LOL Geronimo! I had "Relax, take a deep breathe, have a drink" as part of my outgoing message on my answering machine with "Fly my to the moon" playing in the background when I was an IT admin. By the time people could speak, they were 70% calmer than when they first called.
I create networks and websites for a living. (if this info was posted already, I apologise, I just got to ihub and haven't read the 200+ posts yet)
It looks like it's a Domain hosting issue. qtelevision.com's DNS server is easy-cgi.com and qtelevisionnetwork.com's DNS server is pansa.net. The owner of qtelevisionnetwork.com is listed as a Netherlands address?!? The only thing that makes me think Frank owns both domains is that they were both registered via tucows.com. Although q...network.com was created Apr.2003 and qtelevision.com on Mar.2004.
The message you see at q...network.com means that either the domain is configured wrong by the hosting company OR pansa.net's DNS server is pointing q...network.com to the wrong IP address, which exists in the Netherlands ? (.nl). There can't be a redirect added to any page because the domain name is not working. Whoever is in charge of the ad, and also the domain names (if qtelevisionnetwork.com is indeed owned by Frank) should swiftly be replaced. No anger, no judgment, just good business.
On the plus side, if the pps suffers, then it will result in a company that's undervalued which means it has no where to go but up. Warren Buffett looks for companies like this to purchase (not that he will, just making a point). Good companies that suffered a hicup.
If it is a DNS issue (Domain Name Service), even if they fixed it this morning, it would take up to 48 hours for a correction to filter through the internet.
The only hope is that they reprint the ad tomorrow with qtelevision.com as the website.
There's a commercial on CNBC right now about, "we lost tons of business because we didn't have a website" Synchronicity.
It's like when certain people think "If only I had xyz, I'd be happy" then they get xyz and realize they aren't happy. Eva Longoria's character on Desperate Housewives said, "I thought getting everything I ever wanted would make me happy. Turns out, I wanted all the wrong things" Close...
I believe in Q and am not holding my breathe for carrier announcements. Things will happen when they are supposed to happen and not before.
sirsly, I could imagine people who've been sitting on the fence for a while being swayed towards buying depending on the ad. Why not? The amount of people screaming "carriers, carriers, carriers" are the ones who may be setting themselves up for a big fall. They ignore evey piece of progress and news scoffing because it doesn't mention carriers. Not that I think it would, but what if the pps doesn't move an inch even AFTER a carrier announcement?? Since 'carrier' is burned into their brains, if it doesn't happen, they may dump and run the other way. Personally, I don't care either way. Truth is, we don't know what will make the pps rise. I like the step by step, little by little approach. If it builds up over time, isn't it more likely to keep climbing?
OT: PM: Econ, One can observe something as negative without being negative at the same time. :) I know from experience how operating from negativity is draining on one's energy and how it affects judgment. I'm pretty sure the reason I see negativity in others is because I ONLY operated from there most of my life. I am not judging it as bad now, I am simply aware of it. To be fair, reading someone's text is not the same as having a one to one conversation face to face or over the phone. I'm sure that whatever I felt from your posts was colored by my own imagination and where I was at the time I read it.
I would have responded with a PM instead of public, but the board only lets me send public replies.
I hope you didn't think I was attacking or telling you to change. I tried to word it so that I was pointing out negative traps one may fall into, not that I was annoyed with or upset at your posts, which would indicate my post was a negative take on your posts, which I am not. If you feel fine where your at and have low blood pressure when buying/selling then great. That's all one could hope for.
I recently attained my MA in psychology and know for a fact that being positive these last three years of my life has made an ENORMOUS impact in my day to day happiness and well being. Had you asked me more than three years ago, I would have said the same, "your outlook works for you, mine works for me..." It's only now, in hindsight that I would admit it was not working. Everyone is on their own path and none of them 'should' be the same. Just sharing what I've learned as an easier way to approach everything.
I know we both agree that Q is a good thing or we both wouldn't be here, right?
