I won't need to post four times to your one post as you felt necessary. What I said was an innocuous post that is an educated opinion.
First you don't have to be a millionaire to purchase a smart phone, most people with an upgrade or are starting new service; can more than likely get a free smart phone, or one anywhere from 20-100 dollars. You could spend more but most people wouldn't need to. The biggest consideration is the monthly cost, most companies have features for about 30 dollars or less a month to have unlimited web and email.
second, by next year i have seen projections from websites estimating about half of cell phone owners will have smart phones. the prices keep dropping. Just like low cost long distance companies are few and far between nowadays because most people have free domestic long distance with their cell carrier. i think you will see the prices of data feature drop drastically across the carriers in a few years, because of competition and the drastic increase in smart phone owners. The unlimited voice that used to cost most people 100 now cost between 49.99 and 69.99. The costs for cell phone service has done nothing but drop. people keep getting more minutes for their money, with the free features like voice mail, call forwarding, etc.
When it comes to droids, iphones and blackerries, there are probably millions of free and paid for applications that can be downloaded and used, i have only paid for two out of about 30 applications i have tried. The more applications that can be ran on a phone the more useful tool it can be. I have about 10 applications for various jobs, tasks or entertainment.
There are several hundred to thousands of people at scores of call centers around the US that specifically trouble shoot data phones and air cards for the various providers. The one i work at that is contracted to support a major carrier has several hundred employees trained specifically for data technical support. what does that tell about the way the market is trending and the mass of people that already have smart phones?
I won't bother pointing out the hundreds of common everyday reasons you may want more information than to go to a random business that pays for that service and then have them call you back. I can honestly say that most services or stores i look for in the phone book, internet, or internet on the smart phone, i usually care a great deal about the company i may do business with. if it is restaurant, i would want to see patron reviews, menus, and the like. If I want to call a tow truck and don't care which company i choose, the i would just use the browser and google on my phone to get me the number or another free application that would pull it up even quicker. I really don't care if it takes me an extra 30 seconds or minute to get a ton more information so i can make an educated decision.
