The Depression of 1921...

You say that my date is wrong? No, it was 1921. The postwar depression only lasted from 1919 to 1921. Why did it only last a couple of years? Because our government didn't do anything. Why did the Great Depression last over a decade? Government intervention was used as a mechanism that would simply prolong the agony and make any subsequent depression worse than it would ordinarily be. In my opinion, the best remedy is to let the Depression run its course so that the economy could be purified from the negative effects of the false expansion. The quicker that happens the faster the recovery.
