Who touched your Medical Waste today?
July 7th, 2010
In a hospital, you have a little red bag container in a soiled linen closet patiently awaiting for its contents to be dropped off by a nurse, doctor, or environmental services representative. In a busy hospital, and depending on where that closet is located within the hospital, determines how frequently or infrequently the red bag container is gathered and transferred to another container to be moved around the hospital, eventually reaching a pick-up point to exit the hospital for treatment.
So, potentially hazardous waste is essentially housed inside a "sealed" container, is collected and handled multiple times throughout the gathering, collecting, and transporting phase in the medical waste treatment process, and has the potential to be aged by several days or even weeks at a time. Further, assuming this waste is being transported off site to a medical waste treatment facility to be gathered, collected, and transferred one more time, this hazardous waste not only has the potential to be exposed to our environment while on the open roads, but it has the potential to not go through the treatment process at all. Yet, the hospital still has complete responsibility for this waste, as we often see the term cradle-to-grave responsibility being tossed around, no pun intended, and the hospital has responsibility to that waste until it reaches the landfill. This leaves me asking one very important question…
If you, as the hospital, have to assume all of this risk anyway, why not implement a system that requires less gathering, collecting, and transporting, does not require your waste to leave the hospital grounds to be treated, reduces your liability, all the while enhancing your hospitals' green practice and significantly reducing costs?
Literally, this could be a Million Dollar Question over 7-10 years…

I WISH PEOPLE WOULD READ PRIOR POSTS SO AS NOT TO REPOST THE SAME POSTS.
This just proves the point that people do not even read what is going on on this message board.
The new PR was posted this morning, I made a quick summary of key points for those that did not want to read the entire post and now the same PR is posted again.

Q & A with Barnett Medical President & CEO, Brett Espicha
June 29th, 2010
Recently, Brett Espicha, Present & CEO of Barnett Medical, agreed to interview with The MedClean Technologies Marketing Team. Our goal with this interview was to share with everyone the perspective of a buyer of The MedClean System, because aside from being our distribution partner, Barnett Medical is a customer as well. Brett and his team had the opportunity to visit with and learn about several of our competitors (Other on site medical waste treatment companies), ultimately signing agreements to align with MedClean Technologies.
Below is our brief Q & A with Brett Espicha, and I believe it represents our strength as a company to show significant value in our container/mobile delivery, acquisition options, service and marketing support, versatility, and distribution model, all of which are unmatched in our industry.
Q: Brett, can you tell us about being a Distribution Channel of The MedClean System, and tell us about Barnett's recent purchase of a MC4400?
(BE)- We are excited to have joined up with MedClean Technologies to implement this unique distribution model, especially since we are able to target end users directly and speak to them about The MedClean System coming for our own experience with it. We chose to purchase the MC4400 not only because of its versatility, ease of operation, and significant cost savings, but because it is a one touch system which creates a much safer environment of our employees.
Q: What are the states you cover presently with your distributor agreement, and can you give us your thoughts on where we will see Barnett expand to in the near future?
(BE)- Currently under our agreement with MedClean Technologies we service the western United States including California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, and we are expanding to Hawaii. Currently we serve small to large generators for medical waste transportation needs in the Northern California area. With the ability to transport The MedClean System very easily, we will be able to launch this service to Southern California. In the very near future, we are launching an independent medical waste transporters association which will network transporters together in a national alliance creating buying and bidding power, and a national reach with a local flare.
Q: I understand your company spent a significant amount of time researching autoclave technology, and companies like MedClean Technologies. You initially met representatives from MedClean at ASHES 2009. Can you explain to us why you chose to work with MedClean, any differentiating factors, and any thoughts you may have in regards to their (MedClean's) approach?
(BE)- We knew fairly early on that in order to stabilize our costs and assure long term growth we would need to become our own treatment facility. When we looked at several autoclave systems, the features we were looking for were: flexibility to handle the different waste streams, ease of operation, cost saving, and above all, safety. All these needs were met with The MedClean System. Acting as a distributor enabled us to expand our current products and services without requiring a large infusion of capital. MedClean has been very forward thinking in allowing us to create the best cost saving for our customer by allowing them to be in control of their waste streams.

MedClean Marketing Team

Back by popular demand ~ Volume 2 of Who Moved My Medical Waste
The main question "Who Moved My Cheese?" is left unanswered, and the book is often criticized as a patronizing book that educates followers, not leaders: Out of at least three options
1. to search and chase after new cheese
2. to make the cheese yourself
3. to move the cheese away from the refrigerators of others
only the first – and most passive – option is discussed. There are many alternative viewpoints on the Cheese story. I for one, have a Medical Waste Interpretation, which we have all had a little fun with over the past two weeks.
If you would, for a second, humor me one more time; As mentioned in our previous Who Moved My Medical Waste fable, to search and chase after new cheese requires adaptation to ones environment and changing landscape. Relative to Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) and confidential documents, one could say The MedClean System is to hospitals medical waste streams, as the disappearing cheese was to The Cheese Story. When a hospital chooses autoclave technology to treat medical waste and shredder technology to destroy confidential documents, the hospital, for lack of a better word is Chasing after new Cheese.
Let's look at the fabled part of the story that is evidently not looked at. To Make Cheese for yourself means you are probably pretty self-sufficient, still adapting to the changing environment, but self-sufficient nonetheless. Again, The MedClean System is to hospital medical waste, as making your own cheese would be for The Cheese Story. When a hospital chooses to treat three waste streams, on site, with a MedClean System, they are, for a lack of a better word, Making their own Cheese.
Now, this last one gets tricky; To Move Cheese away from the refrigerators of others, perhaps, relative to Regulated Medical Waste (RMW), we need to play with this story a bit. On one side of the table, we have Stericycle, an enormous medical waste hauling company that, for years, has been the refrigerator storing and handling all of the cheese, and on the other end, lil' ole' MedClean Technologies, has been moving the cheese one piece at a time away from it. Hospital Executives are realizing the importance of implementing alternative methods of treating, handling, and disposing of regulated medical waste and destroying confidential documents than their current practice.
NOW is the time to start moving the Cheese away from other refrigerators, make it yourself, and seek out the fresh, clean alternatives.
