Show,
Fair enough; we just differ in opinions.
One of the greatest things I learned though, IMO, was when selling, never tell anyone that what they did was wrong but that there may be a better way to do something.
EVEN IF YOU KNOW IT WAS WRONG.
Mutual fund sales 101.
I don't think the email/answer is cool at all and I am suspect of it now.
Sounded unprofessional and lacking the intelligence that I believe Bob Jones possesses.
That kind of response is bad.
Never ever underestimate your competition.
I am not accusing you Pagan but I don't believe it's real.
Thanks Rocky, once again you are the man with the mostest.
Again, aside from all the wondering about why this, why that, why not this or that this is really great news.
I could be wrong but I thought that flying in the stratosphere was doable but only proved on paper/computers.
AND now with this successful flight; WOW great. Even more of a reason to invest in my opinion. (I am not a pumper btw everyone). It can be done and Globetel seems to be focusing on the practical aspects of design, manufacturing and usage.
Really good stuff. If the 'shorty's' want to use this I say go ahead and see what happens. My guess is the sands in their hourglass are running out.
Have a great week everyone and happy turkey - the best holiday of the year.
Holter, holter, holter
This is GREAT news for Sanswire/GobleTel!!!
This proves that what Sanswire is doing can be done!!
GlobeTel has all the pieces in place for getting "the last mile". We've all been holding our breath as up until now actually getting a Strat up to the stratosphere has been in question.
This makes me very excited.
BUT it brings up a big question for me.
HOW DID THEY GET FAA APPROVAL!!!!
Rock,
That is correct. It's been a long day... g-nite all.
Rocky/Kevin,
Nothing in particular. Bad wording on my part. Only intuition and speculation based on PR reading.
It would make sense that these prototypes could be alot smaller then the commercial version and therefore not necessary to go 13miles up to be successful and useful.
This may explain why nobody in and around Palmdale saw anything in the sky. But yes, purely speculative on my part.
Sorry to ruffle anybody's feathers...
Sanswire Networks LLC, has successfully completed its planned demonstration flight of its military prototype airship. The flight consisted of two military prototypes of varied size, both of which were flown for the benefit of a number of approved senior military and national security officials. The flights took place at the Sanswire facility in Palmdale, California, on Nov. 15, 2005.
"Working closely with our DoD customers to meet critical military and government needs is a key growth strategy for Sanswire", said Bob Jones, President of Sanswire LLC. Mr. Jones further commented that "Our aggressive approach to resource gathering and rapid internal cross-pollination has enabled us to assemble, and will allow us to deliver, this unique military prototype to these highly valued customers in record time. Sanswire's uniquely integrated approach to definition, design and development has given Sanswire a great competitive advantage in the race to deliver a highly functional military airship system, which will meet or exceed the stringent demands of the Department of Defense. In this regard, Sanswire is uniquely positioned, as a leader in the design, development and deployment of near space vehicles. This classified demonstration will further reinforce the competitive advantages of our technology and our delivery systems and shows our commitment toward providing the United States Government with its product significantly ahead of any other competitor."
Timothy Huff, Chief Executive Officer of GlobeTel commented "We are very pleased to have the opportunity to demonstrate and fly our military airship prototype during the next few weeks. Sanswire and the military design team have repeatedly proven themselves to be highly adept at meeting the complex operational requirements of Sanswire's military customers." Because of the military nature of the system, this event is not open to the public, and we will not be able to update the public on certain aspects of the airship program.
Bob Jones, president of Sanswire Networks LLC., further commented, "We are very pleased with the relationships that we have developed in the building of our Stratellite program. These relationships and the technology gained as a result from them have allowed the Company to utilize new and cutting edge technology, increase production capacity, increase overall performance and continue our accelerated commercialization of the high altitude airship program." Mr. Jones went on to say, "This demonstration in no way defers our progress on our commercial airship, Sanswire III. Sanswire II, our technology demonstrator, is under construction at our Palmdale facility in California and we are working aggressively to complete Sanswire II, pending the delivery of the Guidance, Navigation and Control Computer System (CCS) and the Safety Control System (SCS)."
W,
From my understanding the SII are not going up to the stratosphere height so they may not have been very high for the demo.
Found this today about Globetel and Telecom 05
Here is the whole article http://www.viodi.com/
and the following is the Strat mention...
It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s a Strattelite
The most unique thing on the show floor was from a company called, Sanswire Networks, a division of a larger private label telecom provider called GlobeTel Communications Corp. GlobeTel has mostly been focused on providing telecom services, like long distance, debit cards, etc. for international markets. They are working on an airship that will serve as a sort of floating cell tower operating in the stratosphere, above the weather.
At 13 miles above the earth, it is close enough that it doesn’t cause delay, but high enough that it could provide service to 126,000 square miles of territory. As can be seen in this Discovery Channel video, they are currently building the prototype and a commercial version could be ready next year. They are working on military versions as well. If this works and is as cost effective as it seems like it could be, it could a revolutionary way to bring communications to rural and underserved urban areas. I was thrilled as I met their CFO – Chief of Flight Operations – who is responsible for, literally, making sure this project flies.

