Mets could have picked up Carlos Gomez for nada...the same dude they were going to deal Wheeler for one year ago.
Could be worse; Rangers could have gone for Bruce instead!
I betcha it's got nothing to do with age- most likely just a simple case of the Yanks finding a suitable new job for Arod.
Big call. The tribe looks pretty solid, especially the pen. It's always an adventure with Rodriquez in the 9th in Motown.
While we're pouring salt into the wounds of Mets fans, how's your analysis of the Beltran/Granderson contracts holding up these days. lol?
I've said it before: 2015 was an exceptional year for the Mets. Not much didn't fall into place for them, TC's management notwithstanding. Expecting the magic 2 seasons in a row was always going to lead to a lot of ifs, except fors and buts.
At one game over .500, even a WC is a pretty optimistic call for the Mets. The way things are going, they might be lucky to finish with a better record than the Phillies.
What blunder the Papelbom signing was for the Nats. Good riddance to a guy who managed to drag down every club house he entered. Let's see who's really desperate for bullpen help down the stretch.
Are you sure they've finished their selling?
Why are you complaining? You got a real nice .500 team there in Flushing, lol.
I think any talk of a retirement tour was squashed when Arod wouldn't renegotiate the 20 million $$ he'll collect in 2017. He can throw his own party- he was always pretty good at that....
CUO. Thanks for that. I see the 2015 full year results are listed as audited. Just curious: when they Pr'ed the q1 results, they were not audited. Is that typical?
TIA
Yup, it's time. Imagine collecting that paycheck for not playing the game. I think the Yanks should send Arod on a minor league tour in 2017. Start with the A leagues and work his way up to AAA if he earns it. How cool would that be...to live in a small American town and see one of the most gifted and flawed baseball players of his generation and all time for that matter. Arod said he wants to contribute...help out the younger players. What better way than to hold court on the greyhound bus for those players just out of high school?
I'd pay money to see Venditte pitch with both arms in a single inning. Maybe the M's are trying to steal a page from the Bill Veeck book on how to get asses in seats and entertain the crowd.
CUO Audited fins wouldn't hurt either.
Lincecum absolutely rag-dolled again. Hate to see him go out like this after parlaying all those bong hits into a great run for the Giants. I guess he'll have a few more chances with the Angels this season, but it sure hasn't been pretty since his return.
Back in PTN today at .55 Looking for at least .70 offer price into data release
Holding ARLZ at 3.30 avg Looking for at least 4.40 into PDUFA
Holding KTOVW at .82 avg Looking to retire, lol
Watching:
SYN- just PR'ed 40 million $$ ATM share sale. Looking for a dip to enter.
IMNP- have had success trading this between .33 and .42
XXII- looking to join the party in the low .80s
Yeah, they've had some injuries but IMO better than half of the dudes on your list aren't what I'd call impact players on most MLB rosters. They knew about Wright and Wheeler before the season began and Reyes was nothing to count on. There are always teams that suffer injuries and still compete; The Rangers, Dodgers, Cardinals, Red Sox and Giants have all lost more days to the DL than the Mets this season.
The reason the Mets will most likely miss October ball in 2016 has much more to do with the shoddy front office moves in preparation for this season (excluding Cespedes who basically signed himself). You certainly have done an effective job of chronicling the ineptitude of each DeAza at bat or Bastardo pitch, lol. And even though he tonked one tonight, I can't see Jay Bruce's streaky bat making up for what will be some flat out awful defense in the field. And not signing Murph doesn't seem like a great choice too.
Mets fans have to stop bemoaning this myth that they've been hard-done-by in the 2016 season and face the fact: everything went your way after August in the 2015 season (except TC's world series managing, the only time he was really put to the test). 2016 is a simple return to SOP for the Mets in the Wilpon era. You're a better than mediocre team in a great town run by total weeds.
Almost as bad as the Dodgers DL line up this season....
IRT earnings release pre-market today. CC at 9 AM.
I love it! trench warfare mentality on both sides of the Rotten Apple this season. Yanks vs Mets: 2 losers kicking each other when they're down. Couldn't happen to 2 better teams, lol.
What took you so long? D'arnaud has never fulfilled his potential...could be injuries but the bottom line is clear.
Yup, the crew is sitting pretty. The mission in Milwaukee has been to rebuild. Must have been some tough talks as the deadline closed in but Stearn held his nerve and got a fine return. Bummer nobody wanted Braunie....
The last time Beltran had a season this productive was his last contract year. Rangers should see continued production as Beltran has said he wants to play a couple of more years.
Nice work by Daniels at the deadline. If the starting pitching can hang in there...
Brewers GM has certainly reloaded the farm. Gonna be a fun team to watch in 2 years.

