Good advice! Not that I haven't donated to a few stock "charities" in the past.
I know UNDR is pink so everything is unaudited, but I saw some filings from 2010. Do you know if they've filed any more recent balance sheets?
Thanks for the input. Call me super cautious but while I've called IRs of other companies in the past, their job is usually to make the company seem as positive as possible. I just don't find them to be a reliable source of what's truly going on within the company.
You mentioned a new transfer agent. By any chance would you have the most recent share numbers? If not, could you give me their name and/or number and I can make the call?
Thanks again for your help.
That doesn't sound like a good prognosis for UNDR. I'm assuming most of its money is made through promotions? I love the idea of bringing up underwater treasure, it sounds mysterious and exciting. However I don't like the idea of donating to a ceo's lifestyle. I'll keep it on my radar but for now it looks like it may be in the midst of a pre-promotion and you know how those usually end.
Thanks for answering my questions.
It can be a bit boring on low volume days, but although It's a slow mover (at least historically), its difficult to pass up a 16% dividend yield.
I hope I didn't miss you, Hak. I just wanted to let you know that when I initially posted here, you said you hoped BCSI wasn't bought out although you were sure they were a buyout candidate for several companies. Well, you were right (nothing unusual there). Now I've heard through the grapevine that as of yesterday they are shutting down offices and laying off 100's, maybe 1000's, of employees. Thats the most unfortunate result and a very sad sign of our times :(
I hope to see you around ihub, it's been great posting with you. We had a great run!
Do you know if this company has any ships or the necessary diving permits? I've been reading and it appears that UNDR is missing some of the basic requirements.
Thanks a bunch for ACAS, Hak....it's had a wonderful week, as I'm sure you're aware. I never would have seen it without you! I also bought a little AEZS today which is due this quarter to receive the results of their phase 3 clinical trials of perifosine, an oral anti-cancer drug. Keeping my fingers crossed with that one.
Thanks again...have a fantastic weekend and stay warm!
Thank you for the ideas, Hak. I like the ACAS chart...do you know why it fell from the $10.50 range? I read an article that said they may resume dividend payments by the end of this year; that plus the buy back certainly makes it attractive.
I'm with you on the tradeability of pinks and otcbb. They've been ruined by the highly questionable promotions, plus I've found the management of most of them to be nothing more than current day Charles Ponzi wannabes. I'm still stuck in one and have avowed to steer clear of them in the future. DNDN had a big payday recently when they reported good earnings; a nice start to 2012 :)
Happy New Year, HAK! All is good here and hopefully we'll see a "January Effect" in the markets. BCSI has been holding, hopefully everything is going smooth with the buy out.
Hope life (and trading) is excellent for you throughout this new year.
Holy cow, who would have thought an acquisition would be announced right before Christmas?! I'm still shocked but very happy with my profits. Now I wish I could have back those shares I sold when the last earnings were released! lol...but a profit is a profit is......
I hope the holidays are going great for you, Hak!
That's good news, I see they updated the officers as well.
Yes, 'bout time for sure! What a pleasant little surprise. I joined in today's conference call and pretty much liked what I heard. Although I did sell 1/2 of my position today in afterhours; it was just too good of a move to pass up. But if BCSI takes any dips, I'll add. Congrats to everyone; I hope there will be more to come as we move toward 2012.
By the way, I totally agree with you about our politicians. There's so much to question and be disappointed about. The insider trading issue is insulting and IMO should be banned. I don't want my congressman or senator to receive extra compensation for doing their jobs.
I'm headed out of town to spend Thanksgiving with friends and family. I hope you and your precious little dachshund have a wonderful holiday! Stay warm, stay safe, and I'll check back in a couple weeks!
Good morning, Hak.....I agree with your comments about the market and politics. It's disheartening most days to see the markets so incredibly volatile. BCSI has been on a roller-coaster like no other. Can't wait to see their earnings next week; please let them be decent! Some of the stocks I'm holding have 10% swings for no other reason (that I can find) than market conditions. As for politicians, well, they are out in masses since we'll be voting next year. I've been watching the debates and my opinion of the Republican candidates changes from week to week. It's fairly early though. Every candidate appears to be self destructing, one by one. In fact, we seem to be in global melt down mode...I just read that Italy might need to exit the Eurozone and revert to their own currency. What's next? At least with hopes for new leaders in both Italy and Greece, our markets should be green today. I hope.
Have a wonderful weekend, Hak... TGIF!
Welcome back! Finally it's fall and finally BCSI is climbing back in the $15's....'bout time. Now if we can just hold there until the next move upward. Those $13's are hard to watch.
Thank goodness he stayed quiet for a change! lol
I'm happy to hear you and your co-pilot are enjoying yourselves. There's a lot to do in Big D; I have no doubt you'll have a wonderful time! They have a zero gravity amusement park that's crazy (but a blast!) if you're in the mood.
Stay safe out there and pray for rain.
Thank you for the tips... I hope you have a wonderful and peaceful vacation/road trip. Not sure where you live but I hope you're able to avoid the fire stricken, drought prone states.
See you back soon...be safe & take care.
Good morning, and thanks for your insight. I"m a little late responding since I've had the opportunity to travel a little bit lately and haven't been at my computer. I did get back in time to see our BCSI almost hit $17... wish it could have held that upward drive. Now we're back to $15ish....again. I'm still holding but I wish I'd had the nerve to sell in the 16's and buy it back on this dip to improve my average.
I can't believe summer is over; I hope Friday's 300 point drop isn't indicative of things to come.
On a sidenote, have you been watching the republican debates? It looks to be shaping up into a 2 man race as to who will run against Obama.
