think that result was similar to AMZN and it's run up due to the Kindle Fire.
why i chose longer dated options. like many, just not so sure-
grabbed a bunch of Oct22 430 at 2.76 average-
trying to hedge against volatility, and also it seems that any options close to being in the money this week are carrying a huge premium
not looking for a huge win, but should be good pocket change
totally agree-
also think the earnings run will be more similar to April then in July, but it will come
AAPL calls might be the easiest money to be made next week
the thought of the amount of money being evaporated(or created) today is amazing...
the market is quite a beast
the old adage-
buy the rumor
sell the news...
think the way AAPL was acting today was the tell that the market was in the midst of a headfake-
trailed the markets gains by a large margin before the sell-off. think the big boys want it at 390 again anyway for a third load before the run into earnings
still has that chart gap at 393 to fill.
think it needs to be a bar, not a wick to get it full, but either way, MNYC was right; 395s were the way to go in regards to AAPL
don't think it's that bullish-
likely shortys covering before end of day...
but unless that Greek stuff is flatly rebuked with numbers as proof...
tomorrow is gonna be ugly
Think the rest of the weeks profit will be had in calls in almost anything-
What a crazy day!
they did last week-
made some good fun money on the 105 and 95 Sept23 last week-
just checked history to make sure i wasn't hallucinating, which i'm prone to when i don't have enough coffee in the morning... :)
what would prompt a stock that had weeklies to not offer them any more? is it people not willing to write them?
anyone seeing weeklies for SINA?
i don't.... and i know they were there last week.
odd-
looks like 390 is back in play short term for AAPL-
will be interesting in the coming weeks with earnings, but long term, if AMZN can actually offer a tablet alternative to the iPad, it will be dicey
Always trade scared-
If you leave money on the table with every trade, that means you took money off it and put it on the table that matters most.
SLV almost looks like a classic pink sheet...
Kinda sad to think there are many, many people out there that got wiped out cause of it
The markets are unforgiving-
Heard rumors and stuff from random posts it might gave been due to being a paid promoter without disclosure-
But she's back now, so who knows what happened. Glad for her return though, enjoyed reading her board
PIP is gonna be a stock to play tomorrow-
last time i looked at the short position, it was huge
I ment 2 percent, my bad-
But that didn't last long after the post.
Thank goodness for puts on days like this, cause it might be an ugly two hours left
I dunno...
CMG is only down less then 2 for now...
Burritos are the new safe haven. :)
AAPL should close that gap around 393, but really shouldn't fall too far below-
The expectations of their earnings in 3 weeks should be a self-fulfilling prophecy and start it back up-
But this market could get very interesting once this overall bounce flattens out...
OT-
Just want to say this is one of the best boards of ihub-
Never fail to learn something new each day. Thanks to all that contribute
Believe it will be serious-
Someone noted that volume on the SPY was still under 300 million, but the volume was still under 125 million before the announcement-
Means a doubling in little over an hour
Tomorrow should be interesting...
(edit: sorry, ment under two hours)
true-
and it may have not been the legal/share news but wouldn't surprise me in the coming months that will be an inevitability...
plus the puts were so cheap again, last time it fell to 6, the puts almost hit .35
BAC armageddon trade back on.... :)
http://www.businessinsider.com/bank-of-america-just-got-downgraded-by-moodys-2011-9
anyone thinking Jan12 2.50 puts....?
thanks for the viewpoint!
got lucky with puts on the first dump yesterday and still holding half of them-
planning on dumping the rest before the Fed, but still, it's been an interesting story thus far with the way it's trading. still got images of LLEN, CCME, and others in the back of my mind, so wondering if the same might be happening here
thinking a huge takedown on SINA is underway-
might be fun to watch/take part in-
something may still be up with SINA-
been getting pounded on the buy side yet 97 hasn't given away yet-
really weird trading, be good for another play today i'd wager
SINA going crazy-
might be worth play in either direction here, big volume
SINA-
could be an ugly rest of the week, especially with the crackdown/bad mojo as of late with Chinese stocks
SINA tankage?
that's on top of a R/S they did last September...
what a company, huh?
AAPL
on huge volume as well. guess the top isn't in yet
thinking the earnings play for it has begun. kinda got a buoy as well with the horrible RIMM numbers. Both it and GOOG has monster volume to start the day
SPY-
how much of this rampo do you think is simple fed-gaming for next week?
remember the same type of run-up last year then the good ole' fashion sell the news response before the climb up, kinda worried that may happen on Monday, not so much tomorrow though
sitting on my hands for the most part cause of this uncertainty, but trying to plan somethings either way
AAPL-
anyone think it looks a little toppy here?
the volume hasn't come yet to suggest a breakout yet, so a short-term pullback might be at hand soon
though it's all ways hard to short/put Apple though...

So clairvoyant you are... :)
Just curious on you're opinion on the massive open interest on Sept 180 call on GLD, almost 90k contracts-
Simply hedge bets against a fall or omen to come?
(disclosure: did but a small lotto amount at close to make me get up early in the morning)
about 2:13-
i only have power e*trade, charts are not very good sadly
price has dumped a bit since then
a 90,000 block of GLD just went through for 179.12 or so...
interesting
someone just bought over 16 million dollars worth of GLD...
something is brewing somewhere
What is tipping your hand in this matter?
The disconnect between SLV.and GLD today is very odd...
Just a general post to say that this board has become one the best reads on iHub, and thanks for everyone posting and contributing all they have-
Hopefully I can get my TA up to the same levels to contribute, by till then I'll watch and soak it all up-
