That article is from February 2014.
Mgmt had a virtual meeting with investment bank RothMKM yesterday. Anyone care to start a rumor?
Mr Chen strong statements on past 2 conference calls.
" our frand rate proven to be highly defensible in court"
"no acquisitions, we feel we have best of breed already in house"
I am paraphrasing, but that is the gist.
That takedown to 97 recently didn't last long, there is a new investor sentiment, I believe.
Cheers
I agree, I don't have much faith in this quarterly report. Already had a big jump , momentum has died down. Market is hard on IDCC reporting, a good quarter just isn't good enough, especially after a stock price run..
Smells like the quarter report after the big jump in 2017 when it got to $101, long down slide after that, check my post from then & Mickey response.
I sold a chunk today.
I will buy back in again. Not negative on the company, just doing some harvesting.
Perhaps you should be discussing why BOD approved a huge jump in share buyback instead of Mickey dreams. Let's hope they went through & bought at the start of the day.& why they felt the need to push a much bigger buyback.
Doesn't Wall St have a value of $80 or so.
Follow the volume, see how long it lasts, it lasted a while in the run to $100.
Makes sense, thanks guys.
Does anyone have an answer for the crazy volume + price moves Friday afternoon & in to after hours.
1.1 million shares. Price popped, then dropped. Thanks.
Volume 406K per Yahoo Finance, busy last hour.
Been a while since we've seen that volume.
Jeffweak does not give analysis.
I have sold on 12/31 & bought again on 1/1 for tax reasons in a low income year, like really low.
Appreciate the reply's on my post. I have learnt some things re stop losses. I have just seen over the years IDCC post good results & get creamed, when the stock was in the 40's. Was just posturing how they would have to perform in the high 90's.
Maybe some of you may want to go back & look at the price action on 12-15-2016. That was the day they announced improved guidance & an Apple licence.
Just saying.
PS Still a long, was just looking for a trade.
PPS Hey Micky, I'm not the 2nd coming of DMillar.
If it's $200 in 5 years I'm in high cotton.
Thanks Dog, don't know how I messed up that one.
I could have been sitting around Thursday thinking "Why is the volume so low on earnings day"
Cheers; love your work.
Feb 16
Earnings are just around the corner.
At these SP levels, Numbers & guidance better be bloody good.
IDCC has to blow it out, not just outperform to get any Wall ST respect.
That's based on previous history.
Also look at mid Dec. , guidance up & Apple signing & DROP after.
Thinking stop loss 95 on my IRA: (1/3) of my IDCC portfolio.
Still a fan FYI.
Kinda ironic on Inaugaration Day that the big news is a US co. suing another US co when the Chinese are still robbing everyone blind.
Squinge, Zacks website has it as a 5-Strong Sell. They were talking it up Dec 29 due to upward revision on earnings & had it as a Hold as of that date.
Not huge volume, considering a downgrade.
Zacks lowered to Strong Sell, think that happened today, but can't be sure.
Income tax paid 2015 was $64,621,000.
Effective tax rate was 35.7%.
Virtually no AH activity on this news.
Guess we will see pre- market or 1st hour if this news is going to hurt.
Did MSFT buy the "buyer beware" on this from Nokia or do they have some insurance policy or pmt. from Nokia if it comes down to a loss.
Has anyone ever filed a monopoly claim against IDCC before and won???
IoT set to triple to $1.7T by 2020.
That's some growth.

While the true value of this "R&D" is always after the fact, we will always be "pissing into the wind".
Until MGMT can figure a way to the gold "First to market" all that
Intellectual Property will be at the mercy of the courts.
Partner to the right CO. first, then license after.
Nasdaq AH lists trades by time so AH volume looks correct.
http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/idcc/after-hours
We may be down today because of Virntex (VHC) down 45%.
Patent Reform bill removed.
Is this significant to IDCC.
No price movement or volume.
Guess IDCC can't be much of a troll.
SPEX up 60% on this news.

David,
Do you remember what court we won in early 2011 with attorney Dugger
that spike share price to 58.
Have we had any significant favorable decisions since then????.
