Re Q2 NUMBERS......I sincerely believe you guys are setting yourselves up to be disappointed! The problem with your numbers are that it makes a large assumption...that we truly know what the REAL numbers are from Dell. The fact that we received NO major announcement along the lines of the Automaker deal...leads me to believe that we will CONTINUE to make steady but slow PROGRESS!!.......The EXPLOSIVE revenue quarter WILL happen....but we're not there yet...IMHO Expecting between 6.3-6.5 FWIW
Sincerely,
Jas
HATCHET JOB........that's the only description of that article. The title indicates that the listed stocks are in danger of defaulting. In the article, the pathetic excuse of a journalist talks about the series of pps in 2009 while ignoring everything else. WAIT...he wasn't done.....yet...."current ratio.....1.21 an indication that wave systems WOULD be able to pay off current liabilities if they came due using current assets." So....what exactly is Wave in danger of defaulting???? TRULY AMAZING
Sincerely,
Jas
Re Q2 Reveues I haven't had the time lately to participate on this thread...but I was somewhat dismayed that some have been setting the Revenue bar so high that it will be a set up for a let down if the numbers do not meet these lofty expectations. Seven Million for Q2.... in my opinion...is not justified. The only way we could get to that figure is if there has been a dramatic increase in the number of SEDs being ordered through DELL....or....a very large attachment rate increase in regards to ERAS. I do not believe we have seen any indication of either of these situations. Instead...I'm looking for indications for steady progress in the bottom line as well as INCREASES in the SED attachment rate to the total number of laptops Dell sells as well as an increase in the attachment rate for ERAS to the total number of SEDs sold by DELL.. Personally....I'm looking for a number to come in somewhere between 6.3-6.5 million for Q2....fwiw A number less than 6 million would be unacceptable to me!!!

