Crazy. It was same across the board depending on the pair. What setup are you using right now? 20 pips is nice.
Jeez, what just happened to the AUD. Just tanked like crazy on all pairs.
N/M -- figured it out. Go to user preferences and click ignore weekend data.
Thanks for the help SG. I've been trying to figure out OANDA. I've been using FXCM with success but the indicators seem to be more user friendly on OANDA. The one thing I'm having trouble with is eliminating the weekend gap. On FXCM its all streamlined and there is no gap when no trading has occurred. Do you know how to change this on OANDA so that the candles are all together and not spread apart?
Thanks
Hey SG, do you know if there is anyway to save different setups in OANDA so that you can toggle to different setups for different scenarios?
playing the trading range...bought @ 1.29399 and sold at top of bollie. Then waited for a red candle and signal from CCI to short. Now its dropping like a rock. So far made about 1k in 40 min of trading. Add in last night's $500 and that's not bad. Too bad I'm still on demo....
Gotcha. Which do you like better? I see no problems with FXCM but peeps on this board seem to like Oanda better.
I like that. Why do you use two brokers? I'm still trying to figure out what indicators I like best. Now I'm just going off SMAs and reading the charts for trendlines, resistance/support zones, and chart patterns.
After I made that post the bottom dropped out...up $450 right now. Looking for 1.293s
I like that setup. I did a short-term review of the charts, as well as long term to see the trend, and on the 15-min chart there is a nice trend line setting up with at least two touches. Shorted EUR/USD below. Looking for a trend line touch before covering and going long. So far so good.
you make trades on 1 min or 5 min...or you look at both?
jeeesz. how many pips?
Similar to the way the ADX and PPO pinch. What is the significance of the the base and quote currency meeting at the extremes? I'm trying to tie it into the analogy of stock pinch which hints at an explosion up in price.
Ah very nice. The makeshift will do. So you don't really rely too much on the single indexes themselves.
Question for the board, SG, or whomever wants to answer...When trading a pair such as the EUR/USD, for example, you are hoping that the euro strengthens and the dollar weakens. How much do you rely on individual charts for the $USD and the $XEU as opposed to actual charts of the pair itself?
I ask this because stockcharts doesn't chart the pairs, but does have the euro and usd charted.
Thanks.
That's a bad cross...you want to see the opposite for a bullish signal. A 12/26 cross down (the 12 curving up) is bearish.
I have the link...thanks anyways. I think I'm going to demo first to get the hang of it and then start playing foreal.
No worries man. Looks pretty similar to trading stocks. Just different terminology and setups. Also seems like a good place to build a small account.
Good luck trading...
thanks man. Will do.
Definitely looks like a possible bounce ahead, but similar reversal candles appeared on the 11th and 13th. PPO and ADX are more extreme now though. Should be interesting.
Hey guys, been lurking for a while here and educating myself in FOREX. Question...do you use the same TA for forex as you would for regular stocks?
BNPD will give you an excellent example of a double top.
Blew through resistance at 8050. This is a great day trading market. SSO up almost 12% today.
Ah man. I wish I had shorted the gap on C. Was thinking it might rally after bottoming out at 3.05, which it did up to 4...but didn't have the guts to buy in. Its trading sideways now. Nice bull rally after breaking past 7720. Still a bear's market...guilty until proven innocent.
Today was a good day to day trade. Bought GS when it hit the bottom of the bollie at 48 this afternoon and its currently rallying up to 52. Looking to see if it can break intraday resistance at 53.63.
Monday should be interesting.
Thank god for editing. Nice to see it punch through. Been following the 3-min chart all day. It tried in the morning, afternoon, and just now. Be nice to see it hold and test the next level of resistance at 7850ish.
Dow can't break through 7720 today. Tried three times and topped out. Scratch that...just broke through on third attempt. See if it can hold support here.
Well, there's the 2s. Chart's set up nicely for a double bottom. Stock will die w/o PRs. Can't expect much anytime soon.
Just not enough volume to get this thing going again...People have moved on to other MOMO stocks. For now this one is dormant.