'Santa' didn't have to, the media does it so much better.
I am not setting anything up for anyone. I am putting out a positive thought, nothing more, nothing less. I can't control how someone interprets it. If someone wishes to get upset because something doesn't happen, then they should reassess the nature of life and their relationship to it.
Just as "sadness is a given in life but suffering is optional," things not happening the way you want is a given, disappointment due to expectations is optional.
All my posts are meant with a "wait and see" positive attitude. I could live from a neutral or negative position but I find negativity saps my energy and neutrality boring. I am not saying, nor have I said that this or that will happen tomorrow or at any time. I believe I am clearly stating how nobody knows what tomorrow (in general) may bring and that to look forward to a good outome (not expecting) is better than being doubtful and expecting something NOT to happen so one can log back on here and say, "see! Told you so!" ugh.
There is a HUGE difference between contemplating/imagining something happening tomorrow and expecting something to happen tomorrow. I do not expect anything other than the sun will rise tomorrow. Uless it doesn't.
I try not to get disappointed. That would mean I had an attachment to an outcome and that is a waste of my time. I can be positive all day long about stuff and still not be attached to it so much that I allow it to change my mood on the outcome. Well, that's the intention anyway. What I shoot for.
When I was a kid, I imagined all sorts of presents under the tree from Santa. We didn't have money and so a lot of times 'Santa' wouldn't show. Difference is I would be disappointed and upset for weeks. I've grown a bit since then.
Yes, it would be better Friday OR it could be betterer Thursday AND Friday!
It would have even been better LAST Friday but I'll take what I can get and be happy with it.
I agree, if Q ends up ONLY on Dish or DirecTV, then the GLBT community would probably jump through the hoops necessary to receive it. But that thought process is still "worst case scenario" which is negative. I'm thinking a more positive stance is that they won't have to because it will be easier to get.
"...check one of those out, they are out for blood most of the time." Funny!
"Either carriers are on the way, or there is a specific reason we are not getting them, thats a fact and no other way to put it." Regardless of how many ways there are to 'put' something, there are always three ways to interpret anything. Positive/Neutral/Negative. Which do you feel you operate from most of the time? To say there is a specific reason may mean to you that something is wrong. When I read that, I think neither right nor wrong. I think there is a reason(s) and information I do not have so I wait for it to come. In the mean time, I imagine the best case scenario because I like feeling good. Fear/worry are imaginative aspects of thought.
Giving up attachment to the outcome is giving up control that I never had in the first place. Anytime one says, "why this?" or "How come that?" they are trying to control. They are comparing what simply is with what they have formed in their mind. The most challenging thing for me is to truly accept people and things for how they are moment to moment. Not as I think they are, how I want them to be, or how they appeared 5 minutes ago. The stock market is the ultimate truth for that. As much as it changes, it is always perfect and 'right' and I must accept it or be upset. I spent 39 years being upset... been there, done that.
yes I realized in a previous post that very thing.
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=5001368
However, I said in this last post that I am choosing to believe it will be tomorrow. That does not mean it will, but that I am contemplating the positive, the best with what info we have been given. I don't know if it will or won't. All I do know is that the PR said the campaign will begin tomorrow.
I'd rather be pulled, looking forward to my positive beliefs than look back and be pushed by my fears.
BTW FWIW, I sometimes contemplate myself as having a full head of hair... hasn't worked yet! LOL.
I know I'll be getting up at 6am tomorrow to enjoy my "triple grande extra mocha mocha" while looking for the Q ad in USAToday. If it's not there or not a full page ad, so be it. I'll still have my mocha! I am choosing to believe that it will be there.
"This, or something better, for the highest good of all concerned!"
Econ.. some of your thoughts and questions are coming from the negative. I'm referring to the last couple of posts including all the questions you had for Frank.
