ETrade has been cancelling my GTC high price sells, only on AMC and APE for a while this year. Sometimes takes me 5 tries to get one to stick. Dont disagree with your technique if i could keep a constant eye on the market, but no.
Still working on shares and crazy charges in my accounts. Ill leave it at that but its a shit show.
Tingling with excitement already! Time for the APEs to blow the lid off this one at last.
Against BANKS, lol
That said, I picked up GNS @ .5599 just a few weeks back, which looked a lot different numbers-wise. Gave some back yesterday. The swings these days are amazing.
Well, a step or two in the right direction. Grade needs to keep improving, but I guess I can get off the damn ledge for a while.
Right, but everything changes in November, imo
Hello sir in a different context! Been lurking here a bit, too. Similar thoughts, perhaps. Accumulated more yesteday. Feels like we've been here done this before...hopefully so. I'm pretty patient..
My guess is that it will go through with a Chinese takeover whenever the time is ready
Odds that Brandon & company raise capital gains is probably another consideration for me the more I think about it...or probably the northern communist, either for those on that side of the border
I'm holding out with hope of a better offer for now...not really sure at what point I should let go of that yet, though. Probably need to let some before year end at any rate. I'm stupid overweight here.
Wow, I didnt see that one coming.

Just sector-wide overreaction to fed head fake, imo...inflation is real...interest rates will make wall street happy...
Whole market has been insane for a while. Been getting crazy oscillations between crypto and gold. Everything ultimately points to weak USD as far as I can see as they keep printing money while destroying the great nation they have stolen.
Well, I was almost right on that one. Not quite what I was hoping though. The discrepancy from book value was substantial. I guess the question, though, is how long it will take to close that gap @1.5%?
Just reading tea leaves but POG has increased,. And there was this last month:

Probably dreaming, but it would be huge.
Shared infrastructure on a Snowfield/KSM project?
How about a JV with Seabridge?
Happy to see this is happening as i hoped. Combined with increased volume permitting should really improve the numbers next yesr.
It's amazing to me that its legal to profit from slander.
I've been too busy to pour over the numbers yet, and appreciate your thoughts. With this mine deep in the ground there should be no real impact of the cold season, right? If just lower grades, I guess the question is whether will be chronic or temporary.
I got to that point a couple of weeks ago, too. My boat is loaded as I've been lurking and accumulating for some time. My first shares were @ $3.79(if memory serves), and I think you were here for some time already. I really appreciate your posts.
My current thinking is that my likely horizon to hold here is about 1.5-2 more years or so, though this could change drastically with major resource improvements, POG increases, etc. Any thoughts on that horizon?
Ditto. I've been adding on dips every chance I get, selling off other investments, etc. Added this morning, and still hope for one more but next week. Way overweight but feeling it's right.
Well played...really enjoyed this post on a couple of levels and needed a laugh, too. Thanks. The old "lies, damned lies, and statistics" line comes to mind.
Another piece of the puzzle?
Intel teams with Google on smartphone chips
(AFP) – 46 minutes ago
SAN FRANCISCO — Intel on Tuesday announced that it has teamed with Google to tailor chips to get top performance out of smartphones powered by the Internet giant's Android software.
"Our collaboration with Google will bring a powerful new capability to market that helps accelerate industry innovation, adoption and choice," Intel chief executive Paul Otellini said at the opening of the US chip maker's developers conference in San Francisco.
"I'm excited by the possibilities of this collaboration," he continued. "It will enable our customers to bring exciting new products and user experiences to market that harness the combined potential of Intel architecture and the Android platform."
The alliance with the world's largest computer chip maker came as Google ramped up its push into the hot smartphone market with a deal to buy Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion.
Illinois-based Motorola Mobility makes mobile phones, tablet computers and TV set-top boxes -- areas where the Silicon Valley-based Google has no experience other than writing the software to power the devices.
Smartphones powered by Google's free Android mobile software have been soaring in popularity and become targets of patent lawsuits by iPhone maker Apple.
The joint effort by Google and Intel is aimed at quickly bringing to market a family of Atom processors that will drive Android smartphones, according to Otellini.
"Combining Android with Intel's low power smartphone roadmap opens up more opportunity for innovation and choice," said Google Mobile senior vice president Andy Rubin. "This collaboration will drive the Android ecosystem forward."
The two northern California technology titans have a history of working together to harmonize chips and software on projects including Google TV and

IMO, you are missing a potentially major player here:
Intel
There may be some fire behind the smoke of the Q rumors, and Intel is the best spark I can imagine.
I agree, and I know there have been a lot of Jobs naysayers out there but just take a look at this pretty picture:
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/07/27/apple_has_greatest_cash_pile_among_us_businesses.html
Not sure how anyone could argue with that...anyway, I wouldn't mind if they started making some more well targeted strategic acquisitions to start unleashing some of that horde of cash...

