Not sure how correct you are or not Chokem however you need to consider the weight of the material. Obviously the weave and thread count of both materials would play a large part.

I've just got into work so have no time for a detailed response but most silk is woven between 6-30 momma which would give a weight of between 21-109g per square yard. A quick look at Kevlar is showing typical weights of around 150-480g per square yard depending on the count. Factor in the fact that our material performs better in many respects and there is an opportunity to reduce the silk thread count/weight further.

In short, a kg of MS will go much further than a kg of Kevlar!