Ever stop to think that Frank has taken Q on a higher, more challenging road? A better road that pays off much more than the road Here! has taken?? To compare Here! to Q and conclude that since one is on and the other is not (or that one's pps is higher) that one MUST be doing something wrong or has a worse product is not logical. It is at best worrysome. They are not the same products! In fact, forget taking Q on a higher road. Frank is probably just doing the best he can, and I can't find fault in someone for doing that.
Here! is a pay-per-view movie box. $3.99 for a chunk of movie time. That is hardly a network. That is hardly the same as what Q is, and what Q will be in the future. They announced they would like to add original programming, but they don't have it now. I think that being a PPV first and later switching over to a regular network, month to month based broadcast would hurt them. Why? People already have a sense of what Here! has been and would probably ignore most news about the switch.
Maybe it's a lot easier to get a contract with a carrier as pay-per-view? Less commitment from the carrier. It's there if people want to pay in that moment, not month to month. To say that being on the dish is better because of what you saw in Dearborn is not the same as Q either. (maybe the dish was the ONLY place to get the Arab content) If Q can get on Comcast (or similar carrier) then people who want Q don't have to buy a whole new system and pay for other stuff they don't want. They can simply add Q to what they are already paying for on the same equipment they already have.
90% of news regarding Here! doesn't make me think for one second that something is wrong with Q for not being in the same place. Tortoise vs. hare...Who won in the end? The other 10% of news about Here!, specifically acceptance and expansion of GLBT related content, would probably be good for Q as well.
"Contemplate yourself as surrounded by the conditions which you want to produce." -Dyer. That would include imagining Q at some higher price as if it were happening now (pick wherever you want) and nothing but abundant wealth as a result with positive high regard to Frank for doing the best he could at any one moment along the way and for NOT copying what others have done. Imagine remembering how silly all the worrying and doubt from the past really was and that it happened at the perfect time. Now, imagine all of us on this board in that same place with those same thoughts and beliefs.
Point is to forget the duality of right/wrong. The fact that the pps is low and we aren't in the same place as any other company does NOT indicate wrongness. To me It indicates uniqueness and potential.
What's laughable is thinking this is the only board they are posting on.
George posts and then ^poof^ he's gone. While only posting on this board is pretty small and insignificant, posting on a much larger scale could affect the price a small amount for a short amount of time.
News/No news.... c'mon! relax people. If you choose to let their actions 'make' you upset, the best thing you can do for yourself is ignore them. You cannot control anyone's posts or opinions or bashing etc... Personally, I'd much rather read about factual QBID content then the bickering of "he said, she said" finger pointing.
(edit) ignore. eom
Just thinking about USA Today out loud...
The PR stated that he's starting on the 6th which is this coming Thursday. Someone else posted that Friday's paper was good through the weekend. I'm wondering (and if anyone else knows or can check, please do tell) if someone wanted to put a full page ad in USA today, would it be able to be out the same day it's entered/paid for? I saw on USA's site that they do final editing at around 2:30am the night before so it can get distributed worldwide. So, if Frank pays for an ad on the 6th, Thursday, wouldn't it make sense that it would actually make it to the paper on the following morning? That would allow the add to run all weekend (which costs a bit more too) Like the Dr said, "it does not specifically say they are going to start with USA Today on Thursday..."
Of course, it might already have been paid for and slotted for this Thursday.
Like I said, just thinking out loud. No hope, no fear, no attachment to the outcome.
The 9mil is for usatoday.com, not the paper. The paper sells about 5.2mil each day. (which is still a LOT of people exposed to Q) I went to usatoday.com and didn't see any full page ads like in the paper.
But none of the links go anywhere?!? "Page not found" errors on all of them.
Link to investor chat that works here
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=4911400
The way the site is programmed, the link won't work in some browser, but the link above should get you there.
Safari is the browser I'm on now. Haven't tried with firefox, opera, mozilla or Internet explorer yet. They need to put the <A href> code fully within the table cell for it to work on all browsers.
I'm in the chat room now...