I hope you have a happy wonderful weekend!
Hi HAK! Wow, blue coat has been all over the map this last week. What do you think of the rumor that BSCI might be entertaining buyout offers, and that Cisco might be in the market? Do you think that's a viable option? I read the buyout valuation was between $16.00 - $18.50.
I also saw where a shareholder has filed suit against them for issuing misleading info. How did things go from SO quiet and profitable to chaos seemingly overnight?
Don't remember ever seeing more chaos in the form of a publicly traded company. I understand the senior VP of international sales got the ax today too. I don't know much about the new CEO; do you have any info on him? I averaged WAY down today...hope I didn't throw good money after bad.
It sounds like you had a fabulous 4th! My nephew has a puppy sort of like your cute dog; a chiweenie...he's the sweetest little dog and so bright.
Thanks for the suggestions, I've been looking for opportunities but it's been so slow. I should have followed the saying, "go away in May". lol...I'm not really fond of playing the pumped up pinks, but that's where I've made a little money lately. It's scary though when everyone starts dumping.
I played COIN last week, that was a great mover.....if I could just find more like that one.
Meanwhile I'll be keeping the faith! I hope you have a wonderful week!
I'm a little late to the party, but I hope you had a fabulous Independence Day!
I don't know what to think about BCSI, it just can't seem to get any traction although it bucked the trend on Friday and had a good day. I feel as though I should average down but I'm holding off for now. Meanwhile, I played a couple of pink sheet no fundamentals stocks and made a great profit, while BCSI has solid fundamentals but can't seem to get out of it's own way. I'm in for longterm though so I guess I should quit complaining. lol
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank You and Happy Memorial Day back to you! Please be safe!
Did you get a chance to listen to the CC last Thursday? Borman sounded a bit lackluster when he said we would "maintain". I tried averging down in afterhours but it never hit my buy order and I got left behind. What's your take? Do you believe they'll pull this out? This weakness surely makes them a bigger buyout target.
Good morning, HAK! Thank you regarding FNSR! I've been mostly disgusted with it since the day I bought it. lol...
I (like you) prefer that BCSI is not acquired. Have you set a target price for your shares?
I certainly hope we see a positive reaction to the news that our military has finally taken down Bin Laden. Bless those who risked their lives to bring justice.
This past week was most promising for BCSI...I hope May turns out to be a good one for us. Even my FNSR had a good week (for a change).
Thanks MB! I got distracted today doing my income tax. I always try to get on it early in the year but somehow I put it off until the last minute :(
Great call, MB! What do you think is in store for us today?
Thanks, Tex! I was as shocked as anyone....but happy :)
Looks like it's headed that direction, especially after a 100% gain over the last year.
You were right...FNSR is up nicely this week :)
What a beautiful chart....thank you for bringing VHC to my attention!
Just added it to my trading platform :)
Thank you, Mt! When I first looked at the PE of BEXP, it almost scared me off...but it's consistently beat the street so I'm happy I stuck around :)
My "albatross" stock, FNSR, is actually going the right direction today.
Have a great day!
Hi HAK... You and I are on the same page except I'd add a few more names to the safari list ;)
Congrats on NBRI...sounds like that was a great move...I hope it continues to give!
I agree with you about day trading as well...there's money to be made but it's all so manipulated (even on this site) and it's too easy to overstay your welcome. I have to say I'm occasionally tempted so I jump in. But I'm out quickly, often leaving money on the table simply because I'm anxious to lock in a profit.
I sold MSSR today after Tilman Fertitta made an all cash offer of $9.25. He was already a 10% owner... His plan is to take the company private. He's been quite successful in the food service industry so I have no doubt he'll succeed in acquiring the company...but for now, I'm out.
I've been watching TBT, but I'm still on the sidelines for now.
Good Morning, HAK. It's hard to imagine the numbers continue to grow, especially considering how high unemployment is, how weak the economy, and of course, the deficit. It's weird how the market indices rise higher but all on low volume. Something just doesn't feel right and I wonder if this pattern will continue or are we looking at a large sell-off this summer or fall.
Did I mention how much I dislike FNSR? lol...I'm hanging in there and I'm even a tiny bit green, but it's been a roller coaster.
Overall I'm happy with BCSI, KERX, and BEXP...although I'm selling 1/2 of BEXP just because of the old saying, "what goes up, must come down". It's been a great ride though.
I've played a couple of pinks, but I've only traded them as day trades.
Best of luck today!
FADS..lol, I love it!
Congrats on FTK...what a nice gain to end the week :)
Looking forward to this upcoming week!
FNSR was looking good until yesterday but I'm not ready to bail yet. I was a bit surprised by the dip in our BCSI especially since the overall markets were up ( finally!).
It's already the weekend...this week flew by :)
lol, I've been there...
Best of luck to you as well!
I averaged down today, bringing my average to just under $23. Time will tell if it turns out to be a good move.
We're going against the overall market today, which is fine by me! I was happy to see it climb over the $28 mark.
FNSR continues to be a pain but I averaged down today, bringing my average down to just below $23. Hopefully they're out of bad news and will have something nice to tell us soon.
Looks like we closed the trading week on a positive note & in the GREEN! Let's hope next week brings some upward movement as well.
I made a misstep this past week and bought FNSR at what I thought was a bottom (24.00), just to see it slide further downhill :(... I've got to make a decision if I want to average down or sell and take my losses.
It's gorgeous weather here so I'm off to take in the sunshine...have a wonderful weekend, HAK!
I've read about BCSI being a possible M&A candidate for GRMN and WBSN, plus McAfee. Do you think any of those could be a possibility?
Happy Friday, Hak!
