I think somebody might have posted a google translation before now but it didn't make sense so I asked a colleague to translate, below......
As spider silk is stronger than worm silk, and this material can be used in bulletproof vests, car manufacturing, genetically modified silkworm – spider hybrid silkworm is expected to bring such outstanding result. However, this application has not been allowed in Vietnam because of some reasons.
On Dec 26, the Department of Agriculture - Rural Development (MARD), Lam Dong said: MARD has just given out their official opinions on the proposal of Lam Dong Province People’s Committee in the Letter No. 53 /UBND-NN dated 11/17/2014 addressed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development regarding the suggestion of allowing the province to have the cooperation with a foreign corporation in conducting the rearing of genetically modified silkworm – spider hybrid silkworm. According to the Document No. 10 246 / BNN-CN of MARD, Lam Dong temporarily won’t conduct the project with the reason that we do not have enough capability to manage the livestock which is a strange breed with genetic modification as the spider hybrid silkworm.
Results of a new study
According to a Letter of Proposal of Lam Dong Province, the sericulture of spider hybrid silkworm is a completely new field of agricultural production in Vietnam, and of course in Lam Dong province - one of the key locals of sericulture. According to this document, recently, Kraig Biocraft Laboratores Group (KBL) has raised the issue of cooperation with Lam Dong in carrying out the testing module of spider hybrid silkworm sericulture to take the silk and Lam Dong has agreed with the policy. However, according to the Letter from Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, this program can be stopped.
The Letter of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, addressed that: "The management of genetically modified animals and genetically modified organisms are new areas of the world in general and Vietnam in particular. For genetically modified animals, there are very few policies in the world applied for the assessment of its impact on the environment and biodiversity, largely due to the difficulty in risk management. Currently, in Vietnam, there is no legal framework and incompetent management of this new field. "Thus, in a written response to Lam Dong province, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has requested Lam Dong temporarily not to deploy the collaboration with the KBL Group in implementing the project of genetically modified silkworm sericulture until Vietnam has a legal framework in this field. Notably, this Letter only stated the reason that because Vietnam has no legal framework in this new field, the project should be temporarily not implemented yet but it did not deny this kind of silkworm sericulture with its benefits.
According to the documents of Lam Dong DARD, not only silkworm can have silk but other insects, i.e spiders, also can do. However, up to now, most of the countries in the world only take silkworms for silk production, but no others can "compete" with silkworms. However, according to recent research by scientists around the world, spider is an insect which can produce silk like silkworms and spider silk is very special: The silk has the mechanical strength which is more superior than worm silk, it is used in military technology ( bulletproof vests manufacture), in car manufacturing technology ...
However, according to research by scientists in the world, although there are some outstanding advantages compared with worm silk, it has not been selected in our daily life by these following restrictions: The length of spider silk is usually too short (only about 20 - 30 cm compared with an average of silk yarn of 1,000m); to get spider silk fibers, it is required a special "technology" of separating silk and this work has to be done manually; and finally, breeding spider to take silk is extremely difficult to obtain, and it is totally different from silkworm breeding. It means that it is impossible to breed them into "herd" like silkworms, and the spiders which can produce the best silk eat meat, therefore, it is more difficult to breed those.
The carefulness is necessary?
Based on the studies upon the two species which both release silk, a number of scientists from the University of Wyoming (USA) has conducted a study and succeeded in: Transplanting a series of spider genes into silkworms. The silkworm with spider genes having been transplanted have produced silk whose elastic and strong quality are quite the same with spider silk but its length is similar with worm silk’s.
In other words, to the normal worm, scientists can make it genetically modified so that it can produce silk with protein which is like spider silk and this kind of silk has superior properties compared to conventional silk. With these results, the scientists set expectations towards the future that the world is fully capable of producing an entirely new kind of silk worm with genetic modification with large quantities to produce fabrics with super strength, even for the bulletproof vests manufacture...