Here's the link to investor chat room
The source code for the page shows the following as the location of the investor chat room link:
http://pub35.bravenet.com/chat/show.php?usernum=2933064910&cpv=2
If you go there directly it opens and allows one to enter a username for chat.
However, clicking the link on the qtelevision.com site does nothing (at least on my OSX machine with Safari) Seems they have the href starting before a table cell, and ending after the cell is closed. Not a normal way to put a link on a page.
See red/green text in screen capture below.
Thanks BT, will do. That's been my intention all along.
I believe the uptrend is here. I believe in Q. That's why I'm here. I've had this very conversation with him and he say's he never looks back and thinks "wish I shoulda." He buys/sells 3~4 companies that move up/down quickly based on candlesticks and years of data. The other day, I was talking about the jump in SPEA because the company bought Elvis' rights and he still didn't care about that. His excitement is in the stealthy in/out, not in long term. I don't even think he has any long term stock at all.
I'm sure there is plenty to learn from him as well as other types of investors/traders/gamblers. Just taking it all in and processing.
We played all over MI, up to escanaba (sp?), Traverse City, Bay City, Big Rapids (only two bars for live entertainment there in the middle of nowhere!) Midland, Pleasantville (?), no no.. Mt.Pleasant!
FENTON!! I played a gig there once. Way back in another life I was a keyboard player in an R&B band. don't miss the cold back there, THAT's fer sure!!!
I've been out in LA over 13 years now and i'm ashamed to admit that 50~60 degrees feels ghastly cold now! When I first arrived here, I thought I was the ONLY person in shorts and a T-shirt most of the time. Now it's long pants, long sleeves and a light jacket.
Yes, say's the longest he holds a stock is 10 days. Never cares about the company or PRs. He only goes off a long enough trading history to analyze in his software (MetaStocks Pro??) I don't know what he trades, but he said the best he's done in one day was $8k. Seems ok to me. He said the way he trades, he wouldn't even look at a stock like Qbid for another year or so. I can see and appreciate his approach, but I can also appreciate the Bill Graham approach of company/managerial research. Since I'm just starting out, maybe I like the excitement of watching the streaming quotes, the analyzing of PRs and the whole speculative nature of it. More like I own part of the company rather than using as a vehicle to make a few bucks. I could imagine later down the line, when I have more money to play with, I'd treat it more like an income/business.
Soooo much to learn, soooo little money. :)
Any plans for a sister Q radio station for satellite radio carriers? Q in the home and Q in the car?
"Where do you Q?"
Wouldn't he still need a carrier? Isn't QTelevision already a network?
I could see where he could buy Lifetime or any other cable channel, but what carrier would allow the content to be broadcast without first proving it's quality?
If there was a pre-existing gay channel, I suppose he could buy that and have a shoe in to keep whatever carriers that channel already had, but there aren't any... are there?
BigT a question about Qbid charts so far...
I found out a neighbor of mine is into DayTrading pretty heavily and he's recommending a couple books so I can understand Elliot curves, candlesticks etc... I asked him about qbid and he said that any past performance is probably so coerced by MM's that reading the chart is not as reliable as a company that isn't a pink sheet. It sort of makes sense to me, but I'm very new to all this. How can you be sure of the charts (uptrends/downtrends etc.) when it could all be manipulated data by MM's instead of true market trends?
Those 6' foot mamas were all up and down 21 and 52.
Funny. While others are saying "Where the heck is Durand" I'm thinking "Where the heck is Wixom?"
I'm out here in LA chillin like a villain with no fillin.
I totally know the mindset you speak of, and agree it works perfectly well for troubleshooting IT. I'm not so sure it works when the 'facts' are not as factual as one might think, as in this case of these PR's.