Thank you for sharing your analysis as well as that of drtl -- exactly the kind of input I am seeking. I could be wrong, but I sense there may be even more value now when viewed from the strategic standpoint of the acquirer, as long as the seller plays the appropriate hardball. Beyond the competition of the potential (cash rich) suitors, is the fact that this is a profitable company that doesn't even need to strike any deal unless it is just too attractive to pursue business as usual. Lots of leverage, it seems to me.
Time will tell, of course, and these are certainly interesting times!
First of all, it's been a really long time since I posted, but I've been lurking and accumulating all along, with some life changes that have kept me rather busy. Congrats to all the board veterans, and glad to see so many still around. For a long time, I felt like we were swimming upstream, but kept the faith that it would change eventually. Now, I feel like we are riding a huge wave resulting from the perfect storm (that's been brewing steadily, but exploded with Nortel), and welcome the BOD's recent direction to hop directly on that wave.
Now, dndood, you hint at what is to me the most interesting question right now. Given the market value that was placed upon the Nortel patents, and given that Google is even hungrier now, and given that Apple and others are hungry to stymy Google again: what is the new reasonable market value for IDCC?
Forgive me if anyone has taken a shot at this question already, but I couldn't find anything and would love to see any thoughts on it. Thought I cannot even begin to quantify, it seems to me that IDCC is sitting in the driver's seat and should be worth considerably more. And if so, how much more?
Best luck and results to all. Enjoy the ride. We've earned it. It's our time.
What a freakin' beautiful chart today! I really hope it's a leak, but it smells more like a year-end strategic move by someone of import to me. All-in here, happy holidays and all the best to the usual suspects. Whether it's tomorrow or a few more days, I think it's finally our time to start a real run.
Wow. Thought maybe I had a couple of minutes to check up on posts and well, I just cannot believe all the frickin' bickering right now. Pros, negs, pumpers, blamers, on and on and on...
Danny, good post on your part, sir. So many want someone to blame these days. Beyond what you say, I believe the bottom line here is that much will be revealed in a short time and much of this speculation will soon become pointless.
Stay tuned, just a little bit longer folks. Myself, I have taken this opportunity to add some leverage. Do whatever you see fit, and place your bets. It's time.
If it goes down to the wire on Tuesday, are we necessarily going to know the ruling that day? Is it public? Or, might we have to wait for filings?
My apologies in advance as this is probably a dumb question or has been covered, but I just cannot keep up anymore. Thanks and GLTA longs.
Could be a V E R Y big day today. All the best to those who have held on soooo long.
No time to keep up anymore, but still long and strong as ever here. I guess we finally got some good news x 2 today, eh? Congrats folks. Hopefully, these first downs will help drive us to the goal line soon.
OT plumear, I think you are just a little off, but I agree in spirit. IMO, congress largely just serves the special interests and lobbies in order to raise the funds and votes needed to get re-elected and continue their power. Its really the lobbies that determine much of the policy direction, and that's also where the real profit comes in -- for the lobbyists and even more so for those they serve.
Solutions? Well, that's a rant for another day. Y'all have a great weekend.
I was thinking similarly and spent an evening looking at some of the antitrust acts and case law, and got a big headache by the time I reached New Wrinkle. It appears to be a very complex area subject to considerable debate, but I think I can safely state the following: Generally speaking, patent pooling and royalty fixing is seen in much different and more favorable light than price fixing of a downstream product or service.
Would also be interested to hear comments from anyone knowledgable in this area, though.
Andrew, early adopters, yes. Regarding the consumer world, in particular the younger market, I think Apple is brilliantly positioned for growth. Massive synergies abound with existing markets and applications, their image is perfect for that audience, and they can market to a large base of existing customers -- many of whom are already "iEvangelists" as you alluded. They seem to be suddenly well positioned for international growth as well.
Regarding RIMM, perhaps you were a little tough on them: keep in mind consumers were never their core, though it has been an important growth segment for them lately. Yes, I expect Apple will limit their growth in that segment. Ultimately, I think it points to historical status quo -- these two companies always have been, and probably always will be, two very different animals. Apple will never compete seriously in the corporate world with RIMM, though they will likely grab a very good chunk of the consumer smart phone business. At best, Apple may get some small business adoption. In other words, think of one of those circle diagrams where the circles only overlap a relatively small amount and will likely continue to do so even as the circles grow.
As an aside, I strongly believe MS will eventually threaten or buy RIMM's corporate business, though others could well come into play with M&A, as friends or foes. Apple will be Apple as long as Jobs is breathing.
All IMO, of course. It will all be fun to watch. Enjoy the show as well as the crumbs.
