Robert Putnam is the Senior Vice President. And although he is responsible for overseeing investor relations and interfacing with the investment community, it would seem reasonable to consider that he is adding to his staff to help handle the much anticipated NEWS of new business at EDIG and the interest it will generate within the investment community.
ECLIPSE, WIRELESS, IFE are three new business arenas that have yet to have much press. Some or all are suppose to come online starting early this summer. The timing of this new hire is consistent with the projections of NEWS of new products coming from EDIG's partners.
***************************************************************
Mr. Putnam joined the Company soon after its inception in 1988. He was made Senior Vice President and appointed as Director of the Company in 1995. Mr. Putnam is responsible for e.Digital's investor relations and interface with the investment community. He received a B.A. degree in Mass Communications from Brigham Young University in 1983.
EDIG's second new hire ad this month is encouraging, especially considering they have spent the last two quarters cleaning house and reducing costs.
Seems like things may just be turning around.
Needing both a software engineer and a PR Corporate Communications /PR Specialist indicates NEWS of continued developments is coming, IMO.
Job Duties:
Prepare and disseminate information regarding company and its products through news wires, newspapers, periodicals, television, radio, and other forms of media. Follow up with editors, writers, producers, or others to maximize coverage of news about company and/or its products. Prepare and manage media review program for new consumer electronics products. Coordinate contents of company web sites. Coordinate press release content and timing with industry partners. Create, edit, and maintain product and corporate marketing materials. Provide support for investor relations department, including quarterly and annual IR events.

The move from .20 to 3.73 took just 15 days. Few thought it possible then and few think it's possible now. Not saying we are going there anytime soon, but certainly not saying it won't happen either...that's for the market to decide. Those who were certain their analysis was correct missed out on a big opportunity. This news drought is moving into a period in the company's history where they have several revenue producing projects about to surface. Should be interesing.

Twomil, the good news is everyone has her number.
The endless spin from the negative camp cannot negate success in the market place.
With ECLIPSE coming online this summer, the O-1000 on target to hit the goal of 2000 units/month by this summer, and IFE and Wireless nearing completion, investors can come to expect a growing revenue stream based on a more diverse product line.
What other projects are in the works NOW of which we have yet to hear ?
I am expecting MORE.

A bit confused about your apology regarding misspelling vicodin when it appeared in MH's post.
Did I miss something ?
friendlyfred = murrayhill ? Vicodin overdose ?
OT: murrayhill: Vicodin
Cass, you would have told him that in '99 too. This remains about EDIG making one or more of these potentially high profile markets real.
ECLIPSE, WIRELESS, IFE or the Odyssey 1000, any of which could gain traction at anytime.
This is not a one trick pony. A major airline, HP, Fujitsu-Ten, among others, are involved in new products and market applications.
You seem to forget that and keep repeating yourself about past performance, ignoring that EDIG survived the BEAR.
How are Enron, Kmart, sblu, among others, fairing ???
I bet you would have bought any or all of those before EDIG.
Have you figured out it's not an exact science yet ?