Yeah I think people were expecting more in the way of net income. Seems as if the advertising costs are through the roof. Still holding solid at 29/30 support. I don't see it as being broken quite yet as you do. Some strong buying today at the support levels. A close at 27/28 would be disastrous and potentially a sign of things to come. Hopefully we can hold these levels and slowly inch up as the market inches itself back up.
Nite's not on the Ask until 15...
October...more than a month ago...
Another test today at the trip bottom support point of 29/30. Held strong. Lets see what they say in the CC...
Gotta advertise to get your product to sell is what their answer will be...

8:45a ET November 18, 2008 (Business Wire)
Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. (AMEX/TSX: MCZ): Conference Call: Today, November 18th, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. ET Dial-in numbers: 212/231-2905 (U.S. & International) Webcast: www.madcatz.com (Select "Investors") Replay Information: See release text
Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. ("Mad Catz" or "the Company") (AMEX/TSX: MCZ), a leading third-party interactive entertainment accessory provider, today announced financial results for the fiscal 2009 second quarter ended September 30, 2008.
Mad Catz reported net sales for the fiscal second quarter ended September 30, 2008 of $25.8 million, a 52.8% increase from $16.9 million in the fiscal 2008 second quarter. Gross profit for the quarter rose 55.9% to $7.7 million, from $5.0 million in the fiscal 2008 second quarter. Gross profit margin for the second quarter of fiscal 2009 increased by 60 basis points to 30.0% compared to 29.4% in the prior year period. Net loss for the quarter ended September 30, 2008 was $1.2 million, or a loss of $0.02 per diluted share, compared to net income of $0.9 million, or $0.02 per diluted share, for the second quarter of fiscal 2008. EBITDA, a non-GAAP measure (defined as earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization), was $0.2 million in the fiscal 2009 second quarter, compared to EBITDA of $2.0 million in the fiscal 2008 second quarter. A reconciliation of EBITDA to the Company's net income is included in the financial tables accompanying this release.
Selling, general and administrative expenses totaled $7.5 million, or 29.0% of net sales, compared with $3.4 million, or 20.3% of net sales, in the prior year period. Research and development expenses increased to $0.5 million during the second quarter of fiscal 2009 compared with $0.3 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2008. The loss before income taxes for the quarter ended September 30, 2008 was $1.4 million, as compared to a gain before income taxes of $1.5 million in the prior year second quarter.
During the second quarter ended September 30, 2008, the Company discovered errors related to elimination of intercompany profit in inventory in prior reported periods. As a result, the Company's cost of sales balance was understated by $304 thousand for the year ended March 31, 2008 and $56 thousand for the quarter ended June 30, 2008, and the Company's net income, after tax, was overstated by $165 thousand for the year ended March 31, 2008 and $34 thousand for the quarter ended June 30, 2008. In accordance with Staff Accounting Bulletin (SAB) No.99, Materiality, and No.108, Considering the Effects of Prior Year Misstatements when Quantifying Misstatements in Current Year Financial Statements, management evaluated the materiality of the errors from qualitative and quantitative perspectives, and concluded that the errors were immaterial to all periods impacted. Accordingly, during the quarter ended September 30, 2008, the Company corrected the error which resulted in $360 thousand of cost of sales recorded related to prior periods.
Fiscal 2009 Second Quarter and Recent Highlights:
-- Generated second quarter net sales of $25.8 million, representing a 53% year-over-year increase;
-- Generated record second quarter gross profit of $7.7 million and gross profit margin of 30.0%;

Commenting on the results, Darren Richardson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz, stated, "Mad Catz grew fiscal second quarter net sales by over 50% and posted record second quarter gross profits and gross profit margins. These improvements reflect the benefit of the Saitek and Joytech acquisitions as well as sales growth in Mad Catz' core accessory offerings. In addition, the Company's further product line diversification, including significant expansion of our portfolio of high profile brand licenses and increased international market penetration, has positioned Mad Catz with the broadest suite of interactive entertainment product lines in its history while reducing its reliance on the domestic market.