According to scientists, the silk from genetically modified silkworms can also be applied in the medical field (wound dressings, artificial tissue frame, artificial tendons, plastic surgery ...) and in many other areas. Based on the findings of scientists from the University of Wyoming (USA), KBL Group has chosen to go to Vietnam and Lam Dong to develop the project. The reason that KBL selected Lam Dong is because this region is considered to be the "capital" of mulberry in the country, local farmers have a lot of experience in sericulture, and it is leading area in the development of high-technological agriculture.
However, as quoted from the saying of a leader from Lam Dong DARD towards the written proposal regarding temporarily not deploying the project of spider hybrid silkworm breeding between Lam Dong with KBL Group that: "Though it is understood that this is possibly a new breakthrough in agriculture, especially in the field of sericulture, law is law; because Vietnam has no legal frame in this total brand new field, we should comply with it. It means that temporarily, it is not possible to implement the project. "
Prior to this decision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, there’s opinion that: Are we missing an opportunity in agricultural development, namely development of sericulture? However, it has been said that such prudence from MARD is essential because the genetic modification still contains itself two sets of conflicting opinions!
Khac Dung / (Lam Dong Paper)
Nah, sounds to me like he's on a buying spree.
I'm not sure 'no communication' is the typical characteristic of a stinky pinky, are you?
Markets open today chaps?
Merry Christmas to all, even mojo!
I don't remember that opinion, maybe I missed it. Would appreciate being shown what I missed. Only 2 posts allowed for me.....
By "some" do you mean "you"?
Only one thing to say,
Touché!
Nobody said it would last forever, least of all me.
I think you may need to do some more reading if you believe Sigma did not provide a service to KBLB. They provided usage of the proprietary technology to KBLB, albeit for a limited time only.
Also, if you truly believe Merck can just retract it at their whim then I believe you underestimate Kim's legal prowess. You can criticise and call Kim for plenty of things that he is yet to deliver on (publicly) but taking lots of time to cover all bases and ensuring the contract seems water tight is not something that Kim can reasonably be criticised for (in fact this very notion is the subject of plenty of people's discontent).
I don't believe for one minute that Merck could walk away from this at their choosing. A fundament part of the takeover will be Merck's obligatory assumption of all Sigma's debts, liabilities & obligations.
Respond away but I'm out of posts....
I think you're getting mixed up carp. What you say is commonplace but that example relates to a company providing a service to Merck/Sigma. Our scenario is Merck/Sigma providing a service to us.
Furthermore there certainly ain't a company abc doing the same thing with Merck. There isn't another company in existence producing what we are producing.......
Will this be our week? :)
Not often it happens due to time difference issues but a nice flip today.......
Before going to sleep I put in a sell order for 200k of which 107k sold almost instantly at the HOD of 0.048.
I then put a buy order in for 132k at the LOD of 0.04 which filled while I was in the land of nod :) (I had a few spare dollars in my account)
Not a big deal but when we hit a $ it'll be enough to buy a car with :)
What pump???? Please be specific, no inuendos, no insinuations, just facts (if you have any) I have no more posts....
Not sure if these have been posted or not but somewhat related!

I think I read in it that they used Piggybac on the worms. I'm sure that's Frasers proprietary method si he must have been involved even if only to pass on his expertise.
Not implying KBLB are involved btw before the onslaught.
Not sure how correct you are or not Chokem however you need to consider the weight of the material. Obviously the weave and thread count of both materials would play a large part.
I've just got into work so have no time for a detailed response but most silk is woven between 6-30 momma which would give a weight of between 21-109g per square yard. A quick look at Kevlar is showing typical weights of around 150-480g per square yard depending on the count. Factor in the fact that our material performs better in many respects and there is an opportunity to reduce the silk thread count/weight further.
In short, a kg of MS will go much further than a kg of Kevlar!
Afraid not Rayo, I thought that initially so I searched in a different browser and exactly the same results.
Just to double check I then used mumofduck's iphone and sure as shizzle, same results. Believe me she ain't ever searched for those terms before!!!
Try it........
This post was delayed because I hit my limit!!