Also, just how often has the ITC instituted a ban recently???????
Thanks for the reply.
It's a bet on the decision as well.
Certainly it's not investing.
Mr Dodd, expiration date is Dec 20. Decision Dec 19.
Couldn't you buy cheaply (close to expiration) Dec 18, or are court delays commonly done last minute.
Hey Nickyc, strange day indeed.
We were already going down the crapper in the last hour of trading.
High volume AH, but no price change.
Two possibles, we got pulled down by Blackberry news or this could be options expiration Friday.
The AH volume makes absolutely no sense.
No news out there I can find that would explain volume.
Regular hour trading volume fairly high.
invalid or not infringed.
Shaw says it's either one or the other on our patents.
0 for 6 or whatever the #.
I could see 1 or 2 not cutting the mustard, but whiffing on everything doesn't make sense.
Aren't the Feds going to make some announcements Friday related
to IP companies???????
You were talking about it a week ago, but nothing since.
Could be bumpy, if anything like that judge's decision recently.
Nokia karma.
I always thought Nokia was a big thorn in IDCC not getting bought out.
NOK seems to have had a big runup last few days on maybe possible buyout rumors. Buyers may not be so keen now.
I could be wrong, I'm a total idiot.
This has however taken all of the momentum out of NOK's recent run.
Look at the 5 day chart.
That maybe a reason they might want to settle.
listen, Barclays & Evercore understand micro & macro economics.
Ironically, where today would you want to be invested in a global
downturn, MOBILE.
If it lasts to March, then all my capital gains will be long term.
Averaged in at 47, 1250 shares.
Took a $9500 gain in 2010.
This mgmt been good to me.
1. Dividend
2. Took out poison pen.
3. Bought some good small cos. when y'all were bitchin about no div.
4. Sought SA, after APPROACHED, & I'd say early in the wars.
5. Hired David Dunner??? for orals.
What more do you want from mgmt.
The silence is on orders from Evercore, OK.
like I've said before, post your freaking M&A experience here if
you disagree.
Cheers
A year ago. Jan 4 2011.
We are down 9.28% from this date.
That was before any CAFC orals or any SA announcements.
I think even a partial CAFC victory is huge.
I think even a turned down offer of $60 would jump the stock, just check TLB stock action.
That's not even talking about signing any new contracts.
Too many pluses, too few negatives.
Mr Market hates uncertainty, wears Depends, so does DMiller.
No news is still good news IMHO, plus I can wait for my long term
capital gains.
Cheers everyone.
There's an assumption IDCC will drop big if there is no sale.
Maybe not, check out Talbot's (TLB) over the past week.
They got a $3 offer when their stock was at $3. Mgmt turned it down
but the stock jumped overnight to $2.50, & now sits around $2.70
or so.
Maybe if we get an offer even in the $60 range, which I thing mgmt
would turn down, we could still jump into the low 50's.
That assuming there's an offer & we are told the price they turned
down. Just sayin.
These are not IDCC rules, these are Evercore rules, somebody who has
a little more M&A experience than you.
Thanks for the explanation, you too huibs.
I'm sorry, I don't understand you guys.
We have AH volume of 240,000 shares & all you can talk about is that
amateur Rommie.
At least cheers to Paheka for asking WTF, deafeningly silence here.
I'm too dumb to give a good analysis, but I do think it's quite interesting.
Could be something coming Apple/Samsung next few days.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/insight-apple-vs-samsung-lawsuit-002133075.html
Says Koh could rule any day on granting Apple motion to halt
Samsung sales of Galaxy in US right at Xmas season.
No Mr Miller, that's not me.
I'm just saying it will be interesting to see how the market reacts
because S&P all but guaranteed they would do this.
I think this was a big reason why the market went down this past week. Seeing how the market actually reacts to this will be fascinating in a news already baked in scenario.
Mr Miller, S&P had been threatening a downgrade for 2 weeks.
I think this will be an interesting sell the news experiment.
I think the pros already assumed this, the amateur sheeples, probably
not.
I think it will be interesting to see who controls the market more.
With all due respect, I don't believe the market will drop much.