I personally think that by posting your information re: the Searfoss issue was very productive and valuable.
People and companies need to be held responsible for the information they are providing. Your post created some very quick and informative responses to soemthing that needed clarification.
I believe investors need to keep digging and asking questions and keep companies on their toes and honest.
With that in mind I think GTE responded in kind and honestly as did others on this board.
On another note, I am sorry for the loss of your friend and thanks for the Telecom05 updates.
Multi
Here is another couple of links to check out while I'm at it.
The second one has an old Globetel PR from May 04 but the link from it is gone (look about 2/3rds down) ...

Testsite1,
Great job! Thanks for the feedback. I know how big the Venetian is and by this time you've probably walked 5miles already!
A note of interest to all here... The following is a link to Telecom '05's floor plan. Globetel is booth 1253 in the top right of the diagram. Move your mouse over a booth and it will tell you who is who. Some BIG players (look by the entrances)
All in all Globetel has a nice sized booth.

Hope this helps.
(Oh ya, look who's right across from them!!! Could be dumb luck or 'proper planning!')

Kevin,
If you were poking around in my garage or trying to go thru doors in my store that were locked I'd get upset.
Can we stop with the posts on this please. Its unproductive.
Hmmm, strange. This may be a dog after all.
Hmm, no news or anything to speak of. Anybody in the know?
Kevin/Rocky,
If you can get your hands on the T. Huff interview from back this spring he explains it very well.
Sorry I don't know where that interview originated, maybe the wall street journal?
This is an interesting article for rocket heads.
Also, does GlobeTel have any affiliation with Mr. Searfoss?
http://www.wired.com/news/space/0,2697,68987,00.html?tw=rss.TOP
Green,
Soory I read it three times and still cannot find the reference to GTE. Can you point it out for me? Maybe it's staring at me?
Villas,
I can't believe you said that!
A quick response doesn't mean people are sitting around, it usually means they are doing their job.
I believe it would be better to say something...
"GlobeTel provides these services via a network of international distributors, value-added resellers and remarketers. If you are, or are interested in partnering
with Globetel in this exciting and vibrant market please
contact xxxxxx or click this link."
"If you are a potential customer or individual looking for more information about our exciting products and services please click here to locate a distributor in your area or click here to lookup a distributor or click here and enter in your information (or register) and a distributor will contact you as soon as possbile etc etc etc"
I really was hoping my concerns could just be presented to the company via this board and actually have already heard back from an email I sent to the webmaster so thanks.
Gary,
Regardless the user should be guided to a place to purchase.
If that user is a potential distributor then how does one become a distributor.
Let's say you walk by a store with a display window and the door open. You see a product in the window you like.. you have some questions about price etc. You go in the store, look around for a salesperson, yell "hello, anybody here". No one shows up so you leave. No sale.
It is a pretty plain and simple concern.
Website question and concern.
I noticed as I was reading the website that there really wasn't a place that lead me to buy!
For instance, I click on Products and Services, I liked what I saw, wanted to find out more about the Stored Value Cards so I clicked that, read that whole page and thought, ok I am ready to buy but there was nothing to allow me to do that. Not even a phone# that said call here for more information on getting your SVC.
I'm concerned. If anyone here has connections to Globetel can you please pass this on. I will send an email to info@ and the webmaster but ...
Finally a new website!!! It looks really good. Shows that the company is coming together and reflects where they are. Congratulations Globetel.
GrecI,
My apologies if you were being genuine.
Simply read the old posts and when you find one with Skunks name on it, click it and then you can read all his/her posts.
I would also say that this isn't the place for DD as stuff here is mostly post PR comments and such although some nice folks post Level II info.
Greci,
That's funny. Nice try.
Anybody watching IBZT?
I don't know about big time but the vKeyboard is one reason I bought some of this stock.
I really wish they would market the website more and also have links to reviews for each product otherwise its just like buying out of a magazine.
Anybody know and email contacts to send these comments to as there were none on the gomogear.com website.
My feeling is that (and I believe we were told this) that S2 (and even S1) where and are so much larger than the original vehicle and I would assume the planned propulsion just wasn't going to work with the new configuration. JMHO.
My gut feeling is based on recent PRs that no propulsion system they have as of yet hence the hire of the ZSW firm to develop one. How is the flight going take place to stratosphere by the end of 2005 without propulsion system?
Please if I am such a wiener then please someone enlighten me. I'm being serious.
"Competition" Squirt - Your opinion is one way and mine another and I think that is ok.
My comments/question was more about the fact that GTEL mentions competition. I believe this to be significant.
We've always had some competition but nothing as far along that warrants the company mentioning it in a PR IMO.
Just curious what ripples are out there? Intel? Motorola? Others?
RE: Recent PR.
A couple things caught my interest in this PR and was wondering if anyone had any ideas or facts relating...
Formost this statement...
This strategic move,
in bringing the expert of experts to our team, gives us an added edge
over our competitors.
Hmmm, "competitors"?! Would this be competitors to the Strat? OR the cell technology? Interesting. Competition is good!
Also, I am impressed with the new PR firm giving alot more attention and information about the Strat and GlobeTel and it's offerings. This is a well written PR IMO.
About the Stratellite:
A Stratellite is similar to a satellite, but is stationed in the
stratosphere rather than in orbit. At an altitude of 10 to 13 miles
above the Earth, each Stratellite will have clear line-of-sight
communications capability to an entire major metropolitan area as well
as being able to provide coverage across major rural areas. Several
Stratellites linked together could cover many hundreds of thousands of
square miles. The Stratellite will allow subscribers to easily
communicate in "both directions" using readily available wireless
devices. In addition to voice and data, proposed telecommunications
uses include cellular, 3G/4G mobile, MMDS, paging, fixed wireless
telephony, HDTV, real-time surveillance and others.
About GlobeTel Communications Corp
GlobeTel Communications Corp. is a diversified Telecommunications
and Financial Services company. GlobeTel operates business units in
Stored Value debit cards, as a certified MasterCard processor; the
sale of carrier-grade VOIP of long distance to major long-distance
re-sellers, VOIP technology, wireless radio technology and
development, and high-altitude airship research and development. These
self-contained business units were developed to operate independently
of each other. The symbiotic relationship, however, provides value to
each of the other business units. This strategy offers GlobeTel
financial diversity and risk mitigation while striving toward its
operating objectives.
Operating on a global basis, GlobeTel has historically focused its
business development on markets outside of the United States. Current
operations and business relationships exist in Asia, Europe, South
America, Mexico and the Caribbean.