Sorry to burst your bubble too Golf but I'd rather be the one to burst it than leave it to somebody who would do it with glee.
The results were returned simply because they were the pages that had either the word "big" (actually BIGgest) or "red" in the resultant text.
Try adding a Boolean operator in and search for "Big AND red". If any of the WM pages had both "big" and "red" within their text then the results would reflect this, unfortunately this returns no results :(
Hello Col,
I'd love it to be the case too but I have a sneaky suspicion that the reason is simply due to your search term having the word "Red" in them. If you click on the links you will see that there is a supplier called "Red Bud Supply" :(
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. What I did find interesting was when I put "Warwick Mills" into google, the automatic suggestions were "Warwick Mills spider silk" & "Warwick Mills monster silk" :)
Wow, I can't believe I didn't pay attention to the term myself! Kim has definitely not made public anything that fits that description :)
As we have already been named as finalists, I would think you need to knock a year off those dates. So we should know in November if we've won :)
Look forward to the shares in question being in strong hands of people who still hold belief.
Day late!
I think we'll get a PR tomorrow (my today). I hope it's a proper meaty one with something really tangible but if not I think it'll be a knee jerk one to arrest the slide. Either way I think it'll happen.
Still here, still long, still confident, still not worried, still know it's just a question of 'when' not 'if', still not getting impatient (just about!).
GLTA
Lastly I feel bad for silkmaster for selling out now. IMO that will be a move which prompts regret soon enough :(
But you weren't here when JB used to post his takes of woe.
Great post Yankee. Glad you are here
Wondering if this week will be OUR week. I'd love to think so :)
Good post Jay, I'm with you all the way. Metric tons IS big news but I'm not so sure the market will see it that way......
Just telling it how it is, really surprised I didn't get your buy-in!
Night all, off to cry myself to sleep......
Cheers Patrik, good to see you here! Not that it's often enough!!
You want honesty, we all do but at what price???
Your great idea to release everything warts and all has a few issues with it in my eyes. As a company, we currently sell shares for cash. Your 'great' idea is for absolute honesty and for us to PR at the drop of a hat.
Your 'great idea' would likely send the stock price tumbling, not sure how 'agreeable' you would be then??
I'm smart enough to realise that this latest PR has negative implications but I'm grateful that Kim has painted it in a way that means plenty of investors will read it as positive (hence no sudden plummet). I'm smart enough to see that there's negatives but also optimistic enough to see the positive ("yeah we had issues but we've got them sorted and now we are FLYING").
Your suggestion is to announce the negative without announcing the solution in tandem. I'd rather you keep that suggestion locked away as I certainly wouldn't want Kim to take any notice of it.
On a final note, would love it if you humoured me and spent a little time digging on go the magical World Wide Web and find me some PRs from companies that have a completely truthful tone with plenty of negative and not an ounce of positive spin. There's a good reason why you'll have a hard time finding many of those.
It might be 'poundage' but only in your eyes.
Do you know how ridiculous using the term "metric poundages" is???
Are you still asking about metric poundages Floyd? I don't think there's any chance of KBLB ever producing a metric pound tbh.
Very saintly saint!
I almost believed you for a second there!!
Happy Birthday Da King!!!
Ha ha metric pounds again!!
Metric pounds ha ha
I missed that first time round, thanks Floyd!
Wow! That guy has a rather impressive CV. Golden!
About?
:)
Jeez, for somebody who is spouting such business-mind superiority, your arguments are paper thin.
Kim will have the product, period. He'll be the only person in the world with that product. If that's not leverage then I don't know what is!!!!
If somebody like WM doesn't want to pony up to Kim's prices then there are plenty of people who will! Does Kim give you the impression it's all about cash flow?? If so, maybe you have the wrong Kim. As T4O has said, metric tons is the big deal. When we are producing MT, we can send it to anybody they want. THEN we might have a bidding war on our hands.
I mean "business 101", what a cheek!! Your statements imply that cash is all that matters at this point, flat wrong!!