Cass, if you had loaded up in the pennies, than price points of $1, $3, $5,$10, on the way up OR down would have given you similar results.
That's the point...which you choose to miss, not my personal account.
A similar opportunity exists today. Although we all know previous results are not necessarily indicative of future performance, we are near the lows with news coming of new products entering new markets with new partners.
You like to harp on investors results to continue your negative slant while INVESTORS focus on the future...which is where opportunity lies.
I'm not sure one can draw a conclusion regarding IFE and ECLIPSE based on the past year's efforts with MP3 players. These are different partners, product and markets.
And one other thing, I'm still a buyer here.
You mean Apple doesn't have the market cornered ?
"The move allows Roxio to mount a direct challenge to other entrants to the online music market. Earlier this month, Apple Computer (AAPL: news, chart, profile) launched its ITunes service, which sold more than 2 million songs in its first two weeks in business."
These continue to be growing markets. Unlike the dot-com failures, online music and HDD MP3 players continue to attract investment dollars, as witnessed by Roxio's play today on Pressplay and Apple's big marketing campaign with their ipod, as these are real industries capable of generating real dollars for investors.
BMP, then WHY do you make ridiculous claims that EDIG failed if you already know the product is on its way to market this summer and have confirmed that for yourself ?
Cas, you've been spending your life advocating that it isn't a good investment at any time.
My investment horizon has never been short term, yet I was faced with phenomenal gains for well over two years because I was not afraid to invest LOW, in size, and then dabble from there.
I invest in the company's future and not the daily PPS, hence the multiple price points.
Are you correct 100% of the time ? When you are correct, do you make any money ?
Were you positioned for gains over 1000%, 10000%, 20000% or 35000% at ANY TIME in the past few years ?
This is far from being over, in fact this may just be their best fiscal year yet while we see the technology continue to find new markets.
BMP, seeing this market begin to open up is interpreted by you as EDIG missing the boat while someone else runs away with it.
Hardly the case at this moment in time.
While interpretation like that may be the perception today, it will again change, as Fujitsu-Ten enters this growth market with EDIG inside.
BMP, No failure here. Fujitsu-Ten is coming to market with this product.
From the FAQ page:
"Q: When will the Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten product go on sale?
A: The timing of retail availability will be announced by Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten.
"The Strategis Group, a research firm, predicts that 84 percent of new cars sold in 2004 will feature some form of telematics equipment, and Forrester Research estimates that telematics will become a $20 billion industry worldwide by 2006."
As I recall, there are approximately 400,000 ECLIPSE units already in consumers hands, which all can be upgraded with the new ECLIPSE unit coming out this summer. I believe the first order is for 4000 units and a doubling of that order is expected. (couldn't find the blurb stating the size of the ECLIPSE existing market...just from memory but would appreciate anyone who has that info at their fingertips to post it) TIA
It appears there is lots of room for growth in the after market as well as the potential for factory installed units down the road.
And for 20 cents...
Fujitsu-Ten already has an existing customer base for their new product, ECLIPSE.
I don't know if Phatnoise does or doesn't but I think there is enough room for more than one player to exist, obviously, and I like that phatnoise and fujitsu-ten are entering the market in about the same time frame...months apart...it makes the target market that much more real to investors looking for new investment opportunities.
How does one invest in phatnoise's opportunity ?
Investing in EDIG at 20 cents is a way to participate in another growth market opportunity.

So it took phatnoise over a year to get their product out, so what's your point ?
The Fujitsu-Ten product is due out this summer...seems timely enough.
"The special, limited-edition PhatNoise Car Audio System can be purchased online at www.phatnoise.com for $799 and will also be available nationwide through select high performance distributors."
SOUNDS FAMILIAR.

Looks like a growing trend. Glad EDIG has been involved on this front for some time. With NEWS pending on their venture with Fujitsu-Ten and due out this summer, things should continue to improve as the ECLIPSE makes its way into this growing, yet fetal market.
I wonder what a contract like that would mean to an "EDIG" ?
Isn't Fujitsu-Ten partially owned by Toyota ?
What's Toyota's market share as compared with Volkswagen's ?

Cass, based on what you presented, there was no evidence to back up your claims.
As it stands, my post clarified that your assumptions were indeed correct.
My posting of RP's email is the definitive and last word on the subject. The fact that you used old PRs from 1999 and 2000 made we question the validity of your statement.
So the issue as been settled to my satisfaction, however, RP did make the point of first generation products, which indicates that VoiceNAV could later be incorporated should Fujitsu-Ten so desire.
Tinroad, this should make you happy if you're correct about the margins.
Thank you for your e-mail, XXXX. Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten elected not to have VoiceNav(tm) in their first generation product.

moxa, this is fun, talking about multiple products involving EDIG technology, in different market segments.
Earlier I received the email newsletter that led with the e.Digital/Odyssey 1000 review and direct comparison to the ipod and now we are discussing whether or not VoiceNAV, an EDIG/Lucent collaboration, is in a product about to enter the autoinfotainment market shortly.
Can't wait for the IFE and Wireless projects to come online so we can discuss those applications and markets.
Still no word from Robert on the VoiceNAV issue. I will post it as soon as it comes to my attention.
Cass, I think you are posting old info. There is no mention of the The Eclipse MP-3 Changer.
I have yet to see the new product info, which hopefully we will getting soon from either Fujitsu-Ten or The Good Guys.
Haven't heard back yet but here is a response I received the other day regarding info on new products and distribution.
Thank you for your e-mail, XXXX. That information would come from Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten and the Good Guys.

