has been engaged in the market this long with such a well compensated sales and sales support staff.
I do certainly hope the next reports prove me wrong.
If one reflects back on the spate of firings in the sales department and the ensuing rants regarding new sales compensation packages, one might understand why sales have been lackluster. When a sales staff, who's background is in dental equipment sales, brings in a base salary of 100k each one can see where there is little incentive to actually sell. A small 200k sale on occasion does little to cover the salaries of 40+ employees.
The BOD is comprised of two of BF's personal friends and of course BF. One member has zero real interest or investment in VirTra. He is there simply to override any counter vote by Matt Burland. BF has VirTra locked up.
VirTra underwent a very high employee turnover rate over a short time especially for a small tech company. One hopes this apparent stability is a positive sign.
Not making flight simulators.
Rest assured VirTra will not be expanding beyond marksmanship and situation awareness simulation in the foreseeable future. Flight and mechanized armor simulation is complexity level far in excess of VirTra's current capabilities and available resources.
I do not know if VirTra is actively pursuing VBS-2 integration at this time. I merely stated that VBS-2 compliance may be of concern in respect to VirTra's success in the military simulation arena.
"Its just an expensive video game."
PEO STRI clearly requires backwards compatibility with VBS-2 in their simulator platforms. The environment you saw in that video is the VBS-2 world space. While the VBS-2 platform had its origins as a video game engine, it has grown to become the defacto standard for military simulation. Its ability to closely integrate ground, air, navel and space components utilizing third party proprietary modules is currently unparalleled in the simulation industry.
VirTra's success in the military simulation market may well hing on its ability to integrate their systems into the world space you saw in that video.
This is how Laser Shot achieved their success.
I assure you, that is far more than just an expensive video game.
Speaking to this and earlier posts regarding compensation. The sales staff salaries previously presented on this forum by another member are correct. Additionally, what is not mentioned in the audit is the commission the CEO and COO rate per sale. Then there is the matter of gratuity...I only mention all of this as I believe there is a great imbalance between compensation and performance in VirTra's upper management structure.
You will find the 2011 audited financials now posted on the VirTra web site. Happy reading.
Indeed. That was the assurance from the VirTra executives at the shareholders meeting.
"They require different types of leaders of (at) different junctures."
In the case of VirTra, this is a correct assessment. I don’t mean this as a personal insult, there is nothing wrong with admitting one needs to step aside and let greater experience run the show. While Mr. Ferris built VirTra, he has never worked for a company, any company, from which he could garner the experience one would need to helm a growing company of forty professionals.
ID uses real time polygonal mapped environments and cannot achieve a level of realism beyond the most current real time game engine technology. Facial expressions and body language kinematics are a critical component of threat assessment in CQB encounters. Consider that if Hollywood cannot create an indistinguishable from real CG person utilizing months of pre-rendered model work then any modern real time engine has no hope of achieving such a critical goal.
PEO STRI has made it publicly clear they are looking for a system that exceeds VBS2 and is yet backwards compatible with the currently fielded VBS2 simulators. A difficult combination if you understand both the depth and limitations of the VBS2 platform. However due to the real time nature of the ID platform, ID is well suited for a transition to VBS2 legacy and new technology.
VirTra's greatest strength is the use of actors and real environments to achieve the subtle person to person cues troops need to assess a situation. “Real on real”, IMO, generates a heightened sense of environmental awareness and stresses required for effective simulation that a RT Engine cannot. Its drawback is its fixed footprint and inability to allow users to “look or walk around” objects. The footprint issue can be solved. Two dimensional video however is still two dimensional video projected on a screen. As VBS2 backwards compatibility is a requirement of the now months old EST-II RFP then VirTra would either have to switch over to a RT Engine or figure out a way to integrate the VirTra 300 into both a VBS2 legacy world and whatever future platform is accepted by PEO STRI as a video based simulator adjunct component.
I suspect normal troop encumbrance may be had with the ID platform. That’s just one photo and that pack can be stacked on an alice pack. Normal encumbrance in a VirTra simulator is easy but there is limited floor space available. For instance, a fire team usually requires 4 or 5 troops at a 5M dispersal for obvious tactical reasons. There are ways around this current limitation as well. ID movement by joystick, again IMO, takes one out of the immersive of the simulation; however I did watch a demo by another company that does not use joystick but rather tracking cameras and position sensors.
Agreed. This it's a reasonable assessment.
Please note that the 360 simulator product was dropped from production years ago due the complexities involved in manually swinging screen 5 in and out of position. It may return one day but for now the product line is the VirTra 300, 180, 100, and VirTra Range.