It's like the PR's are stating that one cannot get to a website. One way of thinking is that DNS is down, or a local router locked up, or the website's server is down. Another way is to think the user mispelled the URL, or rolled their chair over the CAT5 one too many times, or forgot to pay their ISP bill, or has https instead of http... one way is not blaming the user, another way is assuming blame on the user. Neither way is 'right' but one is positive and giving 'the benefit of the doubt' and another is negative and thinking the user is a moron. (which is probably the case more often than not)
All I'm saying is consider all possibilities in everything before stating what you believe are the facts along with your interpretation of said facts.
How's this instead of DLP?
http://www6.tomshardware.com/howto/20041201/index.html
Crude, cheap, probably bulky and loud, but doable for minimal investment.
I agree with wanting the .05/.10 and that syndication ALONE won't do it. however, nowhere in any PR has it said that that's all he's doing. It is going to take time... maybe lot's of time. One cannot come to any conclusions at this point. Have a beer, look over some router access lists, make sure all your CAT5's are 568b and relax.
Where in Mi are you anyway? I'm originally from in between Flint/Lansing and also an IT admin.
Nothing goes in my output.
(couldn't resist...)
There are so many possibilities, so many ways any of this could go. Yes, you ask valid questions. However, they seem to all be based upon a negative way of thinking. The whole "The sky is falling" thing isn't very helpful to any of us, or yourself. Just as pointless is the guise that you are doing this to help others on the board. A self righteous act to make sure others see everything the way you do. If that's true, then it's called co-dependance (unnecessary concern over anothers feelings) and over-responsibility. Worry about yourself and your own DD and let everyone else do the same. Until there is a clear PR answering all your questions, there isn't a right or wrong answer. That means the Skunks is just as "right" as you claim to be. That's the beauty of opinions. Agree to disagree is the only 'answer.'
As an excercise, see If you can take the subject of each of your questions from a positive side of why each one may be a good thing, and then ask yourself those questions as well. Whereas fear is totally imaginary, if you live from there you could end up manifesting that which you fear the most. If so, would that make you 'right?' no.
I do appreciate the valid points you bring up, as it seems others do as well. But it is challenging to pick them out amidst all the anger and self righteousnous. For right now, we're all in this together long/short. I invite you to keep posting your thoughts and ideas but at least be conscious of the anger and "I am right" attitude as it can prevent your ideas from being heard.
Amen Steel! ...eom
Thanks Skunksyard, but I am acknowleding all 4 shows. It matters little to me in this moment that all 4 aren't "locked in with a contract." It seems the negative people on this board look at the PR as if it were a stack of $20's where only the top facing bill is real. (with a grating "nah nah, I told you so" attitude) Whereas I do not know Frank personally, I am choosing NOT to believe his PR was 25% fact and 75% smoke and mirrors. (these are all just opinions, right? Nobody's beliefs are above anyone elses) I believe the other 3 shows will be picked up shortly and appreciate the passing of information by Frank.
I've read over and over on this and other boards the emotional outcry for more PR. Specifically carriers. We got PR announcing some movement. Whether that movement is forward or not is yet to be seen. I am positive, not emotional or irrational, that it is forward. This is a process, not an event. I can understand that those wanting a rocket like SPEA are antsy and biting at the bit.
Those who spew negativity with or without PR's, being argumentative etc.. are simply acting out how they feel about themselves inside. It is so much easier to judge others or external things than it is to judge one's self. The more finger pointing, fear and negativity one exhibits, the more one is unhappy with themselves. It has nothing to do with Qbid or other posters on this board. There is no right or wrong here. To them, their emotions are very real. but they are simply interacting with their own demons.
Like I've read in a couple other posts, if a person has the attitude of worry and fear towards investing/day trading/gambling, then that person probably shouldn't be involved in it for THEIR own good.
I wish everyone involved with Qbid much success, or something better, for the highest good.
4 shows econnelle, not 1.
If you re-read the pr, you'll see the following are up for syndication.
-On Q Live
-Q on the move
-Women on Women
-In Focus
junk, a good crossover show like Qeer eye for the straight guy would be nice. I wonder if they could get that show moved over? or at least have re-runs? It's already got a huge following, both straight and glbt.