Anyone else holding this REIT? Looks like the new CEO has worked hard to turn around the company with the investment world. With the recent rise in the PPS, the divvy now yields 5.1%.
Company has moved up its 2Q report by a day:

The crew went 6-1 last week. Maybe Lucroy smells a pennant in 2018!
A guy with a paltry 5.25 million dollar contract for 2017 that the tribe won't renegotiate.
I think she meant 10 million new jobs in China.
I agree that this could be a great buying opp if it drifts down to or below the .315 offer price. IMNP certainly can't be accused of over-producing. The Amiket situation is fuzzy at best...far from the sale IMNP forecast more than a year ago.
Yup, this is a great deal for DC. Now if they can pull a Hoffa on Papelbomb they should be well positioned for the division. Some dudes you don't put on your roster regardless of talent. Papelbon is one of the top 5 in baseball.
Mets better pull their heads out and pony up for Lucroy if they have any hope of playing in October.
Hmmm. Please explain what's good about 3,174,603 shares sold at.315

Glad I sold this week.
On the other hand, there is no question that Familia has gotten a few saves this season that... well let's just say, were highly, highly improbable.
Tough to be TC. Losing a World Series when your team has led late in every game doesn't reflect well on the skipper or help to build his or the team's confidence, even if your owner is a tight-assed weed with no respect for his fans.
But who could tell these things at the time?...besides Bochy....and Mike Rizzo for signing Murph.
LOL, plenty of rag arms to pick from there when it comes to sending guys down to the minors! Still say that after Cole the Rangers pitching ranks right up there with my Brewers. Yu has got to be on close watch; he has looked good since coming back the 2nd time but I wonder what his pitch limit is per start.
There's not much out there for stud pitchers at the moment. All credit to JD for nabbing Hamels last year, but it's hard to see another deal like that happening before the end of the weekend.
Small market team like the crew doesn't have the financial luxury to splash 125 large on a 120 game per season, 17 hr, sub-300 bat. Carter's been more productive this year, even with all the nursing of Braun's playing time to make him appear more valuable.
You can make the case that holding on to a franchise player is good for a rebuilding team.....Freeman in Atlanta. Braun's not that guy....and Lucroy has made it clear he doesn't want that role either.
Take Braun and throw in Conforto... I'll even take DeAza off your hands for the rest of the season.
Not even close IMO. Lucroy is a top 3 catcher in all mlb. D'arnaud is a defensive liability as well as a DL regular.
Have to study up on the other guys, but if I'm the shiny new Theo prototype GM in Milwaukee, nobody's getting Lucroy without taking Braunie and his contract too.
Agreed. but I sure don't fear Casilla or Romo...
Better not be Wheeler coming to the Crew....
The Cubs need to win it all this year. Baby Theo certainly knows his recent Tigers play-off history well enough to have learned that a shoddy bullpen can turn a powerhouse into an also ran. Price, Scherzer and Verlander and they hand it over to Benoit. Ouch.
In the play-offs, it almost always boils down to innings 7-9, as any 2015 Mets fan can tell you. (unless you're Bochy and not stuck in conventional staff usage).
Lacky and Lester ain't getting any younger and the Cubs staff era keeps rising. They can't wait til next year any longer. The reason an organisation has built a great system in the minors is for moments exactly like this: deal Schwaber for Miller and Beanies and be done with it. Worry about winning it again sometime in the next 108 years.
Someone in the NL is going to fortify their pen bigtime this week. They'll be the team to beat in October IMO.
I bought on Friday as well. Just wondering: do you think the dip in the PPS is related to the news about the Amiket subsidiary? For years IMNP has been talking about selling Amiket for cold hard cash. This new arrangement is a bit fuzzy on the details but it is certainly not the $15 million dollar sale the company previously PR'ed.