Tenderloin, correct, but the PC Mag mass email Newsletter went out today, which I just received shortly before I posted this.
That email newsletter covers several "stories" of the day. To see them lead their email with the e.Digital/Odyssey 1000 story was a nice surprise.
Mixing it up with the big boys. Good exposure IMO.
Cass, it doesn't say anything to that effect. And I don't know Robert Putnam that well, any more than most others here. My email is in to him right now. You might be right but you have not demostrated it here. If you look there is nothing stating VoiceNAV is no longer being employed and it also states the product was introduced at CES 2002 by BOTH companies. Hope to clear this up one way or the other.
(SAN DIEGO, CA - March 6, 2002) - e.Digital Corporation (OTC: EDIG), a global provider of comprehensive digital product development and designs, announced today that it has signed a development and manufacturing agreement with Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten. Under the agreement, e.Digital will receive non-recurring engineering (NRE) fees for design and development services. Additionally, e.Digital will receive revenues for the manufacture and delivery of Eclipse-branded audio products for the automotive infotainment and telematics market.
Steve Ferguson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing of e.Digital, stated, "We are very excited about this opportunity to design Eclipse-branded products by integrating the latest in automotive infotainment and telematics into a system using our MicroOSTM and other technologies. We are integrating information, communication, and entertainment into a sophisticated, easy-to-use system."
Jim Collier, President and Chief Operating Officer of e.Digital, said, "This agreement represents a key step in our plans to move aggressively into the fast-growing OEM, ODM, and aftermarket automotive telematics industry. It also provides a technology foundation that will accelerate our expansion into what is potentially the fastest growing market since the PC. In addition to technology development e.Digital will design and manufacture these high-end products."
Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten automotive audio and infotainment products and technology received prestigious Audio Sound Grand Prix Awards in 2000 and 2001. Eclipse is the fastest growing brand in the car stereo world.
Both companies unveiled the Eclipse MP-3 Changer at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas early this year. Manufacturing and delivery of products to Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten are planned for the third calendar quarter this year. Eclipse-branded products will be sold to consumers through their established distribution channels.

(LAS VEGAS, NV - January 8, 2002) - e.Digital Corporation (OTC: EDIG), a global provider of comprehensive digital product development and designs, announced that its product lineup at the 2002 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) will include all of its branded digital music players as well as some designs licensed or available for licensing by OEM customers.
The company’s first branded consumer product, the MXPTM 100 digital music and voice player/recorder, will be joined by the new MXP 100 Sport version. MXP 100, with e.Digital’s VoiceNav technology, is the first portable digital product ever equipped with a user-independent speech recognition interface. Users just say the title of their favorite song to navigate through their portable music library. Boasting battery life of over 12 hours per charge, both MXP 100 models support the removable IBM Microdrive, with storage capacities of up to 1 gigabyte (GB), allowing consumers to store up to 32 hours of music and voice in a sleek, ultra-portable design.
e.Digital’s TREÓTM 10, a 10 GB hard-disk-drive (HDD) based portable jukebox holding over 3,000 songs, will be available for hands-on demonstrations. Its Smart Song SelectionTM feature lets user scroll easily through tracks on an easy-to-read, backlit LCD screen while music is playing. With battery life of nearly 10 hours and a stylish brushed aluminum case, TREÓ 10 is the sophisticated digital music fan’s choice to hold and play the music collection of a lifetime.
The Classic XP3 e.Digital-powered jukebox product from Musical Electronics, Ltd., features the ability to encode music directly from any audio source into MP3 files, bypassing the need for a PC to perform digital compression. The Classic XP3 also features a 10 GB capacity HDD, superior sound quality, and support for both MP3 and Windows MediaTM file formats. The Classic XP3 is field upgradeable to support other popular formats as they become available.
e.Digital is scheduled to unveil a new automotive stereo product based on the company’s MicroOSTM 2.0 technology. The compact HDD-based design is the core of a complete, integrated automotive infotainment system developed with Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten and licensed for sale under the Eclipse brand name. Known as the MP-3 Changer, the system uses e.Digital’s VoiceNav speech recognition interface to simplify use and promote safe operation while driving. The MP-3 Changer also introduces the first ever (Patent Pending) Write Behind capability for post signal music/information capture.
DataPlay-enabled digital music players designed by e.Digital will be on display. Various designs compatible with DataPlay’s new 500 MB-capacity removable digital media are available for licensing by OEM customers. One DataPlay-enabled portable music player scheduled to be shown is a joint development between e.Digital and Evolution Technologies and is licensed for sale by MTV: Music Television. It will be unveiled in the Evolution booth #13432 in the MP3 Pavilion during the show.
e.Digital will also be previewing the ultra-compact "Renegade". Designed for retail sale, this tiny-but-powerful MP3 player includes 64 MB of embedded storage capacity and an expandable Multimedia Card slot that can hold up to 128 MB more. Interchangeable rubberized faceplates in up to six different colors will be included, allowing user personalization.
During CES in Las Vegas January 8-11, e.Digital is exhibiting in the Las Vegas Convention Center, South 3-4, booth #13338. Additional demonstrations of e.Digital technology and products are scheduled to take place in technology suites and booths of partners and OEM customers during the week.
Cass, your info was dated 1999/2000...mine was from the CES 2002 PR as follows. Here's the blurb from my earlier post.

That was rather quick of you to find all those links to the ECLIPSE and post your outdated info. You should get paid for your inaccurate posts. lol.