To me, as an investor, or potential invester, that pretty much covers their a*s.
More on our future...

As I mentioned last week, with Dual Smart phones coming out later this year, software available, Wi-FI, Wi-Max coming along we need a HAV to provide broadband.
So your in your car in the desert and it breaks down, pull out your mobile and search for VoIP, Digital, Roam.
Think of it. Your mobile phone with VoIP at those cheap rates!
Use your mobile in your house with a small wireless router!
People people, let's not get carried away and start blasting each other please.
He's a couple of interesting things

If this Strat flys! It's all about timing and things are coming together. Looking a little scary...
Mick,
Welcome, make sure you are not hiding the header to this board. Many, if not all your questions will be answered in the header. This is a good board with a great moderator and ok posters. Ha, I am including myself in that ;>)

Subject: Re: [NSN Idea]
NOVA has received multiple e-mails about GlobeTel/Sanswire. We will consider it as a topic suggestion if we consider the volume of interest in it legitimate. At the moment, however, we suspect we're being spammed about a specific company's product and that the e-mails we've received are not representative of our audience's interest. If that is the case, we will disregard further e-mail about the Stratellite.
Post 14703
It is spam, gather
Believe me, you aren't making them aware of anything they don't already know.
They aren't going to explain the science behind the strats any further then Sanswire already has
Sanswire has already done a discovery spot aswell.
It is much more probable that they will time these show releases, not us
I didn't miss the entire point of the posts imo. I just didn't think that they were spammed at Nova and Squ1d seemed to think they were (see above).
Anyway good day to all. I just want to see this bird fly.
I WANT MY HIGH SPEED ACCESS ! ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE!
squ1d,
Why so quick to assume that it is spam.
I personnally would be interested in any programs that inform me, Joe Public, about the Strat program and what is trying to be accomplished. Everyday I come up with new uses in my head about what the Strat could mean. It really is poised here...this xmas or early next year you should see dual smart phones on the market. Think of that alone, instead of paying phone charges you use your "mobile" with VoIP from the desert or in the woods etc. And what about new products services? Tons of stuff to think about. I want this strat to succeed for other reasons than my investment.
On the hurricane note, I was not necessarily thinking about the storm being in the Stratesphere but more so the ground to Strat communications for keeping it in place.
Was wondering what backup plans there are. Also, if there was say another strat over Texas could it relay to one in the gulf or any sort of daisy chain. Just some thoughts on this crazy end of summer time.
Gather, I wrote an email. Every little bit helps.
BTW - maybe a 'mute' question...
Let's assume there was a Strat up over the Gulf of Mexico or Florida or the Caribbean; what would have happened to it and its functionality, etc., over the last few days?