"Sales outside of North America accounted for 43% of total sales in the quarter as compared to 34% in the second quarter of fiscal 2008. This increase reflects the continued strength of Saitek's PC related products throughout Europe and the improved market penetration of core Mad Catz products. Fiscal second quarter results also reflect approximately $1.1 million in sales from other international markets, including the Asia-Pacific region, a market in which we are looking to expand.
"During the fiscal second quarter we generated further momentum on the current generation of consoles, as sales for these consoles surpassed those of the prior generation for the second quarter in a row and represented over 42% of total sales. Our traction on the Wii(TM) continues as sales of our Wii(TM) Fit accessories remain strong. In September we began shipments of our Fender(TM) Precision Bass guitar for the Xbox 360(TM), which we recently supplemented with shipments of our Portable Drum Kit, Cymbals Expansion Pack, premium microphone with integrated controller (M.I.C.) and Triple Tree Guitar Stand. Importantly, we recently announced a license agreement with Nintendo to bring this line of premium Rock Band products to the popular Wii(TM) system.
"Fiscal second quarter operating costs also increased meaningfully from the prior year period based partially on: co-op advertising costs related to the higher level of net sales; increased staff in sales/marketing, G&A and R&D and a significant rise in amortization of intangible assets related to last year's acquisitions. During the quarter, we merged two more of the Saitek's legal entities into the Mad Catz organizational structure, which furthers our efforts to streamline our global accounting and other operating processes. Going forward, seeking additional operating cost efficiencies remains a high priority."
Mr. Richardson concluded, "While there is still progress to be made to improve our SG&A cost structure, and undoubtedly the overall outlook for consumer spending is concerning, we remain firmly committed to leverage our strong product portfolio and global distribution network to continue to grow revenue, earnings, cash flow and shareholder value."
The Company will host a conference call and simultaneous webcast on November 18, 2008, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Following its completion, a replay of the call can be accessed for 30 days at the Company's Web site (www.madcatz.com, select "Investors") or for 7 days via telephone at 800/633-8284 (reservation #21399869) or, for International callers, at 402/977-9140.

In addition, these non-GAAP measures have limitations in that they do not reflect all of the amounts associated with the Company's results of operations as determined in accordance with GAAP. Mad Catz believes that certain non-GAAP financial measures, when taken together with the corresponding GAAP financial measures, provide meaningful supplemental information regarding the Company's performance by excluding certain items that may not be indicative of the Company's core business, operating results or future outlook. EBITDA represents net income (loss) plus interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization. EBITDA is not intended to represent cash flows for the period, nor is it being presented as an alternative to operating income or net income as an indicator of operating performance and should not be considered in isolation or as a substitute for measures of performance prepared in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States. As defined, EBITDA is not necessarily comparable to other similarly titled captions of other companies due to potential inconsistencies in the method of calculation. We believe, however, that in addition to the operating performance measures found in our financial statements, EBITDA is a useful financial performance measurement for assessing our Company's operating performance. Our management uses EBITDA as a measurement of operating performance in comparing our performance on a consistent basis over prior periods, as it removes from operating results the impact of our capital structure, including the interest expense resulting from our outstanding debt, and our asset base, including depreciation and amortization of some of our assets.

It's been PR'ed that they wanted to uplist. Nothing further has taken place though.
Weird PM L2 action. Nite's off the ask and bid and the spread is 2 x 5. We'll see if it holds up once the market opens.
Do yourself a favor and read up in the IBOX who these "dopes" are. I think you will be impressed with what they have done with similar companies in the past. While I agree this does not give them a blank card to sit idly on their hands, this is not a quick pump and dump scheme and is more an intermediate-hold penny play.
Thanks. I hate holding stocks through earnings. I'm expecting decent numbers. If anything, we have to hold support above 30 tomorrow.
Won't be able to listen...at work...fill me in on the details if you don't mind.
Maybe, it tried pretty hard on two occasions to break and hold above 27. After its second failure its now ticked down to 21. Need some serious momentum to break 27.