Jas

RE SHORTS...Could someone please explain to me HOW 8 MILLION shares can be covered WITHOUT causing the share price to go up IF there is significant news that hits the wires?? One way for them to cover would be for them to continue to play their games for the next...what...year or so...given our current daily volume The ONLY way to hold the price down would be for them double down. Otherwise...I would appreciate it if someone could explain how they will cover their shorts?
Sincerely,
Jas
Sarayu...There maybe a slight problem with the numbers...it has the number of shorts as ~4.64% of the total float. If their numbers were accurate...shouldn't the numbers be closer to 10-12 %
Sincerely,
Jas
Interesting....Roughly 10% of outstanding shares are short....Roughly 10 % of the shares are locked up in the Russell index funds...and roughly 20-25 million shares are locked up by us wavoids.....Sets up an interesting situation IF we get any significant news.....
Sincerely,
Jas
Matt25.....Nice find. It's about time that the media starts discussing the issue of cyber security as it pertains to our national security. There should never be any reason why a hacker sitting in a country in Sudan using the servers in Russia attacks the electrical grid in the US as was depicted on a CNN special a few months ago. The issue of machine authentication is going to be a key element in the overall strategy of cybersecurity going forward....IMHO I would have to believe that as we get closer to the September NSA...Trusted Computing Show, we will see more and more articles finally talking about these issues.
Sincerely,
Jas
Pointandfigure/sportsman....from one of the ancients....it is amusing that you talk about "Dr. Bob"..as though you have actually met the gentleman or know what he thinks. There are some of us ancients who have met not only " Dr. Bob"....but also Mr. Willett
..lark Allen...Gilder..etc. yet....you don't see the arrogance that you demonstrate on a regular basis. The "ancients" do not require ridiculous hype to keep us invested....something to keep in mind.
Sincerely,
Jas
Re HP bundling....There are two types of potential bundling deals......
1) A bundling deal for ETS
2) A bundling deal for TDM
I don't believe 1 will happen until HP loses a number of large accounts to Dell because of this issue. I believe from what was discussed at the SHM...that we are beginning to see this happening.
In regards to # 2....I don't see a bundling deal until the feds MANDATE a SED for govt. purchases....IMHO
Sincerely,
Jas
Re Russell Rebalancing...the first question that needs to be answered is.....Roughly how many shares were involved in the rebalancing? At roughly 15:59...there were roughly 1 million shares traded......then within the next few minutes and into the after hour period...there were anywhere from 10-14 million additional shares traded..... Nasdaq.com had the total ~15 million while Yahoo showed it to be ~11 million.
It TKC is correct...then the MMs simply sold the shares to the index funds from their reserves that they had accumulated. The problem that I have with this theory is simple...I can't see HOW they accumulated that many shares in such a short period of time....yes...I think 30 days is a short time considering our trading volumes to be in a position to accumulate 6-10 million shares.
If they went naked...as I believe they did....the question is how many shares are they currently naked? This question is important for obvious reasons. BTW....I don't think that Wave is alone in this situation...I believe that a large number of small stocks are facing the same scenario.
Sincerely,
Jas
Orda...the "cheap" shares are shares that they will use to cover their shorts...ie the shares they garner when someone sells them their shares.
Sincerely,
Jas
TKC....the initial list of potential changes came out on 5/28/10. One can argue that the MMs may have "guessed" that Wave would be included before the preliminary list came out. Even if they started accumulating from 5/28/10...I would be very hard pressed to believe that they could have accumulated millions of shares to account for what we saw last friday. What is amazing is that eventhough many can describe what takes place every year with the rebalancing...not many seem to understand WHERE all these shares come from. I have yet to see any transparancy regarding the degree by which the MMs go naked to allow for an orderly market.
Sincerely,
Jas
tkc...re "after hour trades"...Do you truly believe that they had time to accumulate the millions of shares that were bought by the various index funds. The ONLY explanation that makes any sense to me is that the MMs went naked big time to create the so called orderly market. I agree with those that think we are going to be range bound for a while unless one of two things happen....either we get a significant announcement...or the supply of cheap shares to the MMs dry up.
Sincerely,
Jas
Dig....I understand your position....but for you or me to buy a million share block at a few pennies above the prior days close would be nearly impossible. For these funds to be able to do so just seems wrong. Like I said...I understand what you are saying....it doesn't remove the nasty taste in my mouth...FWIW
Sincerely,
Jas
Weby...re naked shorting....I understand the principal....but there is a difference between being naked a couple hundred thousand shares vs over 10 MILLION shares in one day....just seems wrong.... For the MMs to cover their shorts.....they're going to be playing games for the forseeable future...unless we have news to drive us out of this range.
Sincerely,
Jas
I'm absolutely clueless HOW the MM's have this number of shares to distribute without going naked on the trade. How this is legal is beyond me.
Sincerely,
Jas
Waverider....what is amazing is that the MMs were able to accumulate that amount of shares to distribute to the index funds. I didn't realize they were sitting on that amount of inventory.
Sincerely,
Jas
Wavey...re shares supply....It's hard to believe that the MMs have secured the amount of shares that will be required by the various index funds in the next 15 minutes. The volume should be interesting....The volume could easily overwhelm the share price cap. I assume this is what has been accounting for the wild fluctuations in the share price over the past few trading days.
Sincerely,
Jas

Re HAP confeence...
I just received the following e-mail:
The National Security Agency invites you to attend the first NSA Trusted Computing Conference and Exposition hosted by the Trusted Computing Division of the NSA/CSS Commercial Solutions Center (NCSC), in partership with the High Assurance Platform (HAP) program Office.
Cybersecurity vulnerabilities increasingly threaten national security, our economy and our way of life. Most existing solutions fail to address the heart of the problem: IS YOUR COMPUTER SAFE? In partnership with industry and academia, the NSA is pioneering breakthrough Trusted Computing techniologies that stop cyber threatsdead in their tracks. If you are concerned about the security of vital data, networks and critical enterprise applications, you will want to attend THE NSA TRUSTED COMPUTING CONFERENCE AND EXPOSITION.
The event will take place on September 14-16, 2010 at the Doubletree Orlando Hotel at the enterance to Universal Studios in Orlando Florida

