"The Iraqi dinar has all the reasons to grow stronger thanks to an increase in revenues and development of the economy," Maliki said in response to some questions through the National Information Center.
"The government would not rush matters but would rather work on finding all the guarantees to render this measure a success. The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) is currently entrusted with drawing up a study on the whole issue and would give its decision soon," said the Iraqi premier.

I'm sure there will be some big banks that will exchange them for you. You might have to give them a exchange fee of anything over a certain amount. Or maybe a flat 5 percent fee... who knows. If they can make money on it I'm sure they will do it.
The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) decided to cancel its dollar sales because of the elections holiday, a CBI’s media source said on Thursday.
“The CBI will cease its sessions from Thursday (March 4) until Monday (March 8),” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency, noting that the bank will resume its sessions normally next Tuesday (March 9).

Why is there so much contradiction going on over there? This is getting to be comical.
They have got to do something with the Dinar quick. Looks like violence is rising again in Iraq due to the whole election process over there. I would love to see a reval of .21 or even .021 now. Raising the wealth of any country will give them hope for a better tomorrow and they may throw down their guns and bombs... well very carefully anyway. Imagine what the streets of Kuwait would look like if their dinar was taken down to a penny.
Well, I guess it may be time for me to focus on my plan B.
If it's God's will, it WIll happen... I just don't know if it is.
Maybe they have Sadam's gold stash and will back the dinar with that and oil.
Just kidding
Ema, that post made me get a little too excited. I need to get out of the house and do something so I can take my mind and heart off of this.
I don't understand the LOP thing as well because it won't help the Iraqi people who need help now, not 5 to 10 years from now.
Here's a song for all of us who will never give up. Even if this thing turns out bad for us there are other ways to get to our goals. Always have a plan B... or C.
I just wish something would happen soon so we can move on with our lives. If this thing turns out to be a lop only, well, at least it's over and I don't have to think about it anymore. By the way, I've probably been playing this dinar thing longer than anyone here... anyone want any saddam dinars? Yes, I still have them from 1992.
If I were Sony, GM or even the leader of China I would be trying to lobby for a reval of the Iraqi currency. That would be roughly 22 million more new shoppers. So many would benefit from this event. The cost of living would virtually be the same in Iraq except that they can buy a greater amount of exports.
How do they plan to leave Iraq in August if their currency is still in crisis mode? Making a new note isn't going to prop up the economy after we are gone... they need an revalued dinar. If not you will see violence in the streets again.

Other countries would benefit from a higher dinar because that would mean more imports to Iraq.
A stretch but could this be a sign for the Dinar?

The thing that gets me is 99% of his posts are attacking the dinar. He posted in the past year only in the Iraqi Dinar rooms only. Just look at his posting history and you will see what I'm talking about. He has brought many good points to his side of the debate but after a while I ignored his posts because it's the same thing all the time, and his post history tells me something is fishy. Why spend all that time on just one thing?
I for one agree that you have brought facts to the table. You make a good case for a 1 for 1, but it's hard to believe that this could actually happen. I am used to dealing with penny stocks and even my best stock ever went from .007 to .25... this would be the deal of the century for most investors. I hope you are right and this is God's will.
Well, this is all just a guess on my part, but I think when this does happen the Iraqi government will let everyone know what to do at the right time. We may have a 4 month grace period to exchange the dinars when the announcement is made.
Again, I am just guessing and I hope I'm wrong and there will be a 1 for 1 RV.
In my opinion, we will not see a LOP or a 1 for 1 RV. I think we will see stages of a RV that starts at .01 and works its way up from there over time.
For those of us who hold larger notes such as the 25k dinar we will have to exchange before they phase it out. It's still a pretty good profit.
1 million dinars = 10k dollars?
We will see.
Nevermind my first post.
The thing I don't understand is this, Does Iraq have to buy back the dinars from the banks that exchange for dollars? If so, why not try to buy the dinars at this rate while it is still very low? I just can't get my head around this idea... maybe I've been dealing with stocks too long.
Dow: 7,300 Oil: $90 Gold: $1,900
I hope I'm not too late.
I was just saying you spent the past year only on this board. I didn't for it to sound like you were in here every hour of every day. Sorry about that.
The dollar I take it would be a short-lived bump?
Aero, I noticed you have posted only in the Iraqi Dinar board for over a year except one post. I know you aren't a fan of the dinar but why do you spend all that time here? Not disrespecting you, just curious is all. Do you like any other currencies?
Thanks,
Don
That's what everyone thought about Clinton in his first year I believe.
A one term President?
Len, are you shocked the Dow hit 10k today? I am.
All those shorts in gold and silver must be sweating big time right now. China has been buying and now they are telling their own citizens to buy as well. It was illegal for anyone in China to own gold until now.
What is it with gold and the $1,000 mark? I heard there are 80 times more paper gold than real gold. In my opinion, gold should be at least double the price. Also, Hong Kong wants their gold from London. How long will the shell game last? Good thing I don't own gold or I would be going out of my mind.
The Depression of 1921...
You say that my date is wrong? No, it was 1921. The postwar depression only lasted from 1919 to 1921. Why did it only last a couple of years? Because our government didn't do anything. Why did the Great Depression last over a decade? Government intervention was used as a mechanism that would simply prolong the agony and make any subsequent depression worse than it would ordinarily be. In my opinion, the best remedy is to let the Depression run its course so that the economy could be purified from the negative effects of the false expansion. The quicker that happens the faster the recovery.

I'm surprised they didn't turn it into a time share.
Forgive me for asking but "Global News Network"? Where did they get the funds for this thing? Do they investigate for news, or do they just repeat news?
How long do you think we have until the President says on tv that we are broke and we are done? Do you think there are any solutions after we are thrown into chaos? By the way, I know you don't care much for paper money but do you like the yuan? Chinese coins? I am full of questions today.
Thanks
