The Cubs need to win it all this year. Baby Theo certainly knows his recent Tigers play-off history well enough to have learned that a shoddy bullpen can turn a powerhouse into an also ran. Price, Scherzer and Verlander and they hand it over to Benoit. Ouch.
In the play-offs, it almost always boils down to innings 7-9, as any 2015 Mets fan can tell you. (unless you're Bochy and not stuck in conventional staff usage).
Lacky and Lester ain't getting any younger and the Cubs staff era keeps rising. They can't wait til next year any longer. The reason an organisation has built a great system in the minors is for moments exactly like this: deal Schwaber for Miller and Beanies and be done with it. Worry about winning it again sometime in the next 108 years.
Someone in the NL is going to fortify their pen bigtime this week. They'll be the team to beat in October IMO.