Re. Patents....
One of the most under appreciated aspects of Wave Systems is the portfolio of intelectual property. Wave has done a tremendous amount of engineering work for both Dell and Broadcom....and what has come out of these relationships is a significant library of IP that belongs to Wave. One can now add two patents that describe certain elements of CORE technology UNDERLYING self encrypting hard drives. If one believes that SEDs will REPLACE software encryption as the standard.....then this recent acquisition is rather significant.
Today, Wave presented at the MDB Bright Lights Conference today. The 50 companies presenting at the conference were selected from more than 1,600 small cap companies which were scored, ranked and analyzed on the basis of their rate of innovative change as well as the novelty, quality, INDUSTRY IMPACT of their patents.
There are a few people on this thread who are SO VERY CONCERNED about PROFITABILITY status that they are missing the big picture. As far as I'm concerned....I'm not expecting breakeven status this year. I want the company to re-invest any free cash back into GROWING the business opportunities that are presenting themselves....be it with HP or the feds.
Sincerely,
Jas

Hi Dig...re HP bundling deal. I don't agree that your view on a possible HP bundling deal.....although I can't exclude that [possibility. In my view....we will see a possible bundling deal. There are two different deals that we are talking about....one for the basic software...and the other for the trusted drive manager.
1) If enough HP clients want Wave's TPM software installed.....it will pressure HP to enter into some sort of bundling deal. Otherwise....it's going to get expensive for HPs clients. For example...if a HP client wanted Wave's TPM software installed...it will run them betrween 10-15 dollars/unit. Remember that Dell's costs are ~.90 cents. That is a significant difference for a potential client. IF...yes...I said IF...HP transitions to the Broadcom USH.....we will see a bundling deal along the lines of Dell .90/unit (or slightly higher) shortly thereafter....IMHO
2) As SEDs become more common.....the trusted drive manager from Wave will be asked for in larger numbers. This is especially true when one is talking about the Feds. Infact....I sincerely believe that once the feds MANDATE SEDs...we will see a bundling deal for the Trusted Drive manager.
Sincerely,
Jas
Re NSA...Nice paragraph on HAP.
Sincerely,
Jas
sorosman/pointandfigure...re HP...If as you sy the deal is done...then why are they haggling over the details?? The HP deal will be done when it is announced....it's as simple as that...
Jas
Doma....Re HP....FWIW...I agree that a HP-ETS bundling deal will happen when HP takes on the Broadcom chip. I also agree that the TDM bundling deal could happen at anytime. The fact that Wave has hired a full time individual to handle the HP business says a great deal. (Not to mention that he use to be the HP point man for his former employer) Finally, If anyone truly believes that Wave would be spending large sums of money on HP without the expectations of a bundling deal hasn't been paying attention.
Sincerely,
Jas
Kev...re Broadcoms USH....Your IGNORANCE on Wave's technology is truly amazing. You're right...Wave's work with Broadcom and the resultant portfolio can be easily duplicated....Keep on thinking that......
Sincerely or not,
Jas
JCLYAK...re Dell.....Normally...I would agree with you regarding your point of concentrating a large percentage of the revenue stream from one client. What most people fail to understand is WHY Dell has decided to continue working with Wave. It's not just a DELL/ WAVE relationship....it's actually a DELL/WAVE/BROADCOM relationship. The Universal Security Hub is the basis for the majority of Dell's security protocols. The amount of engineering work Wave has done with both Dell and Broadcom should not be underestimated. For a company to displace Wave from their current position with Dell...they would not only have to develop similar products...but also replicate the work Wave has done with Broadcom.....THAT WORK IS CURRENTLY THE PROPERTY OF WAVE'S PORTFOLIO.....FWIW
Sincerely,
Jas
Why? Do you really believe that the street will pay more attention to the fact that the CEO who has OVER 1,000,000 options selling a lousy 40,000 shares vs all the fronts that TRUSTED COMPUTING is moving forward on? If there is a selloff....rest assured that there will be some of us accumulating more shares....the same way we were doing a year ago in the .5-1.0 range.
ARE YOU SERIOUS?

oclv99....what is amazing is that we are all ignoring an unknown event that caused very LARGE amount of shares to be BOUGHT in the last 8-10 minutes on a FRIDAY. Is there anyone out there that finds that interesting given what the trading looked like all day?

Awk...Thanks for re-posting New Wave's post. It amazes me how many people constantly fall for mis-information even when they are provided with info directly from the company. The analyst...and I use the term very loosely...didn't even understand the complex relationship that exists between Dell/Broadcom/Wave but that didn't stop hip from insinuating that the Wave/Dell relationship bears watching because of the new Credant/Dell relationship....GIVE ME A F********* BRREAK!!!
Sincerely,
Jas
